I thought you liked Moncada? :(

I hated how everything unfolded, it was disrespectful no doubt about it. I don't think we should've made any changes. But I can't help being happy that it's Moncada stepping up considering everything. Didn't he have a big role in those stacked Monaco teams?

I have no beef with Moncada, but the double standards and hypocrisy is just silly in here...
Maldini was apparently judged and sentenced on his transfers and stance on how Milan should be run.

Therefore Moncada should be judged on his transfers, no?

Maybe one window is a little harsh, but in 18 months well know if this move pays off or not.

Do I wish Moncada to fail, no, that's just ******ed, and I don't think any pro-maldini folk want that either.

I think it's the way people have so quickly thrown Paolo under the bus... No loyalty or respect for a great man. It's a real shame.

Paolo isn't above judgement, but it's yet to be seen if this is or isn't a good move.

I'm intrigued to see if Paolo will speak... But I think he'll hold a dignified silence.

This kid has done more for Milan than all of the duplicitous cretins in here, so he will have my support.... Not above my support for Milan, but his termination may well have an adverse effect on our club. That's what worries me.

Grazia Paolo x

I think that until May next year no one will come close to Inter, in May we will see if Suning is able to payback Oaktree or if Oaktree takes control of the club, until then i think they'll go on this way but it's impossible they don't sell anyone next summer, rumors are they need +60 from the mercato

Who is the real sellable assets. Martinez and Barella. Martinez would be waiting on Real don't think he wants to go to England. And Barella is in a situation who needs him and has the money available.

I can't stand you suddenly being in the driver's seat of the Negative Forces.

You have turned to the dark side as if Cardinale had carried out "Order 66".

Wait so we can't blame one person if it's Moncada, but we can blame one person if it's Maldini lol

View attachment 20612

If the buck can stop at Maldini it can stop with Gerry's pick in Moncada... I want Moncada to succeed, pull rabbits out hats and drive this team forward.

But if this move by Gerry doesn't work someone will be a scapegoat... It'll be Pioli for me, but Moncada is a close second.

If you believe in someone, something, and it doesn't work out... You get ruthless and sack them right????!!!!!

No, that's not what I'm saying. I think it's all bullshit...but for the sake of how this was presented to us....they said that the sporting area will be led by an integrated team. I'm not even sure we HAVE a Sporting Director now. So I'm just playing a devil's advocate. If it's an integrated team, there is no fall guy. If this "integrated team" fails, they all need to gtfo!

So exactly to your point....shitbag Gerry will probably find a scapegoat. And it'll likely be Pioli first and foremost. Unless he wins a title, Pioli is 100% gone. But yes, maybe even Moncada. Furlani will find a way to make it his fault.

Damn I didn’t know that. He did that during peak covid period as well

That would explain why Paolo didn’t want him.

Another negative with Paolo leaving, these corporate guys will just look at results solely and ignore the human element. Paolo made sure to hire players who not only were quality but represented Milan properly.

That’s why I always felt 100% safe with him. He builds a family.

I do trust Pioli with this though, I’m sure he’ll pick the better characters. He definitely wouldn’t want to deal with another Rebic/Dest situation.

With that said, Thuram did apologise and one bad incident shouldn’t define him. So let’s give him a chance
I couldn’t care less if a player is an asshole on the field. Just don’t prefer shit bags off the field. I’m all for that. If not for all the cameras I’d be begging for players who kick ankles and jab ribs when the refs not looking. Part of the head game in sports.

The free players aren't actually "free". Inter paid Lukaku a salary of around 17 mil gross for the year, Hakan is on 9.2 mil gross as is Dzeko.
Inter has been spending much, much more than Milan has. Marotta is a good manager but can he win consistently with Milan level of spending?

Milan's squad costs have been much lower the last 2 years. But yeah, if Inter owners keep paying up, then they can keep doing well.

Well yes but I don't think the level of spending is what's being discussed here. They have been spending more and have higher squad costs. And guess what, this year they finished the league in a higher position and they are in a CL final. I guess that's what you get for spending more?

My issue is with doom and gloom posts from the media that come out every year to tell us how a club X has to sell and how they are going under. We went through this last year with Barcelona and then they won the league, comfortably.

Now it's with Inter and they are in a CL final.

Notice how the same poster that was bragging about Barcelona's and Inter's impeding doom got absolutely destroyed. Same with Marotta vs Maldini. Pure embarrassment.

So who were the Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich in Moncada’s long apprenticeship??

(pulling your leg - I’m totally for the appointment, but it’s very different to Jackson/Kerr).

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Greg Popovich famously fired his coach and took over coaching duties .... the rest is history.
context - they drafted Timmy D

Rafa gonna need to put in serious work

Being negative is so fucking easy.

Watching the negativity force being positive has done two things:

1) makes me appreciate the true positivity force, who are still gracious and wonderful

And

2) realize how shitty negativity force was at being negative, and how terrible they are at being positive now.
Give us names or keep it on the playground

Now I get the game you're playing here

Okay okay, I take everything back I've said. Procceed :)

Just one word of advice: I don't think that's you. It's fun now, but I forsee you won't hold through. Season is just too long, and you're not that guy. It will either mentally break you or you'll come back to the light soon. I'll be there eagerly waiting for you – if you want :)

"unless they find some hidden gems for a few million"

earlier you said:

"bought no one apart from Kebab for free, Dzeko for free, Mikytharian for free and Lukaku on loan."

And guess what, those free players they signed actually performed. Dzeko has been immense.

What makes you think that they will all of a sudden stop being able to find decent and cheap players?

There's a very good reason why Marotta still has a job and Maldini doesn't.
Marotta has been excellent and lucky too, good for him, still i believe this summer they will have to sell someone and Marotta will have to be excellent and lucky again, he can't afford any error. They bought as we said Calhanoglu, Onana, Dzeko and Mikytharian for free and Lukaku on loan, at some point they can't just keep buying useful player for free is not sustainable, you might say that i can't give you any evidence that they all of a sudden won't be able to find hidden gems again and you are right but if i was interista i would be worried

For me the SD is a longer term position that has a much more macro lens through which to evaluate them.

Managers have a much micro lens of evaluation.

This is why Maldini being fired concerns me. It isn't even about Maldini, the person, but even if we had some random guy named Alessandro ArBeNelli as our SD, I would find the firing concerning, especially while keeping on Pioli.

The fact he is Maldini, obviously makes their decision far riskier, in my eyes, which raises concern about the project and Redbird--because Milan doing well is what we care about.

If Redbird wins, no one will give a shit, probably including me, with people crediting Maldini with the foundation of this success.

But I am concerned about the prospect of winning.

The Ndicka links makes sense given we haven't had a natural left-footed defender since Romagnoli left, but I'd be surprised if Roma managed to lose him to us whilst we're shuffling the entire management. If he's given his word to Roma and Mourinho, there's little we can do.

Regardless, I'm not sold on him as I was with Botman last year. There will always appear a batch of left-footed defenders with experience playing in a back four that we can sign.

I don't think Maldini's behavior has ever been a concern.

The Warriors were vindicated, because they won. If they didn't, Kerr would have been lambasted, and Jackson would have been a "what if" story.

If Redbird do not win, the fans will revolt. The only passionate American fans are in college sports. European clubs' fans are more similar to American college sports fans in their passion and zeal.

Winning is the only antidote here. And unlike Jackson, Maldini has won already, thus making the stakes even higher in this situation.

It's quite telling that 9 years later Jackson hasn't been hired again by another team. Noones had a What if we hire Jackson will we get the same sort of trajectory that the Warriors had when he was fired. Obviously he deserved another chance somewhere. There are stories that have been put out there about Jacksons strange behaviour behind the scenes.

I was a big fan of hitting the opposing striker as early as possible and as hard as fucking possible without getting a card to make a statement. Get them looking over their shoulder every time they get a touch.

Barca has such huge revenues that even after doing all those levers that give up future revenues, the reduced future revenues are still much higher than most clubs. It didn't make sense that they would go bankrupt!

For Inter, some people had this notion that the Zhangs were these idiots who had gone completely bust and broke. This was some kind of wishful thinking without any proper evidence.

Though on Marotta vs Maldini, it's not clear how Marotta would do if he was limited to Milan's level of spending. It would definitely have some impact on their team's performance. Their points in Serie A would would definitely be lower by maybe 7-14 points and they probably wouldn't be in the CL final.

@Gazzetta_it explains the coach has indicated the areas of intervention, namely a MF, RW, an AM & CF, several names in his sight, including Kamada, Loftus-Cheek, Baldanzi, Pulisic, Marcus Thuram and Watford striker Sarr.

Gonna be interesting to see how we can pull this off with a '35M budget'.
With the exception of Pulisic this would be a very good market..

Marotta spent less than Maldini last summer. And the summer before that. The guy is head and shoulders better SD than Maldini ever could dream of being.

Who is going to take Gabbia's place in the CL lists? They can't add N'Dicka instead of Gabbia in the lists if they keep everyone else from last year. There are 4 places in the list of 25 players that can only be club grown players.

I did not know about these issues, I do not think these apply to Maldini.

I am a very casual observer of American sports, I think the larger point about making a big decision, raises expectations still stands, or would you disagree?

The lack of credit given to Maldini for some of his work is staggering... I feel pro-maldini folk are very aware of his fails and weaknesses. Anti-maldini folk are just full of vitriol, to a man that has done so much for our club.

Why some folk can't just thank Paolo and state their case for the new regime without attacking Maldini constantly is pathetic.

I'll say it again, let's let the dust settle, then the next couple of weeks will be a fucking ride!!!
