what's the obsession with moving Hakan Back to the middle?
the guy is now a winger and very effective at it. as he can comfortably moves and drift centrally when needed.
in concept it's like a "false 9" but for wingers ...
you move him centrally, Trequartista:
1. he'll get "Jumped" ... they'll just crowd the midfield
2. if we get a creative midfielder, that'll be 2 creative players, wanting the ball at their feet, being very close to each other, stepping on each other toes...and probably affecting the way Kessie plays as well.
i guess the point of having a creative midfielder is to have more "danger" players and it makes more sense to have 'em spread out throughout the field to stretch the opponent ... and not have them clumped up together.
YES, we need a creative midfielder, preferably LCM... but leave the rest the way it is.
433 gives us BALANCE... Rodriguez and Calabria need help from Wingers... and that's why it works. that's why they're offensive threats. (1st goal, assist Rodriguez...2nd goal from a Calabria interception) ... without wingers they would not venture that far forward nor (semi) centrally.
In-game formation change can always be made depending on the game.
Leave those "on paper" formations on paper ... 3 at back, Trequartista and others.
433 it is, and it works. and i am glad we have a pragmatic coach to not go for this nonsense
