I don´t think Tomori wants to leave as a free agent, he just doesn´t want to leave period. Which would be fine with me as long as he accepts being a rotational player. His fee is basically paid off and he should be on the growth degree. I´d offer him an extension of 4m pa for 3 years. For that money he is good value.
Squad construction, this guy gets it...
We have so SO many players that aren't a big concern, it's the lack of options Infront or around them that's the big issue.
Tomori as a rotational player is not a concern. If he's a name that's first on the starting team list, that's the concern.
I'd rather loan out a few players, sign a stick on starter, and keep Tomori... Unless a £12-15 million offer comes in and he wants to go.
A big factor is how we regard De Winter? Similarly Athakame? Are these guys seen as future starters? If so, is being a back up a better option than say going on loan and starting 30/40 games a season with a midtable team?
Right now, we need wingbacks or wide midfielders that can attack and defend... That's our priority. Then potentially getting another guy behind the striker.
Central defence we can argue all day, but let's be honest, we have bodies, for large parts of last season were 2nd, the issues were opening teams up and scoring.
So simple maths, score more goals than last year, by say +15, and we're higher up the table.
Gila is a big addition, anything else is fucking gravy!!!
