Why would you be surprised? Keeping Maldini as (a demonstrably) great SD is one thing, but it's also the credibility he gives you, the ability to deflect poor choices from Redbird and the ability to turn local Milan fans' opinion away from wanting to stay at San Siro, to clamoring for a new stadium.

I feel like you're putting things in a way to put it on Maldini, like... was it really Maldini's choice to wait until the last second? Or was Redbird haggling until the end? And for what? To give up on him after a season?

If Maldini wants more money for transfers, why would he want to use those extra funds for Brahim and Arnautovic? Brahim's fate doesn't even seem like it's in his hands, to begin with.
Yes, like I said if it wasn't for the PR aspect Maldini would have been fired last summer

Doesn't matter, Redbird pays the bills they get to decide the approach

I don't agree with it but it's a losing battle for Maldini. Everyone needs to move forward under the same vision otherwise it will be a disaster

And I'm gonna bet the guy who spent 1.2b on the club will win out

All this tension, maybe they should just fuck #nohomo

But just to clarify, no one actually knows anything, right... like we know nothing, fuck all, nadda!!!

So what are we basing anything actually on?

I'd be surprised, either way, move on last summer was a disaster

Clearly, he wasn't happy with the project last summer and waited until the last second to sign. Maybe he thought a CL SF run would change the vision

And if Maldini's plans are Brahim and Arnautovic...thanks for pulling the club out of the banter era but there's the door
Ok pal.

Looks like the real issue is Maldini wants indipence and on the other hand Cardinale wants a director that follow both Milan and Tolosa and this director would be higher than Maldini on the hierarchy

Based on what?

You have beat the drum that CDK was the biggest waste of money and you have championed the idea that Moncada will fix everything.

So you're a huge fan of Vranckx and CDK, both Moncada picks, right?
Whoever chose CDK needs accountability.
I am assuming that Moncada provided many files & Maldini made the choice.

And then sell them 2 years later. If Maldini goes, forget about renewing players like Leao and Theo.
Thank fuck the important players are locked up because otherwise I would be having a panic attack

When clueless Americans come into another country and think they know better than the people that have been living there for centuries or even millenia...
I think you´re forgetting that it was Americans who saved Milan from a decade long decline. It´s Italians and Italians alone who are responsible for Serie A´s fall off over the past 25 years.

That said, spending next to nothing this window could prove disastrous

Why would he have been fired? He is an excellent SD and did an awesome job under Elliott. I don't get where you make that statement from.

Sure, they get to pay the bills, that's true. But if they move on from Maldini, they have to win... immediately. If you think Bonaventura nostalgia is sickening or revisionism over Kessie and Hakan... imagine if Redbird don't win right away?

Leao, Theo, Maignan, Bennacer, Tonali, etc, your strongest players are staying because of Maldini.

It's like when a manager of some national team leaves behind some star player. If he wins, wonderful, the gamble worked. If you don't win, then, the manager is a moron.

If Redbird fire Maldini, in the immediate-term: they have to impress the fans with their signings. Short-term: they have to win... now. Expectations are not back to "normal" Milan but... they're getting close. If Redbird turn Milan into some machine, then fans will thank Maldini, say that he put in the foundation for this, and move on. If it fails? It will be a clusterfuck.

Redbird doesn't seem to know which site they want to build their new stadium on, so they're not exactly filling me with confidence with the side of the business they're supposed to be the best at. This isn't finding cheap land in Texas to build some taxpayer-funded stadium.

If Kamada is his replacement people are going to appreciate Diaz a lot more when the season starts.
Kamada at worse case scenario seems like a Hakan which is already a free upgrade over Diaz.
Diaz needs to go.

CDK was scouted by Moncada and you want to put him in charge.

Look Wild:
He was a moncada pick almost 3yrs ago now, btw. That's a factual.
I know, and Pioli did a wonderful job integrating the kid.

I was reading some comments on Voetbalzone regarding Zlatan and there are some people who think that he isn't a top 10 striker of his generation. Some folks rate Torres, Villa and Falcao above Zlatan! Others think that Lewandowski is a better player. R&B is a crazy place sometimes, but this is just mind blowing.

Doesn't matter if he is in the right or wrong

I don't understand why he renewed in the first place when this was clearly the approach

If you cannot work within the parameters set by ownership move on, don't hold the club hostage
So you would prefer an SD who is a yesman to the owners and accepts even the lowest budgets instead of one who will fight till the end to increase it? To strenghten the squad as much as possible?

Maldini doesn't hold our club hostage, he loves our club more than anyone else, and he wants to build a successful, winning team. As long as Maldini is here in the management, I trust that we are building a team whose goal is to win titles.

If he leaves, it will be worrying for me, and it would signal that homeless Gerry wants to build the Italian Dortmund.

I think the summer mercato failure is not only Maldini's fault, but because Pioli is an idiot. While the Dest, Origi, and Messias signings were a flop, Thiaw was a hit (he could have contributed even earlier if Pioli gives him a chance), Vrankx and Adli should have been given way more chance. Also with a competent coach, CDK may have integrated well to our team, and wouldn't have regressed into pussy mode.

Because they don't agree on the vision

Maldini wants Milan to be run like a top club despite being 2nd rate financially, Redbird obviously disagrees

Yes Redbird has been a disaster but Maldini is up against an immovable object here and the head guy closing with ownership doesn't seem ideal

I think the only striker from this generation I'd put above Ibra is Suarez

Damien Comolli signed Andy Carroll for Liverpool.

That's who will replace Maldini.

Enjoy justifying it.
