Tbh i think unless you've read / watched a certain amount of mangas/animes, you won't be able to fully enjoy one piece. Is has.... "Unique" feeling to it.

I think Most regular readers find Naruto / Bleach more entertaining.

luffy (main character) voice in english dub is more annoying than ladri.


if you want the whole one piece anime experience, you must watch it subbed, because the voice acting is at the highest level.

Yes, am western. I will give Japan dubbed a try. I believe I've watched some Pokemon on some site in Japanese. The voice distracted me from reading the subs.

I've seen it. I like it and I love the pirate era. I've seen Pirates of the Caribbean countless times (ask fiero ). Only problem I have and am sorry Sage but it's in Japanese. Its hard for me to recognize a different emotion in voices other than enthusiasm. I've watched one in english and japanese dubbed and I prefer english.

this is true. imo, even in between arcs it has a downtime and a awesome time. the thing about it is that, even when it's slow, the manga gets you equally invested in the show as when things pick up i.e. action and w/e.

I guess i'm not a regular reader then; I read naruto first. then bleach. and OP is my third. watched psycho pass after that.

however, it's not that hard to appreciate OP imo. and that is because of it's "unique" feeling. I don't like comparing manga and anime, because they are vastly different in their own respect. from this, ppl tend to gravitate to one, more than the other, because of their own tastes and not necessarily because one is strictly better than the other.

I am a westerner and I prefer subs. it's just not the same with English dub man. I remember in 2008 when I first saw naruto on CN...it was ultimately crappy. I could never listen to that person who dubbed naruto....eek....

since I've been doing it for so long, reading subs is 2nd nature for me, like the rest of us.

which means to say that for me, this is true across the board. naruto/bleach/OP...it grants more authenticity which leads to more suspension of disbelief which leads to you getting more invested in the show which means you'll like faster and more....

that is something that you'll prolly only get with time. if I think about kakashi from naruto being voiced by someone else other than kazuhiko inoue now....it won't be kakashi and it'll ruin everything for me.

however, if you watch the English dub from the start, I guess you'll be alright...

I've only tried watch Naruto and One Piece in English dubs. Never really gave English subs a chance.

the other dub cast are tolerable/fine, but when the main character is extremely annoying it's a huge problem for me, she's really horrible.

I don't think I would have ever watched the OP anime if dub was my only option only because of the luffy english VA.

anyways, they only dubbed the first 264 episodes so far, so you'll have to continue with Japanese later on.
