After the Inter game, I think we should try Thiaw out as a DM. He's played there in his career, I believe. Worth a shot.

Verratti will be entering the final year of his contract - if they want Bennacer - they can offer him in exchange + money.
I did hate the idea of Jorginho last summer but he's apparently been massive for Arsenal. I'm sure they'll renew him but if they don't, we should jump on him.

If you judge someone for eating ice cream I hope you better not eat ice cream, much less in public 😂
Im not a soft bitch, eating an ice cream doesn’t accentuate my softness

Stefano Pioli is/was the same coach, limited with some understanding of triangle from phil jackson and pressing. I wasn't the one claiming he is sacchi and then turn into vicious haters as soon as he put some french africans on bench for kurnic

We will get a smarter coach who understand forum tactics really well

D-9VPUIXYAEfWf_-1.jpeg
You know the team's play in the Sassuolo match wasn't any different than the win streak right? Sass were just lucky enough to finish the chances Pioli constantly concedes to inferior teams

I just want a coach who understands it isn't acceptable to leak 3 goals to a genuine relegation team

I don't think that's a crazy demand

"I thought it was the best choice to not leave the dribble to Sassuolo"

I'm still dazed after reading that. What does it mean?
Prob wanted to shrink the filed for Sass I assume which is one of the benefits of a high line

But when you see that pioli doesn't want one, it's puts things in a very different perspective... Has this been the case for a while?

If so that's bonkers. If not, then it's weird that we've trusted some much time and money in a guy that hasn't progressed or developed our style and play, and hadn't produced any results ultimately.

This isn't bashing Pioli, more pointing out that folk go on about not replacing Kessie and Hakan, and blaming a certain guy... When no management team has replaced these guys. Is it because they've not been asked for by the manager?

It's casts shade in a very different direction...
But there is also another way to look at this - players were identified, they were just deemed to expensive (we settled on Vranckx on loan) - that was before Pioli was given this ability to pick whomever he wanted.
So Pioli said 'well if you arent bringing anyone then I can roll with Krunic' - that was also deemed too expensive.

You all bet on Bennacer and that was the wrong horse ever since he first arrived.
Enough blame to go around from Maldini to Furlani to Moncada to Pioli

Put yourself in an investor’s shoe, you are in this to make money and couldn’t give a fuck less that some randos on a forum declared that “we are ready to take the next step”.

If you are already making decent money and on track to do things that will FOR SURE increase the clubs value (stadium), why the fuck would you want to overextend yourself for marginal returns just to show randos “you want to win something”.

Not like when you got the club it was doing a lot of winning
Prize money and player trading are a big chunk of revenue in the sport, to fully benefit from such things you need to win

Inter had one dominant season under Conte and the player values increased 2-3x these were seasoned players with a career behind them, not children

Missing out on the CL KO stage money and the CWC money is a big deal from a financial pov

Also, it's not like Pioli is making pennies. He makes a sizeable salary for a coach, they're already investing quite a bit in him

Mike and Thiaw are well, available for Roma. Kjaer minor injury will miss a week or two

Kessie is technically a box to box player though

He never played as a sole DM

We badly need a natural 6
Had a quick look at DM's and most the talented ones aren't really ones who happen to be great defensively either.
A real lack of players whose main ability lie in being strong defensively.
I'm still hoping Forest get relegated and we go back in for Nicolas Dominguez.
Apart from him, I think Parejo and Guido Rodriguez are good options on free too.

They have Hojbjerg down as a DM - Is that true? If so, he's entering his final year and is desperate to leave.
Joan Gonzalez at Lecce looked a perfect option last year - weirdly hasn't been involved so much this season. 22 yo.
Romeu looked great at Barca at the start of the season. Danilo Pereira is another experienced DM.

But I suspect they'll go for a young guy like Lucas Gourna-Douath. 20 yo

Gabbia-Tomori would be the best duo to start against Roma.

Plenty of financially healthy teams do not get prize money year after year. In contrast, a team like Sevilla thats gotten the prize money for EL many times in recent years is still in financial troubles.

If its my money and the team's already doing okay and I can choose to "go big now" vs. just investing around the same amount and wait for other factors to increase the team's value (stadium), I'd pick top 4 and see too. People keep using "missing out" on CL KO money and CWC money as if we had that money all along and was taken away .

Regarding Pioli: if we want to "take the next step", one would assume it would be quite sizeable salary for the "step up" as well considering Pioli is already making this much. So with Pioli extended thanks to Daniel Maldini Sr., the best bang for the buck here is to let him play out his contract so we don't pay 2 guys on the off chance that the second guy will be a massive improvement on the same level of funding and same limitations when it comes to transfer strategies.

EL trophy is still a long shot, 2nd leg QF , in best case 4 games to lift it

There should be different approach to the remaining games in Serie A ( except vs Inter cause it's the derby), although there are no excuses of not reaching 2nd place with the remaining teams we have to play

So IMO if Pioli can't find the balance of preparing the serie A and EL matches by successfully reach 2nd place and WIN the freakin EL, just please go by yourself and admit you failed

Nobody will do this and leave money on the table.

Maybe Gattuso, but that’s it

He already failed.
Losing against Inter in the start with 5-1.
Losing at home against Udinese.
Losing home Juventus
Cant score against Dortmund and Newcastle
Draw against Lecce and Salernitana
Monza lose
We probably win 0 prices this season.

Maybe its not all on him, but he’s responsible for the team

because EL doesn't pay

Gerry has said repeatedly he doesn't believe in spending more but spending "better" so that'll never change. To his credit, some clubs spend "better" and participate in prize money and it's not like any Italian team has any other choice but to spend "better". With Serie A broadcasting money being so shit and somehow still declining, the club has no choice but to rely on stuff like player trading to prize money to stay competitive. A yearly top 4 finish isn't enough

Italian clubs need to punch above their weight and Pioli simply is not capable of doing that despite what many believe

Pioli's remaining salary isn't a big deal, a club like Napoli or Fiorentina will gladly take him in and meet his demands
