I don't understand this sudden love for Loftus Cheek who's had 2 awful seasons and one decent one at Milan. Not only has he been bad but among the worst in the squad. Never seen a player as big as him be such a pussy on the pitch, get dispossed as often as he does, if you sneeze falls to the ground.

Ricci is not here to replace Deers but as one of the DM candidates which might or might not work, RLC has that duty, according to many predicted starting 11, a colossal downgrade. And I'm tired of hearing of his performance against PSG, so he had one really good match in 3 years, who cares? Also terrible defensively and kind of lazy on the pitch.

I don't post in game threads because find it distracting but read them the next day, and only if we win, and among the most criticized are Chuck, Musah, RLC, Theo, Royal. These are among the players that I want gone because they do more damage than good but now all of the sudden Ruben is our saviour.
I was hoping he would be shipped off this summer. Too injury prone

Ricci is not a purely defensive midfielder either. I don't understand where this image of him is coming from. He's a good press resistant midfielder that can help you systematically move the ball out of your buildup under pressure. Same as Xhaka. They're both well rounded that they can do that and offer a lot of coverage and keep the ball moving cleanly when in possession. This is exactly what Bennacer does too.

I don't think Modric at almost 40 years old, will have the engine to do all that. I honestly don't even think Modric will start the majority of games for us. He's here to be a leader and play anywhere between 60 to 30 minutes each week. We can't build our midfield around him, that's insane.

Modrics age and attributes tell me that Allegri would play him as a regista. If it’s a late game sub then I can picture him at Mezzala, but idk if he has the legs to do that from the start.

With Ricci, I simply dont think he can dictate play. For italy he plays centrally but my possibly outdated understanding of Allegri ball is that he wants a playmaker in that position. Ricci seems a little slow with the ball.

If Xhaka came I think he would start there.

I think its either Guerra or Jashari. Either of them to rotate with RLC.
- Guerra is cheaper but more complicated. Valencia is getting a new CEO and they want to renew the player. Apparently could be unlocked jn July.
- Jashari, Brugge wants 35-40M which we could use for two players. Probably the better player from the two currently, but arguably not worth the price.

Ricci imo is the Fofana sub. And its probably why we supposedly tried to add Bondo to the deal. Like for like trade positionally.

Logically Xhaka and Modric should both play in the center but at their age and level I doubt either one of them would like to be second option. If we had Champions league games it would make more sense. I would like both of them to join.

I don't think we need a Reijnders replacement per se. And I've yet to see a name like him being linked. Maybe a Nico Paz would be similar. A midfielder that we can't expect any defensive contribution..
Reijnders was never used correctly, he should've been the number 10. Or at least the most attacking of the 3 midfielders. Instead he was often in a 2 next to Fofana.

From what I see Guerra is more like RLC.
Jashari is similar to Tonali or in our squad Fofana.

If by some miracle we start the season with these 5 - Jashari, Xhaka, Modric, Fofana, Ricci - We'd be laughing. All are interchangable. And Adli being kept as the 6th midfielder - would be insane.
Even though Jashari and Fofana are fairly similar, they'd give incredible protection to Modric - If we decided to play him as the DM as the deep lying playmaker.
If we went with Xhaka instead of Modric - that's a lot of energy in the park!

I want Jashari so badly, I'd rather he come than if we signed 2 midfielders in Xhaka and Guerra.

Why are most people thinking Modric in the center? I really don't see that happening. It's either Xhaka or Ricci there, not Modric.
Surely makes more sense him there. To sit back and spring passes like a Pirlo/scholes. The other two in the midfield are the engines going up and down

I hope we sign this Leoni kid ..

Some premium on price is warranted as he's Italian and all big teams need enough of them for squad lists and that especially considering the low level of Italian talent out there.

We also need to move towards having a a bit of an Italian core that can stay here for a long time

Whatever Allegri did with Pirlo he did because it was Pirlo. I think he will want a much more robust and safe option at anchor, and the words from Tare seem to imply that's where we're heading. Xhaka and Ricci fit that profile. Modric to me is a luxury we will use whenever we need to and is mostly here to be the leader and instill a winning mentality. He's not going to be a key player in the team, week in week out.

@PietroMazzara: For Jashari, Milan is preparing a new offer after their initial bid of €27M plus €3M in bonuses was rejected. The expectation is that Milan will go up to €30M plus €3–5M in bonuses, which may convince Brugge to sell. The Belgian club is already looking for a replacement.

You're wrong I think

Tare said Allegri wants players who can keep possession and Modric joined to win the Scudetto. As of now he's probably the only midfielder on this team who can do that

He'll only play once a week as well. I'd pencil him in as a starter

The more I reflect about it, the more I can rationalize RLC being Allegri's attacking wildcard from midfield, ala Prince-Boateng.

Please stay fit this season RLC, otherwise we'll never know - and we'll write you off as a flop, despite most of us being actuely aware of the talent you've got.

We are hyping him up to increase his value before he is sold (I hope)
No way in the world that Allegri saw RLC for a full year on DAZN and Tare saw him in training and said "yeah, that's my ball carrying midfielder"

The whole RLC backing is just so teams won't lowball us, while I'm pretty Tare is enquiring about shipping him off to interested suiters

A tall midfield who can't protect the ball, weak and gets dispossessed, with almost no end product, and no vision for passing

Guy is an EPL Musah, another in the string of Chelsea rejects we seem to accumulate.

He’s always had the talent and consistently managed to be injured.

Idk if it’s bad habits in life or what but they need to figure out every detail of what could be causing them and set him up for availability this season.

I know it’s been a while but that PSG game performance mama miaaaaa

Not just Pirlo, same with Pjanic and Locatelli. Ricci is not imposing on the ball.

And I believe Tare said that we’re going to play a three man midfield with a deep lying playmaker, almost certainly ruling out Ricci in the middle.

allegri won the league with this

maybe modric can be the seedorf type
fofana the gattuso
xhaka the van bommel

the major difference is

no killer striker like ibra
no nesta and t silly

pulisic can maybe play as a cam who drifts wide
or plays like a robinho

no prince type player

but for the central mod
it feels we have what allergi can work with
You understand this screenshot you attached looks leagues better than what we have on the pitch, yes?
