Recoba had great technique + skill, along with pace. Also a lot of natural talent, not going to lie, he never lived up to it, not gonna lie.

Yeah, I know. He was a good player, who had his share of bad luck. But he was never the top eschelon player inter tried to make him. Marquee player that wages he got at inter. He was good, but not great. Euroderbies proved it, obviously I was very happy with that.

I think he's a bit below the best ever as a player. As a coach and human being he's zero though. And he's definitely not forgotten.

Another forgotten player is Adi Ilie. Unfortunately very injury prone and was quite introverted when he was a player making it hard for coaches to work with him:

Recoba had a ridiculous left foot. Probably had nothing else but his shot power, technique, and accuracy were crazy. Definitely overrated by Moratti and Inter, but if not for injuries maybe could have done more.

Doesn't belong here. This thread is about players that had promise but didn't completely fulfill it. Henry is one of the best players in history.

He was one of my favorite strikers when i was a kid.Still remember watching that 94 world cup,man that was a great world cup.The atmosphere around it,the players who played in it,the fucking paninini albums etc.

Fucking 1994 Panini albums. Spent an entire day with a friend checking every kiosk we possibly could for them, didn't find any and when we got back in the evening we found out they had them at the neighborhood kiosk and they sold out. We didn't check it because they usually didn't have any. Other than that I have great memories of the 1994 WC.

Panini albums - great and a classic. I have the full World Cup 2002 panini, man that took some hard work to complete. Also have EURO 2004 and World Cup 2006 but not completed. They still make them?

For me it was a great way back in the day to know and memorize each NT's 23 man squad. Before internet took over. Plus it was great to see their birthdays, which team they played for, and get to see the faces of players I didn't know.

It really isn't. The fun is in exchanging them or even selling them. I remember during World Cup 2002 and EURO 2004, but especially in 2002 I'd spend every day at the club. They had that store that sold the paninis and I'd meet new people and sell or exchange with them until I finally completed it.

I totally disagree with this statement, having seen Hagi in some public appearances in the last few years. He might not be talented as a coach but he is a man with a lot of common sense. He founded a good quality youth academy in his home town and he invested quite some money there, this is a good deed for the local community and for Romanian football.

P.S. If you want to bring in discussion some red cards he got during the last years of his career, including an awful challenge on Conte at Euro 2004, I acknowledge and condemn them of course. But I don't think that those moments of football frustration make him a bad human being or shadow his performances as a player. Cheers

I wasn't referring to that. Zero human being was an exaggeration but he's close. I won't get into this further though. Let's just say we disagree.

As a coach, I sure hope he takes over Steaua again.

Too young to know what he did in Real - he scored some nice goals given the footage I've seen - but at Barca he wasn't great. His best club years were in Romania and at Galatasary.

I think Bebeto is kinda forgotten nowadays. He was one of the best players in the world in the 90's, but he is not as remembered as others. Maybe he is underappreciated cause he played for Deportivo La Coruña or maybe cause he was "the partner of Romário".

I think I kinda overrate 94' WC, but I was a kid and the memories of this World Cup are very strong for me. So many classic players and games...

Got voted 2nd worst player in premier league history not so long ago, some players should be forgotten.

Brolin is another case of player prevented to reach his great potential cause of injuries. He was awesome on his first seasons at Parma. Then he got serious injuries and his career just gone downhill.
