Pioli, the coaching staff and Maldini need to go ASAP.

Maldini especially since he won’t do what’s required to upgrade the team.

- almost all of his transfers are failures, not just the ones this season.
- he failed to realize what kind of conjuncture won us the league ( everyone and their moms could tell, yet most have been called negative nancies)
- he failed to fire Pioli after 6 months of playing like dog shit.

We won’t make top 4 this season, if things don’t change NOW. We will most likely finish 5th with 3-4 points on fourth, and everyone will pat themselves on the back for the valiant effort they did, since it’s impossible to play with “so many” quality players injured.

So first of all, I can rule out that Milan offered Origi and Kolo Muani the same salary. Kolo Muani would not have got 4 million net at Milan.

Moreover, German salaries are usually quoted gross. The basic salary is said to be €1.5 million gross. His net salary depends on the tax bracket. What about bonuses? What about signing since he was on a free transfer?

I work in the Frankfurt banking sector and people close to the club there say Milan offered a better salary but the signing bonus was lower and so was the prospect of playing time. That's why the player chose Frankfurt and not Milan.

On the site Capology, you can switch between net and gross. They list 0.8 mil net and 1.5 mil gross.

Maybe Milan only offered a bit higher like 1.8 mil net. And Origi salary is so much higher than Muani that Milan could have offered a higher signing bonus and still saved money over Origi.

Basically management considered Origi worth spending more on. And that has turned out to be a huge mistake...

Because SD's are born SDs? No SD starts at a lower position? Also Milan could look for other SDs from outside if they feel there is someone better. Maldini should definitely stay as technical director. He is the top guy for that. The SD position could possibly be upgraded....
The question is if chief scout is worse for Moncada as he can focus on his strengths, SD (albeit italian TD/SD system is a bit different from other countries) is most likely burdened with more admin.
Monacada and Massara came like 1 year apart and SD was the last post to be filled. Moncada is still kinda young and maybe it was too early, but I believe that if management wanted him as SD they would have promoted him.
But I agree that SD is the most likely candidate for an upgrade, Tare would have been really good. Massara is expiring 24 so I don't think that there will be much change before.

It’s going to be a very interesting summer. I do NOT expect RedBird to inject capital into the club for transfers, so it comes down to a few factors:

1) The clubs financials… Are we projecting positive cash flow from operations or are we still losing cash? @brk hit me with those financials and I’ll put my CFO big smooth brain to work.

-Every cent the club generates above cost needs to go into transfers, medical/fitness staff, and hair transplants for Pioli because his insecurity is killing this club. I want him looking like Conte by this time in 2024.

- Obviously, we are fucked if we don’t finish top 4, it should go without saying but I’ll say it anyway.

2) MMM probably need to consider selling assets and reinvesting. Call it Dortmund or RB or Benfica’s model, whichever you prefer. In the absence of direct capital injection AND massive profits allowing you to internally finance investment, that’s really the only option left.

- Frankly, with ALL of the gaps last summer, we probably should have considered selling some players. Now, that’s completely hindsight because I would have been deeply depressed had we sold a Bennacer, Tomori, or Kalulu last summer… But we missed a window where our player valuations were ridiculously high and we can’t make that mistake again if funds are desperately needed.

3) What do we do with all of these players that are either fodders or unproven? Sael, Messias, Pobega, CDK, Adli, Lazetic, Thiaw, Dest, Vranckx, etc.?

There are a lot of different categories of players in that list.

For me?

Messias and Dest need to go. Sales is a useful player to have, but I would want two wingers brought in, ideally one who can play both sides.

Pobega is a useful player in your midfield rotation.

Thiaw, Adli, and Vranckx? Who knows? We seldom see them play. I think they have shown they have talent, why they haven't gotten more time? Pioli has to answer for that, because before the results were able to justify their exclusions--but the results have been comically bad, and the performances so poor they are worrying. Thiaw and Adli are our players, so they'll stay. Vranckx will probably be sent back, I think, if they can't negotiate something lower than his 12m fee.

Lazetic? He needs to go on loan. Unless the kid explodes suddenly next year, he just needs to play. Let him go out on loan.

CDK? They're not going to give up on him, they are going to stick with players they believe in. Leao took two years to be where he is, and there was debate about selling him for 25m and that Rebic was better.

The positions where we need to reinforce are: CB, backup LB, CM, RW, backup LW, and ST.

So you're saying that he should have fired when we were second in the league six points behind Napoli and had advanced in the CL? (Season after winning the scudetto)

Thanks to a Calcio e Finanza report (via MilanLive), we are able to see all the payments made by Elliott Management into Milan’s accounts after the approval of the financial statements as of 30 June 2022 which occurred yesterday.

During the 2021-22 financial year the shareholder Project RedBlack (the holding company linked to Elliott which owned 99.93% of Milan) provided new payments to the Milan coffers worth €5m. These are new resources that must be added to the €533.25m injected between 2 August 2018 and 30 June 2021.

Looking at the overall calculation, and also considering the payments made after 30 June 2020, Elliott Management have put €538.25m into the club. Then, €300m must be added given what was ‘invested’ by the American fund to take over control of the club from former owner Yonghong Li.

We thus arrive at a gross amount of €838.25m, but then €128m must be subtracted which refers to the two bonds issued in June 2017 under Fassone’s management. That amount was in fact reimbursed to Elliott after Yonghong Li left the scene, so we arrive at a final total of €710.25m.

Elliott have kept two seats on the board in order to protect the investment of the €600m loan granted to RedBird Capital to help their takeover, so they will have the chance to invest more should they see fit.

About injecting money into clubs it's not just sugar daddies / families doing it. Injecting money into a cub is also a strategy to increase the value of the club. Elliott saw it that way for some time. They got the club for 300 mil, injected another 400 mil and then sold the club for 1.2 bil.

Even Chelsea are owned by an investment consortium that are ultimately looking to make a profit in the long term. They are ok with putting in big sums now because they think the value of the club will increase by a greater amount than what they put in.

Redbird is a much smaller fund than Elliott or the Chelsea consortium so maybe they think that it's more risky for them to pursue an agressive strategy to grow the club.

Thanks for the sources!

Damn, Elliott actually invested quite a lot in Milan then. Not sure where the "Elliott is so cheap" claims come from :conf:

I mean yeah as a fan you always want to see more, but it's not like they just took over from Li and then didn't do fuck all. It's a lot of money, and it could have easily backfired if the technical project wasn't carried so well and far beyond all our expectations by the management.

Not enough. They all need to be tortured and burned alive right at the San Siro center circle.

Kessie's agent didn't.

Still tho, we all have learned that words only go so far. At some point Leao has to make clarity about his true intentions.

If his agent wants more than to half the clause to 70M (from 150M), I suspect he has no intentions to stay with Leao at Milan at all and has evenmore already a buyer club up his sleeves waiting to trigger that new clause. In that case I understand why Maldini categorily blocks the renewal: If a club is going to offer ~70M anyway, why raise Leaos wages immediately and pay him almost 7M (gross) between now and July? Keep him at ~1,5M (gross) and cash-in in summer.

If there's no club and the intention is to stay for the medium-to-long-term, then why insisting on such a ridiculously low clause, especially compared to the super-star-wages he's claimin? If he wanted to stay, I don't think he insisted on a lower clause. Maybe removing it and let the market decide what's his price. But reduce it by more than 50%!? C'mon! That's bullshittery at its finest.

Tbh I can’t remember exactly how it went down but I thought they both said the same thing.
His agent came out and said there's no truth to Kessie rejecting what we offered and that don't believe in the numbers reported in the media.
This is what Kessie's agent said: "He’s an important player so he deserves an important contract. There are too many rumours about his renewal. Talks of a proposal for €6.5m net per season from AC Milan? The real figures are very far from these."

I think those are very different comments, in tone and in posture. Kessie's agent did not say that Kessie wants to stay at Milan during negotiations. He said that after while complaining about who got what salary at Milan, saying:
"We also rejected offers from important clubs in January, precisely because there was a strong desire to reach an agreement with Milan... There is one thing that strikes me as strange, which is that after Kessie’s farewell, it seems that certain ceilings that previously seemed insurmountable can now be breached.”

He then went on and acted like Kessie got the worst reception from Milan fans in comparison to... Donna, Hakan, and Romagnoli. Lol.

He got 6.5m from Barca--while Gab Marcotti (who tends to report about things pretty reliably) spoke at length about how whenever Milan would match the number that Kessie wanted, the number would rise, to the point that they stopped trying.

I'm not saying that Leao is going to renew, I just think it's clear that Leao's agents are acting very different to how Kessie's agent did.

I think it's telling that the comments specifically mention that the release clause is not trying to be lowered by Rafa or his representatives. Though, I see the wiggle room he left.
