I don't mind the speed of the market. I personally wanted quality over quantity. 2-3 top players (starters) + 1 or 2 solid players (rotation level, at least). So there is still time to add another 2-3 players, which would be ok.
1l We needed a CF and a CB. We added real quality in both positions.
2) We need a left footed AM, to satisfy the coach's needs in this new formation. This is the big one for me, and I hope we add some real quality there too.
3) WBs. Not sure that'll happen here. It's important that we get at least 1, on the left.

So if we can get a left footed AM + a LWB, especially if both are of real quality and walk into the lineup...then this will be a great summer for us. Summer of quality and not quantity. Because there is plenty of quantity and plenty of rotation/backup level players in this squad.

I was really hoping for a CM alongside Rabiot. But it doesn't look like that is even on the list. Maybe Jashari will finally step up. Also, maybe that also gives Comotto some space too. We'll see.

Grimaldo was available for 20mil, and we refused a 15mil offer for Estupinan due to Amorim wanting to evaluate him. Only for Estupinan to repay this faith by an absolute stinker. Man, this hurts...

Loftus-Cheek (7.5 – MOTM): Wonderful performance from the Englishman, it has to be said. He should have had an assist, doing everything right to set up Musah, and he created more chances on his own. Smart passing and movement were two more things he showcased as well.

I've never seen anything other than an average player. He isn't efficient, effective, assertive, clever, creative, athletic... Anything that warrants 4+ million a year and the amount of minutes he's racked up.

Even as a back up I'd rather give a youngster more minutes.

Maybe his stats are good, but the eye test... Fuck he's an actual idiot!!!

Runs into holes rather than space, makes poor decisions when it's time to release the ball, gets manhandled way to easily, and is a ghost for large parts of games.

Why he's still here is beyond me... I can only think Milan don't want to cut their losses and take a low offer, because "accounting scudetto"?

Generally speaking I agree with you, don't like RLC, and would like to move on from him. But I think today he was really good. RLC had his best match in ages.

Don't disagree with your broader point, but do want to make this comment-

Verdi in a lot of ways is a perfectly example of how Italian football in general and Milan specifically have screwed up player development.

Verdi showed serious flashes in preseason, but never got a real run of play with the senior team. Then co-ownership, loans, etc. Years later, played very well at Bologna and earned a 25 million Euro move, after which he fizzled.

To me, this is the exact time of players that losses out in Italy vs elsewhere- while there are late bloomers, the biggest difference between top players and average ones is getting minutes at a young age and really being pushed when they're like 17-21. A player like Verdi that eventually got to the point where he was good enough to score 10 goals and earn a 25 million move indicates that he legit had talent, and is the profile of a player that if he got thrown into the fire when he was showing major flashes could have taken a next step that he never did.

Sure, it’s not a magic bullet, and he might not have made it to the next level even with that chance, but giving talents like that the opportunity is how high end players are created.

It is impossible to assess players who are not tested, do not get playing time or are only given occasional cameos at a younger age.

Without real game time between 17-21 it makes it very difficult for them to develop their game or gain valuable experience.

Loans can be useful but the loans also need to be strategically placed. A loan with a team where a players best attributes can thrive and develop is best. It also offers an opportunity for them to build on the weaker aspects of their game.

Sending Camarda to Lecce was a poor choice he gained nothing from the experience.
