You're being too sentimental. If this form continues and we miss out on the CL, will you continue to feel that he deserves another year here? Where do you draw the line?

What if he were Mexican? Would you still give him another year?
Even if you take away the sentiment, he won the league last year.

If you get rid of him now, you have to pick a replacement and hope they do better - and doing better is not winning 1 in 6, it is finishing 2nd or in CL at least.

The problem with that is that you are throwing away a manager who has proven he is capable of winning the title only last year with these exact players. It's a gamble. Nobody knows how the rest of the season will unfold - we either have Pioli who normally had a reputation for starting strong, burning out and getting sacked but last year actually won us the title and has been our best manager statistically since Capello (aka 1994) or we have someone else, will they be better? who knows.

Apparently we’re trying to close for Osorio tonight

I hope this is us listening to scouting by Monconda and this kid is legit!

I hope he's not another kid that disappears into the Milan archives... And another waste 5/6 million.

Hauge was loan with option and conditional obligation ( the team not get relegated ). Regular obligation is almost the same as a regular purchase. And if you sign a 35 mil player, only 1/5th or 7 mil ( 35 / 5 =7) comes on the year's books not the whole amount!! You amortize over the length of the contract. So basically there is almost zero difference between regular purchase and obligation. Obligation affects the budget the same way as a purchase. Even UEFA counts it like that for FFP!

Or in other words, do you think if Maldini wanted to sign a 35 mil winger with loan plus obligation on top of the other transfers, would the owners have allowed it because it was loan plus obligation and not straight purchase? Or is only Napoli allowed to count loan plus obligation in the way you described? Maybe Maldini can even then combine 3 mercatos in one by doing 2 year loans plus obligation!!

How can you count transfer fees without looking at salaries? If the management can sign players with 20 mil gross salaries like Lukaku, then they can do more free deals without spending as much on transfers. For example they could have signed Ziyech on loan and given him 6 mil net salary. They could have also kept Kessie with 6 mil salary as well. Are you saying that high salaries don't hurt your books and only transfer spending does??

And Milan's books were in much better shape than Roma, Inter and Juve. Milan only made 60 mil in losses which is quite good. Roma made over 200 mil! And then Milan increased their shirt sponsorship recently by around 50 mil. So not all Serie is in bad financial shape!

If Leao doesn't renew they should sell him. But if they just sell their best players for the sake of selling, how is that going to help top 4 chances. And then how will that increase the club's revenues? Fucking Gerry wants to get Milan's revenue to 500 mil. How the fuck is he going to do that by running the club like Napoli?

Abramovich bought Chelsea for 300-400 mil. He then paid around 1 bil in club losses over the years to make Chelsea a big club. Then the club got sold for a few billion! They didn't let him keep the proceeds because of sanctions but he would have come out in profit if they had. That's how you grow big clubs, not this bullshit 35 mil net mercato spending.
Sorry but I trust Transfermarkt (Wiki says the same thing) who only count Raspadori’s 5m loan fee and NOT the obligation in 22/23 hence the 13m surplus reported for Napoli.

At the end of the day, Maldini spent 50m on CDK, Thiaw, Vrancx + Messias who have failed to make an impact in addition to handing out long term contracts to injury prone Florenzi + Origi and sold NOBODY (Hauge was from last year). Meanwhile, Napoli sold/released Koulibaly, Mertens, Fabian Ruiz + Insigne and signed Kim, Kvara, Anguissa + Olivera and ended up recording a SURPLUS whilst riding high at the top of Serie A. Those are precisely the reasons why Gerry is unwilling to give Paolo any extra money during winter and unlikely to increase the mercato budget this summer. Especially when the likes of Inter, Lazio + Atalanta are also outperforming us whilst recording smaller transfer deficits or breaking even.

No worries, he'll spend the next 2 seasons in primavera before being loaned to some serie b club and finally released for free :ibralol:

To me, this is different than Chelsea with Di Matteo or even Chelsea with Tuchel this season because Di Matteo did nothing other than the CL and Tuchel had been merely average for pretty much an entire season.

Pioli only two months or so ago was joint first. Pioli only last season won the title with us. We're in bad form and we're 6th - albeit 2 points from 2nd. If we lose to Inter do I think it's terminal or curtains for Pioli? No, not unless we get thoroughly embarrassed, but things do need to get a lot better.

Another thing to think about with this - we have Pioli now. The management do not want to spend a penny on transfers - this means two things for the manager: we won't want to sack him due to the severance payment, and we almost certainly won't sign any expensive manager to replace him. To me, the writing is on the wall that if we sack Pioli we get Abate.

True.

It is why it's so difficult. To me, he deserves time and a chance to turn it around. We had a run of dreadful form last year and the year before and came back - not as bad as this but still.

Only a couple of months ago we looked like we could definitely repeat even against Napoli and now we've not won in 6 and conceded 12 in the last 3.

Personally, and I may be the only one here, I could not have given less of a fuck about the cup and supercoppa. Of course, I'd rather we not lose 3-0 but I was not really affected in the slightest. The other results are what trouble me (and I am not denying that those two losses have an impact)
Last season he did well, but now hes terrible. Started with the roma game. Some coaches losing their flow after a time, its what happening with Pioli. The scudetto victory was his peak as it seems. Im happy he brought Milan the tittle, but now its time to move on, and the club should make a new start.
He isnt a top coach, and I really dont see him bringing Milan to the CL semi finals or so this year or in the future

The issue with this is that you are now thinking that it is impossible for Pioli to get back to the form which only 8 months ago was leading us to the title with 86 points.

While 'nobody can do any worse' may be true in terms of the fact that we've not won in 6 or whatever, it's also true that only last season Pioli was leading us to the title and only a few months ago we were neck and neck with Napoli. And yes, we have faltered, but the fact that we're only 2 points behind second AFTER all of that, does suggest that he's not the only one struggling.

If clubs acted as we are suggesting, Limone would have been sacked by Inter, Mourinho and Sarri would have gone, Allegri would have been sacked and Gasp too. Literally every other manager except for Spalletti has gone through these periods of form and yet they're still here and you're not asking for them to be sacked now.
We have conceded 18 goals in the last 7 games

18 fucking goals.

And throughout that entire run, he has changed fuck all. Literally fuck all. It would be one thing if we had seen any improvements, but we have progressively gotten worse with every game.

And you wanna talk about precedent?

Inter
Fiorentina
Lazio

Each of which Pioli took over during a crisis, had a great run and then crashed and burned with them before getting sacked. The difference with us is that it lasted a bit longer and led to a scudetto in arguably one of the weakest Serie A seasons in the last 5 years. I am grateful for that, but we have been mostly rubbish for majority of the season.

The "oh he won a scudetto" excuse really starts wearing thin when week in week out we look absolutely clueless on the pitch.

What's the point of sticking with a manager that has clearly shown how out of touch he has become.

If anything, the dude has become ridiculously arrogant after winning one title. I mean, just look at his press conferences. If that doesnt show how out of touch he has become with the realities of what we are seeing on the pitch, i really dont have much to say.

Yh sure.... I mean he's doing a great job right now
That’s precisely why now is the perfect time to hire him because if Liverpool were flying high he’d be unavailable. Anyway, like I said, Klopp is a pipe dream given his salary demands and transfer requests.

2 weeks ago I was pro-Pioli. I put all the blame on the management for the disastrous transfer market. But since then we've lost to teams that we have no business losing to. And not just regular defeats. Humiliating defeats. He's literally breaking records. Bad ones. First time we've conceded 4 goals or more in two consecutive games. Worst of all, there haven't been any positive signs or improvements. We're conceding the same type of goals in every game.

You're being very sentimental. At the very least, I'd let the management analyze our last few defeats and decide what's best. Let them talk to the players and see if they're losing confidence in the coach. All these things matter. I'm leaning towards replacing him. But ultimately Maldini and co. really need to do their due diligence and find out what the majority of the players think. Once the players stop playing for the coach, the coach's time is up. That's it.

Giacomo Raspadori is officially a new Napoli player after completing the transfer from Sassuolo and could make his debut against Monza tomorrow.

The versatile Italy international striker had his medical yesterday in Rome and this evening put pen to paper on the contract.

As is traditional at Napoli, it was announced via the official Twitter account of President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

This is a loan deal at €5m with an obligation to buy for a further €25m, along with up to another €5m in various performance-related bonuses.

Does Wikipedia or transfermarket explicitly says it's an loan plus option and not an obligation? Because there are multiple sites that explicitly state obligation.

Also you didn't answer my question. would Redshit have let management buy a RW for loan plus 35 mil obligation on top of the other transfer spending??

Regarding MM, do you think it's better to keep them for 1 more year with no money to spend ( 0 net mercato ) so they do even worse next year? Or to get someone else and give them money to spend? Or get new management people but just make them also do 0 net mercato? Or maybe Redshit doesn't like spending in general??
