Pioli definitely lost it - thought it was back on track but he and many of the players need to go. He had a bad or no game plan - that's one thing. Players look disinterested when they all know the deal.

Even if the coach is failing you I would expect to see players go out and give their all even if it's leading them down a poor path set by the coach but we didn't even get that.

Coach is the primary problem here. The squad is not as bad as Pioli has made them look since Jan.
As for transfer budget, we can sell anyone other than Leao, Theo or Maignan.
But Pioli has to go.

Lazio bought Romagnoli and Sarri. Roma got Dybala. Inter got Lukaku who is playing very good recently.Juve was underperforming.
We didn't got stronger. We never properly replaced Hakan and Kessie. We missed Rebić and Ibra goals.

Said it in the match thread. This squad, even with its baggage of some fodder still, is more than capable of securing top 4 at a minimum and fighting for Scudetto. Pioli's regression and decisions are baffling.

Any coach who can identify where our players actually belong in a role and can set them up for success would have top 4 locked a few rounds ago given the stupid points we've dropped so far.

I’d agree with this, just not with Pioli…
I also refuse to believe that he gets players he doesn’t want jammed up his throat. Given their apparent relationship (with management) and also some declaration made by both, there are some cooperation, some consultations on signings. The plan was clearly to “play” more/better and I think himself alluded to that at the beginning of the season (?) I could be wrong) … as the months passed and he couldn’t get it to work because of his stupid choices (SS at AM for example) and we were getting results by the skin of our teeth through individuals’ brilliance, he fully jumped on that. And has moved further and further In that. Imo, when looking at how things evolved, he’s the one who deviated from the line.

About giving him players “he wants” for his style. It’s like giving a kid what he want for breakfast lunch and dinner (ice cream, cookies, cake)…the style is too limited, it feels Coachless.
A coach is there (among other things) to create a system to maximize output from the players. And ideally, the system will yield a greater sum than the sum of the individual players, thanks to the tactical addition of the coach.
In other words, the players enhance the system and the system enhance the players.
Pioli’s current football is designed exactly for the opposite effect, expose the weaknesses of our players.

But again, all the fuck up he’s done could have been just mistakes he fixed and moved on…it’s ok to try something, even crazy, and it doesn’t work. Then you move away from it. The biggest problem with him is his lack of reasoning / common sense / stubbornness on shit that CLEARLY don’t work.

Someone said he wanted at least 1 more year of Pioli…and he’ll likely be kept. but by December, we’ll be looking for another coach to salvage the season.

Maybe we implode this season and deal with the fall out but at least avoid this scenario by Pioli out end of the season.
