What does he do after that though?

I thought some of his passing last season was very good and not capitalised on but his finishing remains inadequate and too many times he just flopped and acted the fool so wasn't as effective as he should be after this phase.

He has to stay close to a good decision making player like Rabiot and asked to pass to him no matter what.

I don´t think Tomori wants to leave as a free agent, he just doesn´t want to leave period. Which would be fine with me as long as he accepts being a rotational player. His fee is basically paid off and he should be on the growth degree. I´d offer him an extension of 4m pa for 3 years. For that money he is good value.
Squad construction, this guy gets it...

We have so SO many players that aren't a big concern, it's the lack of options Infront or around them that's the big issue.

Tomori as a rotational player is not a concern. If he's a name that's first on the starting team list, that's the concern.

I'd rather loan out a few players, sign a stick on starter, and keep Tomori... Unless a £12-15 million offer comes in and he wants to go.

A big factor is how we regard De Winter? Similarly Athakame? Are these guys seen as future starters? If so, is being a back up a better option than say going on loan and starting 30/40 games a season with a midtable team?

Right now, we need wingbacks or wide midfielders that can attack and defend... That's our priority. Then potentially getting another guy behind the striker.

Central defence we can argue all day, but let's be honest, we have bodies, for large parts of last season were 2nd, the issues were opening teams up and scoring.

So simple maths, score more goals than last year, by say +15, and we're higher up the table.

Gila is a big addition, anything else is fucking gravy!!!

People forget that CBs sometimes only develop and come good in their early 30s. A lot of these guys like tomori, never mind Pavlovic, have a ton of career left ahead of them, and with that comes maturity. Tomori as a committed player and rotational piece is just fine.

Athekame should definitely stay and get minutes. He was kind of a stand out from our shit season and I was pleasantly surprised. He has great physical attributes and will only get better technically with more experience.

While I absolutely agree he showed promise, I'd counter with, where does he fit in with Amorim's system... And would he benefit from 30+ games on loan as a starter option with a midtable team?

It's yet to be seen if the kid can work in Amorim's system? A year riding the bench isn't in anyone's best interests.

There's definitely a player there though.

Yes, in a player vs player comparison it might be a downgrade. But what’s relevant is if the teams chance creation decreases or increases.
A ”lesser” player that can integrate into the system might mean the teams offense improves, and frankly, this wouldn’t surprise me at all.

Leao is a player that’s hard to read which makes it hard to defend him, but it also makes it hard for his teammates to adjust.
It’s why Spain beat France in the World Cup. France had more star-players, but Spain was more committed to their tactics and structure.
I agree with you somewhat but in an ideal world you need both

A team too heavily relying on a system has limitations and at a certain point you need individual players with different qualities to swing the balance

This management sucks at adding talent and despite his very obvious flaws, I worry at their ability to add a talent like Leao again after his departure

You’ll get top 4 with a strong system but you won’t win a title without individuals who can step up and win on their own

Dont want this headless chicken in our shirt again. Sick of his brainfarts

I always get scared when he is trying to build up play ... Not even talking bout his defending
Pavlovic scares me more following his display against Celtic... If we're talking brainfarts.

Pavlovic really just seems like a bad fit, he also suffers because he gets not opportunity to carry the ball. But more importantly he is valued at 40m if we believe reports from the end of last season. Binding 40m for a meh fit ...

Just get Osorio man. He can also play wingback. Try to loan Brahim Diaz or Endrick, and get an extra defender aswell.
Its just another 50m to spend, and the team will look much better.

He could have been. In the right club, under the right manager.

Please let it be true 🙏
Have to find buyers and players need to agree the move - if we cant get anyone in then Estupinan and Tomori may still see a decent amount of play time, RLC may too  because the players ahead of him are injury prone.

He's definitely useful for that, and a prese nice for corners at either end.... But he's a goon, lovable, but no less a goon.

He'll always be as likely to storm up the field and create something, or pass across his goal and give away a chance to the opposition.

He's so Milan actually, fucking painful to watch at times, but we love it all the same.

We have way too many midfielders. Jashari - Rabiot - Modric - Ricci - Rlc - Fofana - Musah - Comotto lol. Atleast 2-3 of them needs to leave asap. August 7, and still didnt sell anyone yet, thats crazy.

That's because you only read the forum using your Maldo-tinted glasses

I have repeatedly shat on this squad and said i dislike everyone bar Modric, Rabiot, and Pavlo to an extent. This is a clueless management for 3 seasons now and I have 0 faith in them. The difference is, I'm not spamming it in every post as a forum personality, but try to be objective.

What I will give this management, is that none, none of the players who management wanted out, blocked the move.
What are we on now, 4/4? With Tomori rejecting Juve, Theo Saudi before he joined, Leao the Turks and Adli/Bennacer needing to be convinced they're only suited to Shawarma league.

You don't want Leao, Tomori gone? What is their current value to the team? But I guess as someone who still wants Theo back (helium-brained and all), there's no point going there.
If Redbird's purchases will cause disruption in the market, I'll happy criticize the players they bought.

Furry is gone BTW, and no one has mentioned him. I know letting go of the past is difficult for you, but It's time.
