But if we look at the worst, underachiving players in Milan last year - Oddo, Janko, Kalazde, Favalli, Dida, Rino, Hunter will be the favourites. Pirlo is borderline in this list and is much much more closer to this list that the list mentioned above.

If Dida underarchieved last season, then pretty much everyone did.

Why do people bash Favalli?! Favalli definitely wasn't one of our bad players last season. Actually I don't ever remember a game when he didn't give his best, yet people always bash him, grazie Beppe.

Huntelaar gave us much more then Pirlo. Played very few minutes, and not regularly, and mostly played out of position. Yet he still scored couple of good goals and saved our ass.

Kaladze didn't even fucking play! I wonder if people actually watch our games.

Pirlo only plays because we have no good passers in midfield except him and Seedorf. But he has been so shit for a long time now, and is a HUGE liability defensively. Even his free kicks have become crap, and apart from the good long shot every now and then, he offers nothing good. Sorry, but let's be realistic, time to leave emotions away and move on.

This is really false. Huntelaar was close to useless this season, while Pirlo has been a vital player to us, yes still. Obviously weaker as in the past, but still vital.

Of course, Huntelaar gave us some goals, but Pirlo did more.

Dida performed much better than Pirlo in the last two seasons.
Idiots praise Pirlo & bash Dida when the latter performed better.
And they dont mind Pippo getting another contract while they are happy Dida is gone even with Dida performing better + he is younger.
******ed hypocrisy.
Pirlo is so fucking important that each year you can easily name 5 Milan players who performed better , each season since long time now.
but hey , its ok , Wc is coming & Pirlo playing good should mean the world for us Milan fans coz its relevant.

And no fiero , Hunt didnt give us more than Pirlo but that doesnt say much about his status.
Not shit , decent is what Pirlo is for Milan.

Useless? mmm... new team, new country, given few minutes every couple of games, played out of position, and yet still managed to score some goals and be helpful to the team.

Pirlo: Apart from the goal against Real Merda, what did he offer? Please watch the Milan vs Man Utd 4-0 game again, pwnage of the decade... Park against Pirlo.

It looks like you only think in goals. Huntelaar's goals was all he could add, and oh my, he is a striker. But when Huntelaar played, we play worse, and without Pirlo we play worse also.

What do you want Huntelaar to do? Defend?! His job is to attack and score...

Pirlo on the other hand. Doesn't participate in the build up play, doesn't score, doesn't assist, doesn't tackle, doesn't defend. What the fuck does he do?! Oh yes, orchestrate. :o

Huntelaar couldn't play along like Borriello did, with Borriello our attack/team played way better than with Huntelaar. Also our team plays better with Pirlo than without. People care too much about individual statistics. With our last season's squad, we were better with Borriello and Pirlo, and worse with Huntelaar. The first two make the team to able to play its best (we had). That is what really matters.

Maybe because it's Huntelaar's debut season, and the team's strategy suits more Borriello's characteristics? Is this Huntelaar's fault?

How do you know we play better with Pirlo in the side? Last season when Pirlo was injured for two months, we actually were top of Serie A, beat Inter Merda, and were playing the best football in Italy. Pirlo returns and we drop form, coincidence?

Chelsea posses a big club midfield where players know the simplest aspect of the game : to pass.
So I really doubt he is stupid enough to want him when he have Ballack , Lampard & Deco.
Bigger teams like Milan doesnt need him coz they have normal midfielders & if they did need him they will get him considering they got much better players like Sheva & Kaka.
Pirlo & Seedorf will stay , get used to it.

Pirlo is NOT average. God, some people are pathetic. You can say he's overhyped, that's possibly true. But what he does well, there are maybe 5 players in world on his level in terms of range of passing, and pace setting from CM.

World class post The Bear. I think you're all missing his point on 'take creative focus' off pirlo. Pirlo is our ONLY ball playing CM. Seedorf can do it, but he doesn't play CM anymore so he's not really relevant to topic. Flamini, Gattuso, Ambro? No way. Ambro and Flams may have some ability, but neither can distribute ball under pressure or really in general. Just simple 5 yard passes, which is fine, it's not there role to distribute

In 2003 we had seedorf who was mobile, rui costa, and sheva. Then came kaka. All these players tended to drop into midfield when needed. Rui would go deep, seedorf would be everywhere. Sheva would fall back deep too, along with kaka....

We have NO players on par with these players in terms of attacking mobile and dropping deep for creativity to eleviate pirlo. Ronnie has the creativity, but he plays too high to really get involved in build up. It's also just not ideal to bring him in the build up anyway cause he doesn't have burst to get from there into the box nor does he work like a CM.

Pato is just fast, and a great finisher but in terms of creating... not so much yet (which is fine, he's 20... let him do what he does well). I struggle with idea of him as second striker, cause the likes of del piero, sheva etc who played it at a world class level tended to drop ALOT deeper EFFECTIVELY than pato. Pato does his best damage making runs and finishing plays. Perhaps it's team milan decide to make him #9 and deal with fact he's gonna be overmatched physically at times.

Seedorf, i love him, but he just can't cover the ground he used to....

The team is a 1 man team (pirlo) in terms of mounting an attack. If he get's supply cut off (like v. Arsenal in 2008 or Inter this year) Ronnie doesn't even bet the ball. Thats what the better teams realized. The smaller teams don't press as much, but bigger squads who don't need to defend with 10 men, realize press Pirlo, and ball never gets to attack for milan.....It's that simple. Even the addition of a DM like yaya or de rossi, would make a huge difference cause they can play the ball as well with pirlo, and it wouldn't be same store of win ball, give to pirlo, watch him try to make a decision while being pressured.

Finally people will constantly compare to Xavi and say this doesn't happen to him. You can't just cut off barca's supply by marking out xavi... why? Because Iniesta, Yaya and Keita can advance ball from defense. And ALL are better than every CM milan has. Xavi doesn't have to touch a ball for barca to score 5 goals. Pirlo does, and that doesn't make pirlo better than xavi at all.... only that milan is wayy too dependent on his passing to move the ball forward

he'd succeed in chelsea too.... but youre point illustrates my point. You can't just cut off chelsea's midfield via 1 man. If you mark lampard out of game, ballack, deco, even essien can do much more with ball than any Milan midfielders.

In many ways i think this illustrates just how vital seedorf was to 2003-7 milan's success.

So if it suits Borriello better he has been more useful, and Huntelaar not so much, so even it's not Huntelaar to blame, it still made him not adding much.

I made that conclusion when we played without Pirlo last season. But this is kinda difficult thing to conclude, everyone can think different in this. But people over bash him really. He has gained weaknesses, but people forget to appreciate what he adds.

Exactly, so out with the old trash, in with the new.

Milan is NOT going to move forward as long as the likes of Pirlo, Seedorf, Pippo, etc... stay here. Not only do they take HUGE undeserved wages, they also occupy a spot that would better be occupied by a youngster.

I can't believe a Milan fan would want to still keep Pirlo and co. Even if it's based on past glories, it'll always be Milan > Pirlo (or any player for that matter). So, for the good of Milan, these fuckers need to fuck off.

i'll still stand by my scholes comparison. Scholes has still played wonderful @ Man utd at age 35. He was probably the best player in semi's and finals v. barca and chelsea in 2008 (when he was 33). But he has a functional midfield around him so he doesn't have to be god/superman. He can just do what he does best which is distribute the ball....

milan is asking pirlo to be some sort of mythical god now, something the likes of xavi, fabregas etc. etc. don't have to do. I mean people can praise leo all they want but his 4-2-1-3 was major reason milan got embarassed by inter and man utd. He had 4 players who just sat too high up pitch and were waiting on pirlo to give them ball. Not to hard to figure out if you're opposing team w/ class players... attack pirlo, and ronnie (nonexsistent), pato (nonexistant) etc. won't ever have an impact

This can't be valid comparison. Different players have different bodies. Zidane was great at 34, Raul was finished at 26.

EVEN IF your argument is true. What's better/easier/smarter? To replace Pirlo or replace the whole squad just to accommodate Pirlo? ;)

but thats not my argument. You can bring fabregas or xavi or whoever and it'll be SAME sturggles. play them in 3 man with flamini and ambrosini (or gattuso) with an aging seedorf or ronaldinho too high up pitch..... you still do same tactic, attack them, and watch them not be able to get ball forward because they r marked out of game

easiest solution is adding a box to box midfielder with creativity. In short, seedorf circa 2003.

No one said the whole team is perfect apart from Pirlo. A lot of players should be replaced, and Pirlo is one of them.

nah, but he can still contribute, so why sell him, probably for cheap cause he's 31 and no1 other than milan pays for 31 year olds, and then buy someone for much more with nonexistent money... the more logical move is to buy a seedorf replacement and rotate clarence/pirlo in other role.

Important in an average era.
I mean we suffer if average Bori or average Anto is absent & only true Milan fans will want to replace the average ones with better ones.

The problem isnt hating Pirlo but rather over hyping Pirlo.

emm i think 'true milan fans' would support one of our main players isntead of wanting to replace him when we all know that isnt going to happen

In what way exactly does Pirlo contribute? Please enlighten me, Senatore. (and don't answer by digging up a free kick vid that is 4 years old)

PS- When Carlo first took charge, he sold Albertini who even though is a Milan legend, had just came out from a shitty season. Albertini was only 31, and he left for peanuts. Yet, can anyone say it wasn't the correct decision? Selling Demetrio made way for Pirlo to take his place, a new generation for Milan that eventually went on to dominate Europe. Everything has an end. I'll leave it at that. ;)

If we sign new players and create a new midfield that's good without Pirlo, I am open to it. (Players like Inzaghi and Gattuso should REALLY be gone by now.)

Read my above posts. He's our only ball playing midfielder period. Her distributes the ball, sets pace, and leads the attack with passes to attacking third. It may sound simple, its not.

Ronaldinho is not a midfielder, seedorf doesn't actually play midfield anymore. Without him (or seedorf covering his position) we can't advance ball to attack.

evident by games he missed milan were bad w/ ambrosini/flamini pairing.

finding a seedorf-esque player (circa 2003-2006 when he played LCM) to play with Pirlo + DM will solve the midfield issues

Forza Pirlo... the hating on him is almost as stupid as the hate towards dinho.

Pirlo is a quality player still, and by quality I don't mean a ballon d'or winner but someone that can do his work properly.

Pirlo can give us 2 more good years, we need to reinforce on other positions.

Last season when he was out injured for two months, and Seedorf played in his position, we played great football, beat Inter Merda, and topped the Serie A. When he returned, we returned to losing again.

I'm not saying sell Pirlo and do nothing. I said REPLACE. Fact is, he's a weak link.

that was 2 years ago, and if you notice i didn't say seedorf is a problem either. He can play similar to pirlo. But they can't play together cause they can't cover the ground.

seedorf/pirlo + DM + box to box player like seedorf USED TO be.

only solution is keep pirlo and buy
1. a box to box mf like young seedorf (wasnt that guy special when he was young nah)
2. perfect dm in the world ( a young gattuso wasnt he perfect couple of years ago)
3. fullbacks who can run ( cafu maldini aint those guys one of the best in football histroy nah nothing compared to maestro)
4. dont forget about a clinical striker ( a young pippo and a young shevchenko, those guys banged 500 goals among themselves)

do pirlo need anymore requirements to play better??

i would say his peak was never compared to any of the above. pirlo was never ever the best player in his team forget about the world :D

Nah lets buy a wc team for mastero pirlo rather selling this overrated cunt of no use who cant run who cant tackle who can score from fk and who cant pass anything towards the striker.

maestro peeerlo

pirlo lived on others work and reputation cause without them he has no identity now dont act like that he was the best and he carried milan forget it

sheva kaka maldini pippo gattuso seedorf nesta and even dida were better thaqn him in most of the title winning seasons.

if i have to keep one among pirlo or seedorf i will keep seedorf cause both cant run but seedorf can play in pirlos position and he can play as a am and he has a good understanding with milans best player RONALDINHO :star:

oh one more thing forget about worlds best player

ambros contribution this term > pirlos and ambro is far from being a top player in the world of football even though he is really good for milan

only solution is keep pirlo and buy
1. a box to box mf like young seedorf (wasnt that guy special when he was young nah)
2. perfect dm in the world ( a young gattuso wasnt he perfect couple of years ago)
3. fullbacks who can run ( cafu maldini aint those guys one of the best in football histroy nah nothing compared to maestro)
4. dont forget about a clinical striker ( a young pippo and a young shevchenko, those guys banged 500 goals among themselves)

I actually think only #1 is necessary. #4 is necessary more cause if Pato doesn't play it doesn't matter who our midfield is... we're fucked.

# 2. would be nice cause I don't rate flamini way you do, but really flams + ambro is sufficient if #1 comes. #3, i feel comfortable with our FBs TBH. I like antonini, abate's growth with zambrotta's exerience. We could upgrade it though, but it's not the most vital IMO.

I'm trying to leave my bias as much out of this as possible. Pirlo is one of my favorite players, i won't deny it. I will recognize his flaws. At same time, people are just ignoring all the things he CAN do, which r vital to milan's football, and its a certain skillset that only a handful of people globally have. It's just like saying we should replace ronaldinho cause he doesn't run as much as kaka.... or, thats a fact he doesn't. But what he can do.... i mean that's a gift no one else has (diagonal ball :proud:)
