im not saying its a bad transfer. he's an alright defender but not a world beater..tho i dont know why he'd pick sitting on the bench for us over starting for roma. we'll see what happens :)
Apparently he's not on that much at City so it's not a deal-breaker.

I have trouble believing that Maldini would want to appoint Pirlo as our next coach, especially as Italiano was the rumored choice, for example.

I think comparing Jackson and Maldini is grossly off-the-mark.
Easy target for a dictator. No spine Andrea would have blended well Maldini's gimme the keys and do what I say culture.

All these ex B&G players who became coaches have a screw loose thinking they must do deals inviting agents and family for caviar on tropical islands

This is what's being reported by every outlet:

Marotta left Juventus for Inter. He gets to spend less at Inter than at Juve. He's doing just as well as Inter. He's already proven to be able to work with a tighter budget.

Also, how do you know if he would do any worse with a tighter budget? Isn't this the same level of wishful thinking as "Inter is going down" that started this whole discussion?

Yeah I agreed Lukaku salary is 8.5 mil net. This becomes 17 mil gross. Growth decree comes in force if you stay 2 or more years. So if he stays another year, it's around 11 mil gross for each of the 2 years, but if Chelsea take him back then it's 17 mil for the 1 year. 11 or 17 mil gross that's really high as are the salaries of Hakan and Dzeko.

If Marotta can do just as well with a lower budget then why do they let him spend more? If he can make CL final and top 3 in Serie A with break even then why do they let him make 200 mil of losses? When he was at Juve they won the scudetto every year for many years in a row. So far, at Inter he has 1 scudetto, so it's a long way to meet the Juve achievements.

I'm not saying that Marotta is a bad SD / CEO. He is one of the best around.

But again, how do you compare to a SD of a much higher spending team to a much lower spending one? How do you know that Milan's SD ( Maldini or Moncada or person XYZ ) won't do better than Inter if they are allowed Inter's level of spending and losses? If Milan's squad cost was the same as Inter's, you don't think they could get at least a few points more in the league?

I think Atalanta's CEO must be one of the best. As he's performing at a high level over the last few years with a super low amount of spending on transfers and salaries and has also found really good players like Hojlund, Lookman, Koopmeiners, Pasalic...

Who cares who was at the top at the end of 1st half? 1st half of the season is irrelevant. It's where you end up at the end of the season that counts.

The season also includes cups. Those games are a part of the entire season. I agree that they finished only 2 points higher than us but they also knocked us out of the two cups.
I don’t think you got the point. I didn’t say the first half mattered only, or mattered more. I said those points count, and that is why we finished close to them in the table. You literally just wrote only where you end up in the table is what counts. Which is what my point was! They finished higher and are better, but not by a great amount.

The same logic would say Milan is better than Napoli because we have their number. Played 4 times, only lost once and thrashed them along the way. But clearly we’re not…because again, the table is the biggest indicator. It’s not that theyre not better. It’s that it isn’t a huge difference.

I play in a competitive league now. But they had to remove sliding, which I think is partly due to injuries but also because all the fields now are artifical grass.

It has made things better.

I disagree. Theo and leao are the two main pillars of the team, I also think he will stay here for long if not his whole career (just my opinion).
theo has stayed here because of paolo and paolo only, he'll be the first to go if redbird wanted to capitalize on one of our stars

Imagine if Pirlo actually became a Carlo or Pep level coach at Milan, Camarda being Pirlo's Messi, and I would have to pretend to love Pirlo for years.

Not at all. He might have one one or two more scudettos but we are very consistent in CL. Five years in a row at least SF. In additional please do not forget to he made players out of Gattuso, Pirlo and Seedorf. Prior to Ancelottie forming once of the best midfield in the history of football, Prilo was a failed Inter AMC loaned to Bressica and Reggina when he could not score a goal. We got him almost for free, toghther with Seedord exchanging likes of Brncic, Coco and Umit Davala for them. Also he made both Sheva and Kaka golden balls. Kaladze was another player he made almost a WC. He came from D. Kiev for peanuts.. and even Inzaghi was puchased at half price using Zenoni in exchange. Only Nesta and Rui Costa were true investment at that time. Kaka was purchase as a backup for Rui Costa for 8M. Players like Stam, Cafu, Crespo we purchases in their late career stages for insiginficant amoutn of money or loaned from other clubs. That being said, he made a miracule out of this team.

Ancelotti was interviewed by Il Giornale and was asked for his thoughts that his former team-mate and player has been sacked from his role, with his comments relayed by SempreMilan.it.

“I learned in Madrid that the history of a club must always be respected. Here Di Stefano, Amancio, Gento, Puskas are still exclusive values towards which we have reverence,” he said.

“To preserve history at the highest levels, the memory of the past must be protected. What happened with Maldini demonstrates a lack of historical culture, of respect for the Milan tradition. While it is true that history does not make you win it is also true that history teaches you how to win.

“Football clubs who primarily think of doing business ahead of sporting achievements and spirit are destined to fail. Patronage no longer has the meaning of before but profiteering is negative.”

Carlo is the epitome of class. Milan really has a history of great men

Those pellets go everywhere. I do like how even the surface is and how fast the ball moves, it's fun to play on technically.

The newer fancier AG fields (called 4G) are doing away with them, and they're honestly really great.

How many BS you can read here. Yes Paolo was a great captain but Milan also had players like Gattuso, Savicevic, Balottelli, Ayala, Ibrahimovic Gulit., Desailly who were not the role model when it comes to professional behavior!

I’m talking about Paolo’s team 2019-2023

NDicka for tomori isn’t a bad suggestion

I rather they sell him to provide some funds instead of maignan or theo

I know leao is untouchable this summer

There it is -

so question - do you think Paqueta would be successful at Milan now?
- citing him playing for a poor Brazil NT and a squad in the lowest of European competitions shows how far you always reach to make the case for your perspective
Of course he wouldn’t work here, there is no position for him now just like there wasn’t when he was here. Pioli wanted him to be a 3quartista and thats not his role, he’s clearly a mezzala in Italy, but we don’t play that way. Meanwhile, Pioli keeps shoving SS in that role and wondering why it doesn’t work.

And no, I don’t think wanting more players who start for Brazil at the World Cup is a reach :ibralol:

I would argue that our project in the last few years has started to yield the same sporting results as Inter’s. More or less. Milan and Inter have won a Scudetto each, and both have made a deep run in the CL this year. I don’t really care all that much about the Coppa Italia, so if you consider that Inter have shown a superior domestic tournament pedigree. In the league, we have had the better H2H on them over the last 3 seasons. Just about.

The difference is we have done it with our finances in decent shape and our revenues growing faster than all—as someone posted above.

I think Suning will likely default on their loan, but Inter won’t go bust. That part is wishful thinking. They find themselves in a similar position to where we were with Yonghong Li. However, the difference is their ownership problems started much later, and ours were there from the outset. Their sporting results have been good; ours were bad under Li. This has allowed them a bit of respite in the media.

But the loan and its exorbitant interest remains. I would never want to trade places with them in terms of project.

Now, if they were to fluke a win on Saturday, that would drastically change this evaluation. Fine margins and all that… :)
This is what I’m saying. It’s really easy to sit here currently and whine and moan and be jealous of inter. And yeah we’re Milan fans, we all hate seeing them in the Champions League final. But for some reason people here cannot remember beyond one month. If you look at the last two seasons collectively it’s clear Inter and Milan are neck and neck.

We barely beat them to a scudetto last season, and this season they finished marginally higher in the table and beat us in the semis to reach said final. If that doesn’t show you’re on a more or less equal level, I don’t know what would. We’re not talking about a team that finished 20 or even 10 points higher, or a team that reached a European final while we bowed out in the group stages. Over two seasons our point totals and European experience are just about the same.

Inter fans are way less optimistic than some Milan fans here concerning their future. It’s hard to say they haven’t gotten worse when they obviously have, if anything they were sort of knocked down to Milan’s level in a way.

Inter won’t implode but they will have to cut costs at some point, and they will probably have to get younger too. Sounds similar to us. Which is why I was talking about cycles. I guess the bright side is like you said, we went through our default period already. We got past they and were fortunate to get Elliott who did a great job. If I’m an inter fan, I’d guess the scary part(beyond being a dork ass inter fan) is the uncertainty with the way things will go. They might follow our path, it might go a different way.

Lol I guess you haven't learned how to read between the lines...both the player and his agent have refused to discuss his future recently and he just professed his love for Milan the other day e.g. wife lived here, wedding here, first son born here, loves holidaying here.

Hes at the best team in the world right now and hes captain! There are alot of clubs that want him for free who are much better placed than us including City desperately wanting to renew him.. we will offer max 5mil a year. Those reasons you mentioned are cute but not enough for a professional beast to want to come here.. stop dreaming buddy

Scaroni is the most useless president in the history of sports, has no real authority and his only job is to work on a new stadium. Now he doesn't even do that as he said RedBird has vast experience in stadium building and so they're in charge of the project. Scaroni is basically the mouth piece of ownership and says whatever he's told to say. One day he praises Maldini for the great job he's doing and the next he agrees with Gerry that Paolo has to go and we'll be better off without him.
The other snake is Pioli who in every interview spoke of the unity and cooperation with ownership and management, how Maldini backs him completely while in reality they probably couldn't stand one another. We're now a snake pit where only yes men survive and no dissent is tolerated. One big happy family.
100%. the only sad part is baresi now has to be a politician at age 60. clearly he loves paolo and respects milan's values, having to walk on eggshells in order to continue working there.

Hopefully we will get some money for him we can reinvest
I'm sure there's plenty of idiots out there (particularly in England) who'd be willing to take a punt on this chump for another Paqueta deal i.e. 20m + resale % as both CDK and the Brazilian cost the same.
