Suma says the last time we spent 200 million we finished 6th, we have been kicked out from the cups the following year and no player bought that season is still with us. He says we can't afford to spend big or will take forever to fix the numbers again
we were all there

70 mil is OK I suppose. Plus don't forget were getting 7.5 from pessina, so the figure should atleast be close to 80.

Kamada for 0, rlc 15 is a great start.

We should atleast be able to spend around 110 M, if we sell Messias, Rebic and CDK. Pick up SES and Kamada for free. Buy RLC for 15M and Sergej for 30M. For 65M, we should be able to get a good CF and a good RW.

Yeah, giving the new players a chance to participate in the whole preseason.

I don't think we'll be seeing Messias or Saelemaekers in 26/27 when we're expected to be one of the top 8 sides in Europe. They're good squad options and we can sell them if there's a good deal on thet able. At some point we will upgrade the right side. It's just a matter of time.
Very weird take given your response to PS
- Or are you saying that when we reach that status we will finally buy a good RW?

What the poster is saying is perfectly fine - we have had issues on the right for years and trying to find a cheap upgrade you would think is something they should prioritize but they kind of doubled down by re-signing Junior and extending Saelly.

To @pat_m_9 I would say they did try (rumored South American wingers) but the price was more than expected so nothing has happened as yet. Lets see how this summer goes.

That’s all?

For someone who likes to argue/debate, I thought you’d be better at it.
You escape through picking little excerpt when faced with arguments with a bit more substance than personal impressions and feelings

You insinuated that he got his chance and wasted it. Sam posted the minutes he played, which maybe amount to a chance for you…but in football, it doesn’t qualify as a fair chance…. 12 mins to close an already won game here, 6 min there.

I added that he got his first Serie A start on April 15th after being on the bench without coming on for 11 straight games over the course of ~3months. Opportunities left and right, right
Anybody who is a bit objective would agree these are not conditions to shine for an established player, let alone young new players … but he still held his own. As Sam again pointed he is strong (which is lacking in our midfield), tenacious. Closing out the Samp game with 10 men with Kessie like plays. And I’ll add he won us the fiorentina game in the 92”
In his 2nd start, which came a little over 2 weeks after after his first (the genius was experimenting with wholesale rotations) he was more comfortable spreading the ball directly to the wingers, putting us in attacking mode in a quick pass (The magic of continuity right?) That’s something we also lack…Bennacer used to do it but Pioli decided to “improve” him (dribble more).

I’m very impressed.

There’s no way to embellish it, the integration of new players was royally fucked with 2 dicks. and if one agrees with that, one can’t immediately turn and brand these players/transfers not worthy in the very next sentence.

With love, always ❤️

Wait what?

Let me put it out there first of all that Adli and Vrancxx did not get a fair chance to prove themselves. So it’s overall a bit unfair to judge their tenure based on their playing time.

However, how are you saying Adli impressed and Vran didn’t?

What exactly did Adli do? In the first half of the season, when he actually debuted Adli had like 30 minutes and he was genuinely awful. CDK looked much better at that point and the argument was that he’d make CAM his spot easily while Adli still needed more time to integrate. Adli also started vs Verona and he failed to impress. Looking all over the place.

Vrancx on other hand, showed some promise in the first half vs Fiorentina and Sampdoria. He essentially won us the game Vs Fiorentina. Not just with his involvement in the goal but the energy he brought.

Now after the WC, I agree that in the very limited time he showed, Vrancxx was underwhelming while Adli in comparison looked better vs Fioretina/Spezia.

But all I’m saying is that you’re either focusing too much on recency bias or you’re being unfair by claiming Adli was more impressive than Vrancx. Both had too little time to make a definitive conclusion.

I was asking Vran to be given Pobega's minutes since the begining of the season because Pobega is average & we need a DM.
We also needed Vran evaluated to decide if we wanna buy him.
Pioli decided not to & Vran didnt impress me regardless of how often he played.
Why would i need to write a wall of text explaining it ? Its my subjective opinion watching the game he played.
I did not say he got blew his chance.
Was it enough ? No.
Did he impress ? No.

Adli was treated worse.
Was he world class ? No.
Did he show more than Vran ? Yes.
Adli is ours while Vran on loan so its understandable that Vran need to show more for us to buy him.

gonna be a long summer

Just imagine we confirmed all our signings by July 1st and officially said the markets closed, and it was.... Fuck that would be beautiful.

Great to hear.

This has been gnawing at the back of my mind since his return. He must stay until he retires.

I have the feeling that Maldini is trying to build a dynasty slowly building the team and not selling key pieces even if they are 'easy' to replace. Example - Tomori sold for 50 m, new Thiaw bought for 10 m. 20 m pure profit, like 40 m capital gain and a good sub. On paper this is an amazing deal. And we had many of these offers for Theo, Bennacer, Leao, etc. And none of these players was sold. I don't think we even considered them.

Selling (as much as it is nice to grab some big bucks) is sending bad message to the players (both playing for Milan and all the rest). It means that you can have your ass shipped anytime which is not really something good for player development. And it means that we are not special in any way. Just another club that doesn't value the players as people, but only as assets. And Maldini is not that type of guy. Not that I know him personally, but I've been following this team for over 20 years and I have a pretty good idea about how it's run. And many of the former players said that Milan wasn't just their employer, but their family. Having said that I am 99% certain CDK will remain at least for another season because Maldini spent too much time negotiating for him just to throw him away after 10 months. So, unless some really good offers arrive (30+ m) and CDK himself requests a transfer, he will probably stay.

Maldini is adding important pieces to the puzzle every summer.
2019 - Theo, Bennacer, Leao
2020 - Tonali, Kalulu
2021 - Tomori, Maignan, Adli (I have no doubt he will become a good player once the bald fuck gives him a proper chance)
2022 - CDK (same as Adli), Thiaw
There are 2 problems:
1. He inherited an absolutely ass team. He is not upgrading the team he inherited, he is literally building a new team. From our 2020 team it's only Calabria left.
2. He doesn't have the money to proceed quickly and is forced to often take gambles with players like Origi, Florenzi, Dest, etc. because he can't afford the players he initially wanted. Yeah, he has some major fuck ups, but it's normal.

If Pioli quits alcohol and remembers how to play football, this is a backbone of a team for at least the next 6-7 years. And this is some serious level of talent. Yes, some players will go, but the backbone would still be there. And once this backbone gels (Pioli, I am looking at you) and Maldini adds another 2-3 important pieces (CF, RW, CM), we can start kicking some serious ass.

Point is, even if you sell players for profit or just have a shit ton of money because of the owners and you bring shinny new toys all the time, it does not necessarily mean that you are upgrading the team. Examples - Chelsea in 2022/2023, Real's Galacticos, PSG, etc.

Even the richest teams took years to be build and in our case it will probably take 2 more years before we can call Milan a CL contender again, but we are definitely on the right track (although I have major doubts about Pioli's capabilities) and selling some key players (even if it's for profit) is probably against Maldini's plan.
Good post but we back to shitting on Pioli again despite him delivering the results :proud:

Could we insert an "injury clause" please... I really hope it's not a yearly occurrence :(

You are all aware that by 31 august:
- mostly from the commode will give a 6/10 grade to summer mercato
- have a fresh list of player for the winter mercato
- player(s) which agreed personal terms with Milan but end up in Mid table EPL due to a "few" million euros offer difference
- maybe 0.2% of rumored/discussed new players will be signed
- 5% chance of guessing which player(s) MM had in plan to sign
- 100% transfer coming from the nowhere, I mean for the 1st team (not primavera or other junior segment)
- transfer budget nowhere the sum mentioned these days
- lots of Maldini doing drugs on Ibiza instead of signing new players
- complains about current players contract extension
- "Gerry is poor" mentioned by > 100.000 times
- complains about "this XY player adds nothing to the team"
- hoping Benna will get better sooner than expected
- lots of comments with transfers ( good or bad) which are totally not related to Milan
- One of our problematic field sides remains in "fine as we are"

All will end with re-naming the commode and hope to finished 2nd in the UCL group

I wouldn't mind keeping CDK for another year, but I can't see him fit in any position if we would get both Kamada and Sergej. He's just way too passive and takes too much time to play in the AM position and he's too slow to play in RW.
He’s a CF/SS

I'm torn on RLC. He's got talent, but is he taking up a spot that could otherwise be filled by someone who is better suited to our needs and overall a better player too.

We all accept that as a pairing, and especially when playing with Diaz, Bennacer-Tonali can get exposed. However, with Krunic alongside them, the difference was huge. I agree that RLC isn't the pure DM we are crying out for but in a 3 man midfield, he does offer something Tonali and Bennacer don't and is superior to Krunic in many aspects too.
I don't like the idea of having Krunic, Pobega and RLC in the squad though. Different but not different enough. Frustrating to not see us linked with Samardzic. Really rate him. He's what Krunic thinks he is. Much much more useful offensively.

Hmm.
I don't like this ongoing joke of RLC playing as our starting RW.

We're going to need another RW once again if that's what we're signing him for

That's why I'm asking, I don't get that he'd be the best...

If we have a limited budget why waste a quarter say, on a player thats an opportunity, rather than identify a target and get him, even if it's double a RLC.

I've heard that's he's a better version of salad, a CM, a RCM, a DM and everything in-between.

We have a Swiss army knife, what is this guys position, what does he actually bloody do... No one has said he's a "defensive AM" or he's a right sided midfielder. He's always a little bit of this and a little of that.

I've not seen many say he's this and he's awesome at that, and it's that simple.

Folk seem to have bought into transfer frenzy and want a new toy asap.

I'm want to know what the fuck a RLC is haha.

Not being a dick, it's just odd seeing the positivity surrounding this move when he's just very meh it appears.

Id pay 10 mil more for Musah over RLC every day of the week and resta easy.

It's all just opinions, I'm just looking for someone to sell me on RLC... It's not happening so far.
Great question...what the fuck does RLC actually do and how would signing him benefit us? Yes he's tall and has a very easy on the eye, graceful, elegant playing style but when you look at the numbers he doesn't offer much else. After all, his EPL goal contributions over the past 3 seasons are simply LAUGHABLE (just 1.66 vs. 19 for SMS in Serie A) whereas even Tonali averages almost double the number of tackles + interceptions as him and triple the number of blocks (although RLC has double the number of clearances). Meanwhile, SMS' defensive stats are much stronger and almost identical to Tonali's (although Tonali is slightly better at tackling whereas SMS has significantly more clearances).

Therefore, what the fuck are we actually signing RLC for let alone spending c.15m on a ROTATIONAL player with just one year left on his contract who Chelsea are desperate to offload? Do we have some sort of secret agreement where we have to buy a player from Chelsea every summer? Sorry but this signing makes absolutely NO sense plus he has every chance of flopping in Serie A given that he's coming from abroad and has never been a regular.
