Why don't you agree that an IPO is a way to get paid and not just to raise money? You sell your shares and get cash, no? While startups go for IPO to raise funds, it is also a means for the founders to get officially rich.

Maybe that's not the way to go here, but it is a viable option, in theory, no?

So #1, I agree. They've said as much themselves. They won't keep the club.

#2 and #3 go hand and hand. If you don't think they can sell the club at 1bil now (i agree)...then why would an IPO be an answer to that problem?
When you list a company on the market, it has to get valued. So the shares that will be offered will be a certain price. Let's say Milan will be valued at 700M currently. I have no idea if that number is anywhere near the true valuation. Just for conversation purposes. So now....you are stuck. At that 700M. That's what your company is valued at and the shares outstanding will be initially offered on the market at that valuation (proportianally). In order to get to the desired 1B (not sure if that's Elliot's desire, but let's go with it as a benchmark), you now have to show finances, growth, improvement, sales, profit, etc...something to cause your company to all of a sudden be worth that much more.
So...when do you think those same sgares that were valued at 700M will have enough gain to now be valued at 1B? (This is a very simplified process of how this works).
What if we miss the CL 3 years in a row. What if there is another lockdown? What if "xyz"? It's a risk. Football clubs are a risky business. Not only that....but unless you are one of the very few...it's a "loss" business. Good luck gaining valuation on your company on the market. Oh...and by the way...since you've listed shares publically...you no longer own the whole thing. So, even if it gets valurd at 1B at some point and you wanna cash out...you'll only leave with whatever portion you own...which obviously won't be 1B.

So this is why I think Elliot won't "risk" listing Milan on the market. They'll only do it if they wanna "invest" in Milan's operations/infrastructure, BUT they don't wanna use their own money OR borrow from a lender.

Remember Li's plans to list Milan publicly? His idiot CEO said as much. Reason was that Li was broke and had no more money to invest..or even keep the lights on. So the answer? Sell part of Milan on the market for more cash.

Elliot doesn't need cash. Ant listing Mioan om the market is hardly the best way to grow its value. As a matter of fact, it's probably the riskiest and worst way to do that.

Or perhaps we are buying Omeragic outright (perhaps even loaning him out for the rest of the season) and grab Abdou Diallo on-loan, evaluating him in the process?

Speaking of goals in Madrid, did you have time to think about your career as you were about to enter the history of Milan? How did you live those 3-4 seconds? “It was wonderful. The ball was soft, I only had the goalkeeper in front, I said to myself: ‘Here I score a goal’. It was a beautiful moment. Funny to see Issa Diop being mentioned. A lot of the obscure players I've thought were worth a punt we actually went for. Boateng and Taarabt come to mind. I thought of Diop in the past as a cheap option, who could push for a starting place. Physical and tall, he'd be a good partner for Tomori. I think he hasn't fulfilled his full potential. But when he first joined them, it seemed he was destined for a big club.

yes, i see it the same way too. well the Romagnoli part...i dont pay much attention to the details of their others dealing so i wouldn't know their Chiesa stuation. but it makes sense the way you explained.
I'm sure they'll qualify for CL, and even be back in the title race by Feb-March


i can see Romagnoli going to Juve and being good, even great for Allegri's football. that's his football. Andbeing free, he'd have great options. but Juve seems his best option (style, career, money). and i think he'll go there. the match is too good for both him and Juve not to try hard to make it happen...while i don't think Maldini values him much to "fight" to keep him ... hell, i don't even think Maldini is trying to keep him regardless...i'm very skeptical...or even don't believe at all those reports of 3M renewal.

I don't think so. Gazidis certainly doesn't, and he'd be the guy you'd want to have that sort of experience. I don't see any reason to take Milan public, with the histrionics with fans, do you really want them to be involved at all? Of course not.

I think the strategy is to build-up Milan and Serie A, so that it can overtake La Liga as the second best league, which it might already on a sporting-sense, and you just wait to see Barca fall, because that really hurts the appeal of the league, Real cannot carry La Liga alone.

Longer-term, I think you try and position Serie A to be in place to take advantage that Brexit is having on the league, which it already seems to be on the side of young-player recruitment and transfer strategies. I wouldn't doubt that Elliott has encouraged, either directly or indirectly, the influx of American money into Serie A. If the Italian and local governments play ball, I think you could see a very strong league, because those who are buying Prem teams are a very different buyer than those who would buy other teams.

What I see in our management team is a lot of Prem experience, which makes sense with Gazidis, but also, as to how you grow a product. Milan has been criminally mismanaged since the 2000's, and I keep thinking about this statement:

"It is probably too much to call it Stone Age but [AC Milan’s] commercial team was definitely 10 years behind the Premier League and probably two, three years behind the top clubs in Italy," says Casper Stylsvig, the club’s new chief revenue officer, and a former global sponsorship director at Manchester United.

There's no way an IPO makes sense with Milan, considering the strategies involved, the work that has to be done to get Milan back where it should be, and the stadium that needs to be built; and I'm glad for it. I'm just curious as to who the buyer for Milan will be, and I think a lot will depend on how Serie A looks when it's time to sell. If Serie A is strong and following the aforementioned plan, I could see some American guy wanting to buy it who owns some stupid restaurant franchise and wants to spend more time in Italy. If Milan is doing strong but Serie A isn't closing that gap, I think we get bought by some entity that wants to sports-wash their reputation.
