Something tells me that the vibe in here would be very different if Juve still had those 10 points.

Yep and the ownership looked at it that way too.

Yeah, Moncada scouted Adli, Vranckx, and CDK. So, I'm not exactly full-of-confidence in this ownership group who doesn't even know what plot of land they want to use to build their stadium on.

Stability brings success. If you make big changes, like this, especially when you are borrowing money like Redbird are, then you have to succeed or you are fucked.
Isn’t this what people are asking?

For Elliot to take back control

So none of the players that were brought in... were brought in on Moncada's recommendation?
Do you have a scenario that make more sense than Maldini getting fired over his bad performance in mercato one year after he waged war to have full authority ?

I think both maybe true - he got fired because of the poor market and wanting more money this summer and the budget is indeed the same amount as the past summer.

The more this unfolds, this is making me think of some of those scummy owners in Major League sports that have know they dont need to win to be profitable, worse still they know they can do the least and still be profitable. San Siro was jam packed even though we were sputtering - every matchday jam packed, he doesnt need to spend much more to keep that rolling in.

I hope too we hit homeruns on he market but just looking at what transpired so far it doesnt point to us trying to climb the mountain.
Do you think its sensible for Maldini to ask for more money after a failed mercato where he had all the power one year after he struck a deal & signed a new contract ?

Ok Gerry didn’t trust Maldini with more than €50m, no problem. Please give Moncada more than 50m. He’ll make better use of it.

They are playing for Milan and not Maldini. They should know that. Milan is bigger than anything.

Why is it always 1 step forwards 2 steps back smh. Lets see who Gerry hires now, but it seems that one of the biggest reasons is not just the lack of investment, but signing players for the squad vs only signing players with potentially high resale value. Which works for Liepzig but Milan is different

How about Maldini wanted enough funds to be competitive and Gerry doesn't give a toss about beinf competitive so will now install some yes men that won't care if we are not aiming to be competitive.

I guess we will see.
What i know is our choices went south as soon as Maldini took full power.
I didnt want Maldini gone.
Instead i wanted a shift in decision scheme.
Redbird appointing Moncada is a good sign.
I would be more worried if they got a suit to replace Maldini.
My reading is thst Moncada will be unleached within the given budget.

Moncada is smart. He can do a good job, but he also needs cash to spend. If you could get to level of Real, Bayern, Man City with just spending 40-50 mil then all the directors of these big clubs would be ******s for not having someone like Moncada and instead they spend hundreds of millions on top players.

Now with a top SD and good scouting, you don't need to buy 100 mil players but you still need the capacity to pay 20-30 mil for a player that the SD likes without thinking too much and needing multiple approvals.

Now I’m cooled down a bit.

I think this whole thing is planned well in advance. Gerry Cardinale will never keep Maldini in the long run. He bought Milan as an investment opportunity, not for sporting success. He didn’t dare to sack Maldini because he needed a smooth takeover and transition. Maldini at Milan is always too much for Cardinale to handle, there was and will always be collision in vision if Maldini stays.

It’s obvious now Maldini’s last mission was to renew all the remaining contracts, and Cardinale can’t wait to dump him after season was over. The manner of sacking shows Cardinale not only wanted to sack Maldini, but also to humiliate him. I think poor performance for last mercato is just an excuse. He is taking revenge on Maldini for dragging his contract situation last year for more power and budget.

The feeling now is that we will go full-swing money ball and just like Red Bull teams and Dortmund, no player is untouchable at the club if a suitable offer arrives. Red bird will just pocket the money and buy a younger substitute. It’s safe to say Cardinale will not put in a penny into summer mercato, I remember him talking about team needs to be “self-sufficient” and the only way to do that for the current Milan is through player sales.

I’m preparing myself for the departure of Theo either this year or the next because Red Bird will not renew his contract again. I’m preparing myself not get attached to any of the players because they will be sold at their premium market values. I’m preparing myself to accept AC Milan to become a steeping stone for promising players if Red Bird stays long enough.

Great job Red Bird and Cardinale, just when the fans see glimpse of hope and think the team is on the right track, you bring us straight back to reality.

I can’t believe some of you judge Maldini simply by his mercato performance. What he brought to the club is the DNA of AC Milan. He connects players to the history of this club; he instils winning mentality and creates this Milan environment no other clubs have in the world; He makes players proud of playing and fighting for this club!
The last sentence says what is it ALL ABOUT him and Ibra were the people who turned these players in what they are today, they changed their mindsets and to lose both of them in 24 hours is huge blow, especialy for Leao,Theo,Mike and Tonalli, they are backbone of the team, this wont go down easy.
