Just over 2 days til the mercato closes.

Samu and Laxalt seem to be done deals. We've covered most of the holes in the squad and built pretty good depth, while offloading fodder.

The one thing we need now is a LM otherwise we likely start Bona there (not the end of the world, mind you) and seems like we'll definitely pick someone up. Only two players possibly to leave now are Berto and Borini. Gattuso apparently wants Berto to stay, and if not part of the Laxalt deal then gives us more midfield depth. Borini possibly gone as part of SMS deal, and we can promote youth for 3rd CF position which is probably better than having Borini play there. Monto - no idea but hope we can give him a golden handshake.

All in all, 10/10 mercato so far. Fodder mostly gone and quality depth now along with our main needs covered except LM. 12/10 if we pull off SMS or another big midfield signing.

Even if we don't get Sergej, this has been a top market. Bought solutions for our biggest need (goalscorer - Higuain), 2nd biggest need (a proper left winger - Laxalt), 3rd biggest need (a proper DM - Bakayoko), top young defense prospect (Caldara), and equally importantly, some proper depth options now.

A goalscoring 'force' from the midfield is all we need now, which is exactly what Milinkovic-Savic is.. but top 4 should be minimum with the squad that we have now. Don't forget that we finished 3rd in the league from the 2nd round of fixtures alone last season.

Bonaventura deal started and finished within the last 4 hours of the mercato. You could theoretically do many more deals.

But of course in this case, negotiations had started ages ago.
