My expectations are very simple.
If we spend 35M on a striker in January, I expect him to be a guaranteed starter.
When Tare says "we need a Giroud-like #9", you can bet your fucking ass, we won't sign anyone like that for less than 20-30M.
Splashing another 20-30M on a striker when we need 2 FBs, and 2 midfielders is simply fucking insane.
You're still not addressing the core of my argument. On one side, you're mocking our bench – Chukwueze, Pobega, RLC and co. – as if it's Serie B level. On the other, you're foaming at the mouth at the
very idea of investing serious money in quality players who could actually challenge starting players for a spot.
So what is it now – do you want quality or not?
Tare laid it out pretty clearly: midfield is the priority. But we’ve got only
one striker under contract too. Just one. Tammy’s gone. Jovic isn’t renewed. Camarda is out on loan. We’re not playing 4-6-0 next season, aren't we. Of course we’re going to need strikers. Plural. And not just any warm body from Ligue 1 or some half-baked Primavera gamble – we need players who can push Gimenez, not just clap for him. If he picks up an injury – and he
will, because that’s football – and all we’ve got is some budget backup, we’re screwed before matchday 10.
So again: Why the sudden allergic reaction to investing
once more in a decisive attacking piece? Where is all this panic coming from? It's not gonna be >50M, don't worry. We're probably eyeing someone for 20-30M, because that's the very least amount of money quality attackers cost you nowadays.
