The players clearly lacks conviction and belief. Perhaps if there were clear playstyles/schemes imprinted there would be something for the boys to fall back on. I'm not sure what schemes they are practicing because it more often than not looks like there is none, which however might be due to the player's complete lack of belief and the piss in their pants. This would mean Pioli isn't that good of a motivator after all. Has to be one way or the other. Yeah sure, but I don't think any serious club was interested in Salad... DId any decent offers come for him? Zlatan this year was only on around 1.5-2.5 mil contract plus bonuses ( which he won't get ). Origi is a fuckup as is Baka. But overall it isn't a huge amount of money lost. It's not like Arsenal losing Aubameyang and Lacazette for free after spending around 120 mil on them! And Arsenal could still go and buy Gabriel Jesus and challenge for the EPL title. You need to spend serious money as a top club.

Really? Thiaw has had maybe one poor game so far, and mostly great otherwise.

Kjaer has been solid the last couple of months, but has had a few aboslute blunders and was not good after his return from injury.
Tomori has had some shocking performances, and even frequent at times.
Kalulu has had his faults as well, some big mistakes.
Gabbia is Gabbia. I don't need to say anything there.

The two of Tomori and Kalulu have regressed a lot sadly from last season. I'm sure they can get back to their best, but who would you say has been better than Thiaw overall?

he had blunders in many games that could have cost us. his defending is still shaky and that's understandable considering where he comes from and how young he is.
he's already sitting on 5 yellow cards in just 1.000 minutes of playing time. for comparison: tomori has 5 in 2.400 minutes. this implies his frequently undisciplined defending.

all things considered, kjaer was our best defender this season, as sad as that may sound
tomori and kalulu had a world class form over 5-10 games at the end of last season. that's why i've always said we have to wait until tomori confirms it over a whole season. he was considered better than de ligt last summer.
