Merited a place here since a long time but I was always too lazy. :D Very good player - a hardworker and a fighter. Plays for two of my favorites (Lazio and Uruguay) and plays as a midfielder or a right back. He's not the most talented player, but he always gives maximum effort, and you'll never see him shy away from a challenge.

He always does his job properly without looking to get noticed. Excellent team-player.

Went to the football- section with the intetion of starting a thread justlike this. I was gonna call it "underrated players", but guess it'sthe same thing.:)

Very interesting topic, sir. :D

Haven't browsed through the whole thread yet, but I sure will. Anyways....My contribution to this topic will be....drumrol*....Juhinho Pernumbuchano!

..Fine, fine! We all know him as the most awesome freekick- taker of all time. However he never really got any recogntion at all for the other abilities he had. Eg. He was a kick ass playmaker with a godlike vision. AThat's a bit sad.

I Think RIquelme is also somewhat underappreciated. I mean if the guy had played in a big team/bgger team during his prime he would most likely be regarded as one of the greatest playmakers in the World. But just because his prime in Europe was with a smaller team(Villarreal) I feel like he never really got the praise he deserved. If he had played for a team like ManU or Milan etc during that period he would most likely gotten much, much, much more admiration, the kind he deserved(diserves).

Also Alex De Souza(previously Fenerbahce) is highly underrated. Outside the boarders of Turkey very few people recognize the exellence of this FANTASTC player.

The thing is international and European fans don't follow or rate football outside Europe.

In South America Riquelme is a god. Juninho is like a king in Vasco da Gama.

Yeah, we tend to be etnocentric cunts in that aspect. We imagine football, not only outside Europé, but also outside the "Big 4 Leagues" is shite. :head:

Eg.) "..But X is ot that good! I mean come on. Anyone can be a star in Liga Sagres/Ligue1/Brazilian Seria A/etc
etc!"

Such a shame!
