I absolutely agree with that. If we had a regista better than Biglia and quality backup for Hakan, I think Bona and Kessie would benefit much from these situations. The problem IMO was that we had poor regista and no creative midfielder. The defenders had no help offered by the midfielder (regista). We should at least have one of those types (both if possible).

We will have Hakan back and new players should be also more prepared for the next games. In addition, I don't think any other team could do such pressure like Napoli did even Juventus but Juve have certainly better players. I am still optimistic that we could fight back.

I actually thought we played well for the first hour and on relatively equal terms with Napoli despite having a vastly inferior squad. Anybody who thinks our midfield and forward line is on par with Napoli's (bar Higuain) needs to stop watching football. Gattuso certainly made the most of the limited players at his disposal. However, his poor substitutions and insistence on playing the ball from the back against the best pressing team in Serie A cost us the game.

Still, the performance gave me some confidence although I think we'll struggle to get top 4 due to lack of squad quality. Leo's failure to address the everlasting creative mids issue and quick, technical wingers will cost us dearly. You could see how easily Napoli played around us in the second half due to having a technical midfield and explosive wingers like Insigne, Callejon + Mertens. Gattuso can't be blamed for that.

Allegri did much more than him. Why is nobody(except Kuja) jizzing over him?

Conte put juve back on the map.

Allegri took them to the next level.

Milan need to be put on the map.

Milan need Conte.

It's that simple.

I want Rino to stay unless it becomes untenable.

But you are right. We need an establisher, not a modifier.

We need someone who can tear up the ground and build a team from disparate parts, not someone who will put the icing on top.

Conte's just going to take a year off.

His contract with Chelsea ran till the end of the 18-19 season iirc. He'll get paid till the date his contract was supposed to expire.

Really doubt he's going to join a new club before the end of the season.

huh

Conte started their cycle of winning, took them from 7th place to scudetto in one season and built on from that. Allegri has done better in CL but that could be just because they have been able to build a stronger and deeper squad from Conte's work

also he failed in the second season at Chelsea because the team sold integral pieces and failed to replace them adequately

Sarri is great but he is stubborn with his tactics and rotation which will always limit him

I'd still welcome him at Milan, would be the best coach in years

Sarri lost his title hopes to that Roma squad at San Paolo where he was supposed to be unbeatable

Pls keep coming.

Compare the squads at their disposal.

Conte had Worldies

Sarri had Insigne :lol::

This is my problem with criticisms of Gattuso:

First, people said that he only plays "GRINTA!" But, now you are criticizing him for playing fancy, by playing it out of the back?

But here is the response: why not play Reina? Because Reina has 1-2 years left in him, Donna is the future, and that means you need to improve him, either to sell him, or to keep him and rely upon him. Remember: he's NINETEEN. Yes, he gets paid 6m. Plus the 1m for his brother, but that's not changing, so either we improve him or we sell him before we can get some real good money from him. I'd rather him do better and we sell him for 70m next summer.

The other issue is just practical. Montolivo is hurt. Our new players have just come in, like Bakayoko, Laxalt, etc so acting like Gattuso should've just thrown them on, is crazy.

We grew dependent on Hakan in the second half of last year, that is clear. Borini worked hard, and got an assist, he ran himself into the ground. But what did Laxalt do? Honestly, he got one good pull-back to Higuain (which was a little bit behind him, to be fair) but otherwise, what did he do? Nothing.

Bakayoko's clearance wasn't the problem with the second goal, it was Donna's poor positioning. Baka needs to up his effort and dial back his desire to try and be a trequartista. I think he can do well here, or at least, I hope so.

I can keep going, but, acting like ALL IS LOST because we played Napoli first--not having the ability to bring back our most influential player last year on the pitch, and also, not having an easier match to figure out our team and get players to get used to each other, you're just ignoring reality.

Do you know why? Because Milan played better than you negative people thought. I didn't see your comments when we were winning 2-0. No happiness. No joy. So you can understand why I'm skeptical when I only see you posting when things go bad.

I'm not satisfied with a "good performance" against Napoli. But that's all we can do now, we have to learn, and like Leo said, we cannot be surprised we're up 2-0. The players have taken this on themselves, like they should, and again, we were playing passing, not GRINTA, so stop pretending like you hate Gattuso's style, when he's trying to make the team play attacking and passing play, but he either doesn't have the players for it, or, that many of the players aren't ready to do that yet, especially when Samu and Hakan weren't on the pitch.

Napoli got 91 points, yet couldn't even qualify out of the UCL group that contained Shakhtar donetski and Feyenoord LMAO

But the EPL is a circus :fp:

Btw can any of the true milan fans, tell us paupers, what is Milans highest points tally in serie a ?

That would depend on whether you want to change the points from our teams that played in a Serie A that only awarded 2 points for a win versus the change to 3 points, plus, factoring in the amount of teams in Serie A, since it has changed from 16 to 18 and to 20 at various periods in Serie A history.

So, yeah.

most great ones adapt to the their circumstances, Sarri never did and probably will never

tomorrow we get Pep. Who's adapting to who. Milan to his way of thinking...or Pep to ours.

Of course I would... it's only fair

Just something i read the other day about one of our recent scudettos being a record points tally for Milan, but it was in the lower 80's
