Two things. One you know I was pro Maldini staying. I am essentially judging he and Pioli the same. I never said Pioli didn’t make any mistakes this season along the way, I think this was a learning curve for the entire staff(top to bottom) on how to manage a team with raised expectations. So I’m not anti Maldini pro Pioli. I wanted both to stay and I think they together would have steadied the ship.

A couple things regarding the specific stuff from the season. One I don’t the season is quite as bad as you’re painting it. If last summer you were told Milan would make the CL semifinals and confirm a third consecutive top 4 finish, most of us would have said that’s more than fine. At the very least you would have been ok with that, nothing to cry over. Of course there were some very bad spots along the way, I’m not denying that. And the team got worse, which is something for concern and something Pioli needs to be talked to about from those above him. But I do think the team showed they still know how to beat the other big teams in the league, they still looked title challengers for half the season, they showed growth in Europe, and once again they showed some ability to win at the end of the season when their backs were against the wall. I have seen many, many teams fall from grace more than our current season just was. And that’s objective.

And I’ll add that if we had been eliminated in the group stages, I think this team comfortably finishes 2nd in the league. And to be clear, that’s not an excuse. This team won a title and we both know going as far as possible in every tournament is the goal from here on out. I just do think it highlights squad depth. A LOT of dropped points to worse teams were when Pioli rotated the team.

I guess I’ll just add my point is it’s not Maldini vs Pioli to me. Like I said, I was fine with both staying. I think they all deserved a summer to see if they can “correct” things.
This is fair, I just think that Pioli's mistakes as a manager are considerably worse than Maldini's in the transfer market.

For all the nitpicking on Maldini's transfers, the fact Pioli doesn't have a coherent style of play against teams that sit, is damning, in my view. The fact he doesn't seem to understand his own tactics, nor which of his tactical looks work best, is shocking.

Exactly. RedBird used a subpar season to justify getting their own guys in and/or the old guard out. They would have waited as long as it took, but they pounced on the decisions made on the market and the 4th* place finish.

Maldini+Massara was doing fine, and who knows where the team would have gone had they had their mercato this summer.

In any event, I’m anxious to see how RedBird’s first official window looks and the results that play out. Anything less than CL qualification and CL quarterfinals run should be responded to by Milanisti with riots at Casa Milan.
For me, if Moncada's first market isn't an immediate success, then this is an instant failure. We should win the Scudetto, that is my expectation, because I have been told that Maldini has hindered this team with his poor transfers in 2022, and of course, the delays in the summer were not due to Redbird's lack of preparation, but Maldini all of a sudden.

I'm more flexible on the CL since it is a knock-out tournament. However, I'm expecting one Enzo, one Muani, and one Kvara level player from Moncada this summer--Moncada has never picked a bad player, I've been told, and since Pioli is helping him "pick the ingredients" I look forward to seeing Pioli's vision in full flight.

What if that’s Moncada’s doing? We’re all making assumptions. As much as we think we know, we don’t know nothing lol
You are trying to take Kamada away from me bro? You're cruel.

Here's my prediction: if Kamada does great, it will be chalked up to Moncada. If he does badly, I bet it'll be stuck on Maldini.

Amrabat would be a good profile instead of butt cheeks. His contract expires in 2024 I believe. Fiorentina won’t make it reasonable though

There is also the fact that Maldini extended him so obviously it will cost to hire another coach.
Even if he wasn't extended who were they going to hire???

It would only be a similar tier coach. I think his extension is the least. Pioli has made management look like geniuses despite all of the transfer windows but if the same issues continue next season may be very difficult.

Rafa has to be magical and the defence as a whole needs to sort itself out especially if we continue to struggle offensively.

I can't wait to see the players brought in.

If Moncada was that good, he would be the God of football and worth more than Mbappe and Halland combined! If he can even bring in one player at the level of Enzo, Muani or Kvara each year, that would be huge. But with a 35 mil mercato even that would be difficult. Let's see if Redshit at least gives him some decent resources and we will see what happens.

I still think this team havent outgrow Pioli.
Also Pioli is the one who unleached MM , Theo , Leao , Kalu , Thiaw , Tomo.
Am sure those players are happy they will see Pioli next season.
Imagine them loosing Maldini , Ibra & Pioli.

Milan tried an insertion on Ndicka, I think it's too late. He tried to figure out if he signed. Maybe a late attempt. Roma has been given the floor

Milan, we continue on Kamada. An opportunity with those numbers cannot be missed. Loftus, we have to understand if Milan will continue. Pulisic real name, high demands, salary of 5 million. For the forward if Okafor who can be taken on excellent terms (Di Marzio)
Ndicka at his introductory press conference with Milan, “ I was about to sign for Roma, but Furlani called me and I couldn’t say no to Furlani.”

Messi craze is upon us. Inter Miami vs Orlando tickets are now going for $400+

These tickets never exceed $30-40 usually

I was thinking the number of appearances those new signings made all season.
Dest started a few games, and faded into nothingness.
CDK barely had any decent game time.
Adli has.... 7 minutes?
Vranckxx had a couple games mid January and also faded.
Pobega around 10ish games?
Thiaw has been the only constant.

If Gerry and his team only look at statistics, that's all they'll see, that Paolo's signings weren't used much and when they were, they were usually in games that Milan lost. The human aspect of why this was gets taken out.

Analytics at it's finest. How many of these players "got on base".
As @Milan10 put it, I think Maldini was fired more for his lack of alignment on the future of the club rather than just his performance on an isolated transfer window

Double downing on his mistakes via press conferences certainly didn’t help

does it honestly make you feel better to believe that grown men, making millions, care so deeply about a director that they want to leave a club over his dismissal?
Very few big clubs have club legends in pivotal positions: some examples are Real Madrid and Liverpool.

People still want to play for the club. The allure is still there. The talk of us being a soulless club is premature. Milan is still Milan and it’s still a premier destination for any footballer, and easily the biggest in Italy.

Not to move goalposts but our team currently finished 5th on the pitch. A comfortable top 4 finish, while not ideal, would represent an improvement on this season.

If Inter keep their main players, which I think they might given their CL final run, I still think they go into next season as overwhelming favorites for the Scudetto.

I can see Napoli getting dismantled with Osimhen and Spaletti gone - Kvara has considerably cooled off as well.

Kamada is doing to do great that I’m sure of

Agree, Inter will be favorites and I think Kamada can excel if Pioli plays him more like Hakan.

I hope we sign Kamada, Openda, and a bunch of youths for RW (South America?), DM, RB, backup LW. We can supplement the net 50M budget with loan + options and free signings.

We have the resources to compete with Inter next season, it would really help if CDK and Adli rise up. Vranckx too if he stays.

This would be a strong attack:

——-—-Openda
Leao—Kamada—CDK
———-DM-Tonali
Theo-Tomori-Thiaw-RB
——-——— 🦅

Need upgrades at DM (Kessie replacement) and RB to contribute to the attack against bunkered teams especially. Of course, if we can find a good RW solution I’m all for it.

Sell Rebic, Origi, Messias.
