I will only blame the first goal on the defense, zapata and mexes should have been marking the most dangerous man in the air. the second goal and all the other chances that were created were a product of a terrible midfield that was getting bypassed way too easily therefore exposing our defense.

Unfortunately some of the blame has to go to the coach on this one, most teams come out with a plan, tactics, a style of play in which to break down opposition. we looked slow, had no plan of attack and worst of all had no plan to defend against the counter attacks which is odd because i don't see any other way for verona to score against us other than set pieces and counter.

saying all that this was our first serie a game and we can only get better. I think the team will bounce back from this qualify for the champions league and all you will be back in love with the team again. atleast that is what i hope will happen.

The midefield(and attack) lost the ball and still ran at their goal when they were supposed to track back. We were tactically weak and hardly got a shot on the second half, while hanging on a thread with counterattacks. Everyone were sub-par. Attack, midfield, defence, coach, tactics.

Almost no focus in the players, I expected the team to try to continue what they started in last season's second half, but now it seems they are all starting from the zero which is one of the biggest problems with Allegri. Even the Scudetto winning team could not build on the success of that season.

Anyway not a big surprise since Milan winning first game which was played away from home is a wild dream.

4-3-3 is shit without a proper attacking plan. We are sacrificing one midfielder for an attacker who's doing nothing. It's also the cause why our players are so separated making it difficult for us to string short passes. Having limited skills on our midfielder also didn't help. Hopefully we remove 4-3-3 and put SES more central when Honda comes. That's how we break Catenaccio, direct through/lob pass from Honda. Niang and SES needs to be taught how to cross properly. They're wingers.

with this current squad, we can play 4-3-3, only when Boa (or Niang) & Monto are in top form. And ofcourse without Noce!

Galliani should get Astori, Ljaljic & Honda (sell Bonera, Zaccardo, Noce, Muntari......) and we would had more tactical options.

Lets be honest and look at who opened the game thread. That's where the blame lies in ;).

It was just a bad game by everyone. We didn't really seem fully in it, the tactics were mediocre (and sadly there were little things to do in midfield), and we just looked bad.

No need for big drama though, it's the first game of the season, and even though it was a horrible match, the season is long.

I guess my biggest issue was the huge gap we left in midfield and defense, and then the big mistakes by the defense. We only had Montolivo as a good defensive midfielder, and even if he's good at defensive work, he's not exactly a DM, and on top of that he's not at his best form.

On top of that we don't have the best CBs at positioning game, which is crucial when your defensive midfield doesnt exist....

The attack wasn't great, but we created, yes, we were often going too central, which helped Verona's defensive tactic, but there were chances.

I'm a very serious forumer.

You're right, you're the most serious forumer. So serious, you fit what half the commoders desire for Milan...only you're not a brunette with longish hair.

Yeah because its clearly the same situation. A shit ton of transfers + a brand spanking new coach vs a coach thats been here for 3 years and 3 new players, 1 which started. The rest on the bench or injured. Great comparison.

i wouldint mind one bit about our lost last night IF we pass vs psv . the cl game is Worth so much for us . if we do not progress , we will still have a good side that will compete for top 3 but if we pass , then i am sure G will sign 2-3 players and we will have a squad that will compete for the scudetto . That is a big difference . the psv game is Worth a season .... We have to play much better than yesterday .

'I had nobody to dedicate a third goal to,' jokes Toni

The Italian rolled back the years with a double against the Rossoneri on the opening weekend of the new season and claimed, with tongue in cheek, that it could have been a treble
Verona striker Luca Toni has joked that he would have netted a hat-trick against AC Milan on Saturday had he had someone else to whom he could have dedicated a goal.

The 36-year-old bagged a double in the surprise 2-1 victory over the Rossoneri but the veteran forward says he would have added a third if he had so desired.

"The two goals were for my wife Martha and my daughter Bianca," Toni told Sky Sport Italia. "I did not score a third because I did not have anybody to dedicate it to.

"I enjoy playing against Milan. Even with Fiorentina I scored a lot against them, and these habits are important because they secured a great victory.

"There was some tension before the game because we knew we would be facing a great team."

The former Bayern Munich hitman turned 36 in May but, despite being in the twilight of his career, Toni says that he remains as passionate about the game as ever.

"Fortunately, I have have earned a lot much money in my life, and I am only still playing because I love football," he explained.

"I like training, I like to work hard and I like to sacrifice myself [for the team]. As long as I feel this way, I will keep playing."

Toni, who helped Italy win the World Cup in 2006, has now scored 111 goals in 250 appearances in Serie A

Yup. Actually if you watched the game it looked that the longer Toni stayed on the pitch, the more he'd score. Grazie Allegri and #taskforce :proud:
