Fucking hell is this what was happening?

I saw Terra, Theo, and Leao on the left and I was so confused

It's remarkable these people are paid millions by the club to analyze and prepare for matches and still can't seem to understand how poorly the team performs with a double pivot this season

The loss to Rennes will be something special. Might even provoke a Vulture post

The fuk we need Buongiorno for? Just sit still until June and build with a new manager. Stop giving Pioli players. We have enough quality to beat scrubs in Italy and that should be more then enough to guarantee top 4. Even with the shit half season and tons of injuries, we are comfortably sitting 3rd. No chance of anything else anyway. So don't waste cash for Pioli.
Maybe Conte request (as also Terracciano can be interpreted)? or simply Tomori is gone?

Isak (injury prone.)
Botman
Bruno G
Anthony Gordon
Trippier (but spends too much time banging prostitutes in hotel rooms.)

I keep hearing that our summer market was great, and yet... here we are. Out of the CL, out of the Coppa Italia, in the EL, and 9 points back of 1st place in Serie A. Maybe our transfers haven't been the problem?
It is very possible that we wouldn't have made EL in our hard CL group and would be struggling a lot more in Serie A without the transfers (and in my opinion Piolis coaching, but that's not the central point here).
Roma now probably have one of the best attacker duos in Serie A in Lukaku-Dybala, and they are 19 points behind Inter. Lazio and Napoli are equally struggling, all these clubs don't have no name coaches (Napoli at least when under Garcia, but even Mazzarri is not a complete noob)
It is just not easy and this year clubs seem to profit even more from not playing international football in the league (Bologna, Juve) than usual. So I mean yeah if you want trophies it is underwhelming, but there is way more room for worse than better and I don't get the doomsday mentality.

Why Tomori have to go. Otherwise you're left with Thiaw still rawish. Gabbia not up to standard to be a starter week in week out. Whoelse Kalulu undersized and doesn't have the athleticism of Tomori. Kjaer? Tomori is the only trustworthy one even with his flaws. And let's keep it reality The Bald Terrorist hasn't helped him or the defence out over the past 12 months.

Yesterday pissed me off.

I don't think Reijnders pushed De Roon enough for a penalty, De Roon was going to collide into Gabbia regardless, Gabbia got there, I don't think Tiji's contact was penalty-worthy, I just don't. Jimenez had good attacking moments, but defensively, he's not ready. He's a kid. He needs time. I also think trying a kid in a new-look 343 with a makeshift CB in Theo next to him was another unforced error, and another makeshift CB in Calabria on the other side, mind you.

Musah had a very poor game. I love the kid, but he did. RWB is not his position and he's just coming back from injury, and RLC as a CM in a two-man CM unit looked bad, especially with RLC not putting in the work defensively that is required of that role.

Then when we started chasing the game... Terracciano, Theo, and Leao all seemed bunched up in the same space. Just a glob of... players, within a defensive block of opposing players, where we pushed another body (Giroud) to be in the box, and our crosses and set-pieces were not dangerous enough. Liverpool just lob crosses in, and most of them are unsuccessful, but they do other things to disrupt defensive blocks, things that Pioli doesn't value: passing and movement.

We conceded a shit goal after scoring a great opener. It's true. But that space where they scored, that space was there the entire game.

Gasperini has changed his approach to playing Pioli. This isn't normal Atalanta, they sat back. We had a lot of possession in the first half, and just dribbled our little hearts out and put all this effort to do... nothing.

Atalanta was fine sitting back and letting us have possession. They picked their spots to attack, and when we pressed them into winning possession back, either high-up or in transition when they attacked... we didn't play the ball crisply enough to punish them.

This isn't new. This is what Juve did to us. This is what Inter did to us. These collapses show up against Napoli, against Lecce, because Pioli isn't adjusting. Opponents are making in-game adjustments and Pioli isn't. He spent the entire summer working on a 433 that we have abandoned.

It really sucks that Krunic isn't a resource anymore, because when he cared and was a good soldier, you could put him in and he'd work his ass off to cover up the space that we keep getting eaten alive in: that top-of-the-box cut back.

Pioli is trying to spread other teams out, but all he's doing is creating this massive gap in our formation, spreading us out length-wise, not just with width, which is suicidal.

We were just finding our feet with a return to our more typical 4231 in the games before this. It was working. The players looked more comfortable. What does he do? He goes 343 and then when chasing the game, we're essentially playing a 244.

-------Giroud
-----------------Jovic
Leao-----------------Pulisic
---Terr---Adli---Musah
---Theo
--------Kjaer----Simic

That was our shape, with Adli dropping deeper to collect the ball. It was a fucking mess.

Did we have bad performances? For sure. Jovic was terrible. Kjaer did not inspire confidence. Musah was shaky. RLC was pouting. But there's no coherence to how we are playing.

We play like a Sunday league team.

Altogether now... It's probably Maldini's fault?

With the exit from the Italian Cup, the Pioli cycle has completely ended: separation increasingly probable at the end of the season with Milan

Out for a walk.
I'd bring Sandro back in a heart beat. He wouldn't solve our midfield problems, but he'd immediately be our best DM, even if he's best as a B2B. I say this, because I'm just assuming we won't bring in a proper DM this January or next summer.

:ibralol: thinking Newcastle are going to do us any favours. They already think we did a bad faith transfer with them. They'll over price him to us and Tonali isn't worth that cost.

No matter how warm and fuzzy he makes you feel

This idea that we should be grateful with 3rd place against Inter and Juve is insane to me. They're not City and Real Madrid. We have beaten far better versions of those teams under Pioli. Before Pioli became enamored with himself.

Serie A is not some faraway trophy in which we are competing against prime Barca, Real, City, Liverpool, and Bayern. It's... Juve with Allegri and Inter with Acerbi and Darmian.

But even if I bought into all the excuses on offer... they don't apply to Atalanta. They have Europe. They feature CDK for God's sake. Losing to Atalanta in the fashion that we did last night, is absurd. The Coppa Italia, a cup I don't care about, do not value, but I thought "hey, winning a trophy would be nice Sam, you're being an idiot." And then Pioli lost. By playing that way.

The penalty calls were absurd, no doubt. You can win games ugly, the idea that playing badly makes bad calls somehow justified, doesn't sit right with me. But look at what Pioli does man.

We shouldn't have been in the EL from our group. We should have been top. Look at Dortmund and Newcastle in their respective leagues.

Everyone is at fault except Pioli though. It's Adli's fault. And Bennacer's fault. And Leao's fault. And Theo's fault.

It's incredible how nothing is Pioli's fault though.

This has been said from day 1: Reijnders his defensive qualities and positioning are absolutely horrendous. There are numerous examples of moments where his opponent infiltrated through our midfield, completely unmarked and Reijnders is nowhere to be found. It happened so often it was just plain obvious, and you would think Pioli notices this shit, but the bald fuck has no clue what he's doing. I wonder what it's like to be in his brain for one game on the sidelines.
Yeah he should be a free role player, he works hard and moves very well and unselfish player. I hope improves his shooting. Unlike RLC he tries to put in work in defensive half.

Between Tomori, Thiaw and Kalulu if i am forced to sell one i'd sell Thiaw. Kalulu and Tomori are fast and we need that speed, they have good feet too
