marco rose is similar to pioli in terms of play/approach

focus on (high) pressing and winning the ball back asap

Honestly, I'd be okay with him, Chelsea is a shitshow and he was highly rated prior

I think the wording Longo used was "abroad" so it could mean De Zerbi I guess. Someone like him or Potter would make sense if they want to emphasize the youth academy
RDZ back on :b:

As far as Calabria is concerned, there is a common desire to renew the contract expiring in 2025, but not the economic agreement. Because Calabria currently earns 2 million euros a year, it would like double that - Longo

Alonso actually was a coach of Real Madrid U14 and after of Real Sociedad B team in Segunda Division B . He never was coaching a " professional " football team before Leverkusen . Not even a team from the highest league level . So , although there are some similarities with Pioli , the differences are more .

For Calabria delivers 2M is very good for him
I've seen no improvement during past years so a 4M is without a doubt a big NO
Main leverage he has is homegrown quota. We are thin in that area

I like RDZ, but he is a kamikaze coach and we won’t have the players for it.

Pulisic switches to his preferred LW spot if Leao is ever missing and Chuk goes RW.
But what if we have a situation where Pulisic is needed on the right? Or what if Chuk is hurt? Or Pulisic?

We need a LW. Okafor looks terrible on that side. All his tools and instincts are that of a striker.

I think we need a LW.

We'll see. Alonso has blitz started his coaching career in a frighting way. How will he build on that tho? Was this year with Leverkusen only a freak season build on an incredible momentum or is this is just the beginning of something much bigger?

I mean Football is unpredictable. What today seems a certainty next year could look entirely different. Ranieri once won the best league in the world with a newly promoted team that meanwhile is relegated again. you never know what's next. That's the beauty of this sport.

Also, seems to be the round of the draws. Juve, Bologna, Milan, Inter and Fiorentina all drew. Roma and Udinese was a draw when interrupted and Atalanta right now is drawing too.

Freak weekend

Out for a walk.
On his day, which is like 8 times a year, Calabria plays out of his mind. The rest of the time, when he is playing, he's mediocre to bad. He's simply too meh most of the time, as well as injury-prone, to justify a massive wage increase. I like him. He's a good captain. But he's a hole in our squad sometimes and if being loyal to him is keeping us from bringing in a better player...chop and cut, please.

Can’t imagine the market for Calabria being too great, even on his current wages. (Sorry Smurf)

Correct - but I can see him getting around three and staying as rotation - Both Florenzi and Bennacer make more while offering what?

If they can find another player (Terraciano emerges or they find someone cheap) then Calabria will be squad player .... unless Galliani takes pity on him and us

"Our job is to give the coach the most competitive team possible, Milan always starts to win. Champions League is a regret, we were unlucky against Newcastle, while against Dortmund there were many injuries"

about mercato

“The philosophy is to improve the team. last year we made a lot of changes because it was necessary to change the team a bit, this year it will be a more targeted job because the foundations are there. it is not right to say that we only aim for young people or a specific type. the work we do as other companies do, is to look at various criteria. when we analyze potential purchases, we start from scouting which is obviously very important, there is the much-talked-about data that helps us in the choice - an important ingredient even if it does not provide the solution in itself -, we look at the medical history and the personality of the player, in addition obviously to the financial theme. these are all elements for choosing a player, even if there aren't necessarily characteristics at the start that tell you only about this or that type."

On financial growth

"We are around 400 million or so. How much can it grow? A complicated question. It certainly depends on the activity we do and therefore on the work we do with our partners (Puma, MSC, Emirates...), it partly depends on the UEFA competitions (how far we go ) and from the work we do with Serie A (not only as Milan but together with the other 19 clubs) to increase the turnover of Serie A especially at the media level. And then there is the stadium part which is very important: today as a stadium we have San Siro and we focus on this to make it a better experience for our fans tomorrow, who knows."

On San Siro and a new stadium:

"I had a season ticket with my dad. San Siro is a special place and even football fans around the world tell you that San Siro is in the top 5 stadiums in the world. The stadium is an engine for creating resources that are reinvested in football and today San Siro is a dated product."

On Giroud

"He made the history of Milan and is still performing at high levels. We were not shy last year on the transfer market and we won't be shy in the one that arrives where needed. The boys who arrived in the summer did well and are happy to stay here."

Do the fans have the right to dream of a great new player?

"We shouldn't make shots just for the sake of making them and put the company's continuity in difficulty. We must continue to improve the team to win. We must not make shots that make a scene, but that are useful."

Will you buy Zirkzee?

"There are no negotiations but even if there were I wouldn't tell you"

On Ibrahimovic and Gerry Cardinale:

"A lot has been said about Zlatan. The leadership and final decisions belong to RedBird and Gerry Cardinale. There is a working group under him. Zlatan is already showing that he is also a great champion off the pitch. He contributes on various fronts. On the sporting side it is made up of Zlatan, Gef Moncada and I. Then there are other areas of work such as that of the stadium where Scaroni is very involved ".

On Thursday's match against Roma

"We can play better than we did against Roma, I'm sure that on Thursday our champions will show what they're made of"

On the idols Savicevic and Weah

"Among the "less obvious" champions, for many AC Milan fans, they are wonderful players. I always remember Dejan's goal against Barcelona, while Weah had devastating power."

On Leao

"He's an extraordinary player and you don't stop him when he wants to. He's a very good boy, always smiling and it's nice to be in a group with him."

On the derby

"We'll play it hard. We know how this Serie A will end and I think it's not that important."

On the investigation

"There is this idea that RedBird is not the owner of Milan and it is something wrong. The facts are simple. The authorities have the right to do whatever investigations they want, but we have nothing to hide and we are ready to cooperate with them to make them do their job as best as possible."

On Pioli:

"There's this constant being in the spotlight. Since the beginning of the season, criticism of the coach has flared up after every match he doesn't win. This year he's done well and we're focused on the end of the season. He's an exquisite person, with who works very well and I can say that we are lucky to work with him. You can't judge a coach on one match, but you can evaluate it on an entire season. We'll see how the season ends, but we're confident."

If you had an unlimited budget who would you buy?

“Ask Zlatan and Moncada, I'm the the budget guy”

Can a major transfer be avoided in the next transfer market?

“We don't need to make sales to recover from losses. Being a profitable company, we have the opportunity to invest from the start. Leao, Maignan and Theo Hernandez are happy to stay at Milan and have long contracts."

So Zlatan will have a say in transfer window.
It will be an interesting summer, new coach, 2-3 players. Lets see what he and Moncada will do this time.

hopefully not another Roback
