In our current state, a great pre season would have helped everyone. But that being said it's still a rotation fest without a match fit XI.

It may very well go terrible once the season starts, but that will be the answer, not these pre season training games.

I think Camarda's development will be burdened by expectations for goals, and I think that is true for young strikers in general.

Young midfielders, defenders, and even wingers, aren't judged by goalscoring in their early careers as much.

Camarda was never reliant on his pace and even at youth levels, he didn't have speed advantages. He plays more like a veteran, that is a big part of his talent set--yes playing in his age bracket he shows great skill etc, but at 18, he still has room to grow physically and it shows in games where we are pinned back especially. He's not some athletic freak like Ibra or MVB, he's more like Kane in terms of player profile. Kane was never fast or pacey, nor was he some technical dribbler, but he's a very smart player who drops deep and distributes brilliantly. Of course, he's a great finisher, too.

Whether Camarda, Comotto, Cisse, or Bart etc become stars, who knows? But our season won't be defined by their sudden emergence, if it happens.

I don't think we have seen Amorim's full team. Mike, Rabiot, Gila, Pulisic all have yet to play (Gila for like 20 min) but even with all of them our major issue is that we do not have wingbacks.

Bart does well to cover the left defensively but he's not a wingback. Pervis isn't a wingback. Chuk is not a wingback. Alexis had a horrific game but we can't have just one wingback in this team. Even if we play an asymmetrical 3421 where one side is more defensive, we need wingbacks and no one has shown promise there.

Even if I'm giving Amorim the most generous take, we don't look cut out for his system. He's sacrificing a midfielder for a CB and the wingbacks are not stretching our opponents out to give the midfield room to attack and teams have been playing narrow in midfield (overloading our center) and exploiting gaps behind our wingbacks but in front of the side CBs to create havoc.

I'm going to wait, I'm going to hope that things click when we have our full team, maybe some late additions at wingback really change the execution, I'm really hoping for this. But so far? It looks like we lack crucial player characteristics to play a system that depends on wingbacks for the second season in a row.

Amorim to Sky: “Against Torino we will be having a strong squad. I don’t know what will happen in the transfer market but certainly I am not going to ask for new signings after a defeat. I am very satisfied with the players I have, we just need to improve.

I asked for two players [Ramos and Gila] and the club made everything to sign them in tight timelines. We have really good players, including the young players, and we will be ready for the season opener.”

Now I'm curious.
The last time this happened was the Giampaolo pre-season.
Anyone remember what that guy said after pre-season defeats?

Insult Gerry as muvh as you wat, he deserves it. But please stop referring to the team we love as Bilan (or any variant like Beeelan). It is deeply insulting to all Milan fans and brings you at the same level as merda fans.

I dont care about friendly matches, doesnt mean a shit. But how the fuck Amorim plans to play his formation without crucial players for that tactic.

No real No 10's, no real wingbacks, no good CB's

THE SEASON
“You can start well or badly, anything can happen in a season. Judgements must be made on what you show. We rely on results, I’m focused on the work and that’s the only thing that can turn us around along with the quality of the players. Being at Milan, I have valuable players. We’ll offer positive criticism. When you’re addicted to your job and working 18 hours a day, you shouldn’t ’t be afraid of anything.
18 hours a day? Addicted to your job? Isn't this the same guy who went AWOL at his previous club and no one knew where he was?

However, on matchday 7, he already buried Elliot's transfer window

I expect nothing less from dear Ruben

Good analyse, this why Amorim Sucks, he doesn't have appropriate Wingers and seven Playmaker to impose his style, instead he should relies more on MC by deploying 3 in the middle like that we won't get overwhelmed.

Concerning the youngsters, the managers will be fooled once again to give their playing time to players such Musah-Gimenez-Estu-RLC-Nkunku, even if we won't qualify for UCL at least we had been able to develop them, instead of stubbornesly trusting calciatori unable to have any impact despite their experience.

I only watched the first 40 mins, so it looks like I missed the goals. But I'm not surprised they came. The first 40 mins were somewhat even actually. But we struggled to get the ball out of our half and struggled to have meaningful possession. I remember seeing the possession stats at one point being 52/48 Chelsea, but it felt like the game was played on our half. It was probably because Chelsea's possession was mostly in our half....and then, our possession was mostly in our own third. Reminded me a bit of Montella's Milan. Passing for the sake of passing, without much of a purpose or a plan to go vertical and exploit spaces. Still, apart from one chance, I don't remember Chelsea being dangerous either.

Outside of Rabiot, we don't have a midfielder that can run in a duo. It's demanding....physically, tactically and technically. Modric is 41 ffs. If we want the best out of him, we need to play him as the base in a mid 3, or use him in the final 20 mins in a mid 2. The rest are a lost cause and need to go (apqrt from Comotto and Jashari, who we need to mould and develop). But we are in serious need of a strong CM (to play alongside Rabiot) and a left footed AM to play alongside Pulisic/Nkunku. Imo, these 2 positions are more important than a WB currently.

too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
It’s pre season so it is purely about experimentation and rotation. It is better not to read too much into the results.

The disappointing part is that there are so many issues with the squad. There were key changes required that haven’t, certain players should not be here and Amorim seems ok with this.

I would say level expectations and hope for a positive season. Let’s hope Ramos finds the net Gila’s injury is not a bad one and both have a significant impact.

Agreed with most of this. I will add though, that the reason our current WBs aren't stretching our opponents is because we don't have the ball for long enough in dangerous areas. What i mean is....we were nit string enough centrally to have the ball in the opponent's half, to actually allow our wide players to go and press up on their fullbacks. Instead, they are 90% in defensive mode. And as a WB, when you get up a few times and attempt to stretch their back line, yet 1) the ball is not progressed, and 2) it's lost just as it enters the opponent's half....you are left exposed and forced to sprint back. Mentally, it's an exhausting feeling and after a couple times, you start doubting whether you should be making that vertical movement frequently.

Agreed that better WBs will help. But I think better quality theough the middle of the pitch will make even the current WBs serviceable (or at least, MUCH better than what we've seen so far)

What’s our best position?

Center defense? Gk? Goal keeper? Wingers? Strikers?

Yeah it’s Rabiot when he feels like it but he will be Napoli when season starts

I disagree. If they had a great preseason they would’ve said the roster is fine as it is. Better to see the weaknesses now and move on from players that don’t fit.
