We would have spent around 22M on RLC and Arnautovic, as confirmed by Fab and Matt Law.

Diaz probably redeemed too, but to be fair, I'll say maybe not.

Ridiculous use of resources.

And people still wonder why Maldini was fired.

Sell Kalulu to make room for Ndicka is the rumor. [Mediaset]

Haha, I feel bad now because coincidentally, when I was thinking about a possible Ndicka arrival today while cooking lunch, I thought who are they going to sell? Kjaer? No one is going to give us even 1M, they'd probably release him for free first. Gabbia? We need him for the lists, and if not, I don't think he has a huge mercato. Kalulu? He definitely has mercato, maybe we can even bag 30M, and it'd be pure plusvalenza. Ndicka fills a spot (huge, left footed) we can definitely use in defense. Kalulu, with Thiaws emergence, is probably not gonna have much space anymore.

So I concluded for myself that it's probably a classic moneyball move who could be worth it.

And now there's this rumor and I think "haha, I knew I'm on something here"

Kalulu for Ndicka would be amazing.

I'm a bit shocked but I can see why one would think it's a good deal.

Selling Kalulu could mean bagging >30M plusvalenza (Transfermarkt values him 35M).

Ndicka would be free and fill that physical, tall and left-footed CB role we lack.

Turn that plusvalenza directly to... I don't know... a discussion ending offer for Chukwueze and end our dire thirst for a potent RW.

That's pure Moneyball by the playbook.

Longo's response to someone on twitter about chukwueze

Don't go crazy 🤣. He is the favorite profile of the 6/7 names they have lined up for a big shot in the right lane. But it turns out that they are now focused on trying to close the goals to zero, some news should arrive this weekend

Selling Kalulu would be a huge mistake. He is perfect to take over at RB. He is made for that role and will become a rock there if given the opportunity to play ahead of Calabria. As a CB, he is good, but has his limitations. And yes, with the emergence of Thiaw, I think we are more solid back there, especially in terms of height and physicality.

Besides, why do we need to sell Kalulu for Ndicka? Ndicka is free. If anything, sell Fodder-Ballo-Toure and that should make room. In terms of selling to make some money and funding the market, there are far more other players we should sell before even thinking of giving away Kalulu.

According to @Matt_Law_DT Milan had practically closed Loftus-Cheek for 18 million ( figures also reported on @cmdotcom ) but after the dismissal of Maldini and Massara the negotiation was put on stand-by

THANK GOD Maldini got sacked as he would've blown half our transfer budget on an extremely overrated, inconsistent EPL FRAUD

And to think he had the audacity to ask Gerry to 'spend big' when he had this horrible move practically closed (ditto for ArNOUGHTovic) :fp:

I agree with everything. But on the otherside there's no other "dispensible" player in our current roaster who can offer you at least (if not way more) pure plusvalenza. We're speaking about at least 30M. Maybe even 40M if Transfermarkt is to be believed. So... I can see why one would at least explore that route and see if things could play out.

That's exactly how you do it. They're the same age and Kalulu hasn't shown anything spectacular so far.

This. Kalulu showed nothing this past season to indicate he's worth 40m. If someone offers that and we've already got a replacement lined up for free, I'd say do it.

Lol this season we paid Origi, Dest, Rebic, Florenzi, Baka, CDK, Ibra, Vranckx, Tata + Messias a grand total of 35m in gross wages for doing absolutely NOTHING.

Just imagine the kind of talent Moncada could buy with that sort of money :fp:

I wouldn't say "nothing spectacular", he built his 35M valutation somehow after all. But yeah, I guess that kind of player trading, that's how you play Moneyball. Even if it made me sad. I got myself a Kalulu-kit last summer :(

Maldini probably tried to play the same card as last year. Give me unilateral decision making power or I walk. Gerry showed him the door. Maldini probably didn’t expect him to go there, none of us did.

And that’s all there seems to be to it.
They operate a certain way, we see that with Toulouse. They got success with it and bought a bigger club to replicate that model. And there are no position or space for how Maldini want to operate (control of the technical side with full power)… that’s one of the reason he didn’t join the club in the past, I don’t see why he’d accept it now…especially after having it.

All the other reasons, Pioli disagreements, results, budget issues are secondary, maybe even irrelevant.

I agree. Waiting for revenues to catch up will take years. Sell the players that need to be sold as long as their replacements aren't a downgrade.

So about N'Dicka...
The lad has played both 3 ATB and 4 ATB formations with Frankfurt.

Wanna know how many games he's won playing 4 ATB? 2 in the past 2 seasons, just... 2. Out of a total of 14 matches.

So if we're bringing him in, are we switching up to a 3 ATB formation? Or what? :ibralol:
Because if we're playing 3 ATB, we sure as hell ain't selling another CB.

I would sell Kalulu for 30M. If we have to sell, let it be him or Tomori.

Kalulu’s sel makes sense. We should be able to sell players and kalulu is definitely not very much needed now. We will have tomori , thiaw, ndicka as cb’s. Calabria and florenzi as rb. Theo and ndicka as lb. If we don’t sell kalulu then we should sell calabria. When we have holes and don’t have huge money we shouldn’t have 2 quality players in 1 spot. Ndicka free , take 30 m for kalulu and buy proper rw or st.

Kind of off topic…
About Ndicka, seems he is about to represent Ivory Coast as is mother is Ivorian.
Never knew he had any ties to Ivory Coast. as he, logically, has his Cameroonian Father’s name.

Maldini was a great leadership figure to have at the club and was a MAJOR factor behind us winning the Scudetto and achieving multiple CL qualifications (more so than Pioli). However, he's a HORRIBLE money manager who accumulated far too much deadwood during his time so you can't really blame the bill payer for binning him. Unfortunately for us he's got too much of an ego to simply accept an ambassador role at the club like Zanetti at Inter (hopefully Ibra will though).

Anyway, I expect the following players to DEFINITELY depart this summer which will yield 62m to add to the rumoured 50m mercato budget (112m total). I could add a few more names such as Florenzi, Krunic, Salad etc but I'm trying to be realistic although I certainly hope they leave too. To put things in perspective, Moncada managed to buy Kalulu, Maignan, Leao, Tomori, Theo + Benny for roughly the same figure before!

Gabbia 3m fee + 1.5m wages
Rebic 3m fee + 4.6m wages
Origi 5m fee + 5.2m wages
Messias 2m fee + 2m wages
CDK 18m fee (plus resale %) + 2.9m wages
Dest 5m wages
Baka 4.6m wages
Ibra 1.9m wages
Vranckx 1.9m wages
Tata 1.6m wages

TOTAL 62M
