Friendlies don't really mean that much. There is no need to be overly worried. For him it's probably all about experimenting and every game is progress. As for the likes of Zaccardo and Bonera they will not touch the first team side in competitive games unless there is no better.

Most Milan supporters are aware of what the real problem is, and it's not the coach. Alas, it doesn't look like we will achieve any form of drastic improvement without investment. Realistically we're probably looking at 5th place at best.

Sigh Pippo. You have my support even though I prefer Seedorf but you have yet to give us an identity. What really worries me is the extreme lack of confidence that plagues our boys. For example when defending normal players would close down quite quickly without hesitation but our lads will run up to them and stand a few paces off and wait for them to move instead of closing them down completely. This is why we conceded that second goal. It's as though they're so scared off committing to the challenge and being bypassed that they'd rather not try. On the attack now we are waayy too rigid. When one player passes to another he never makes himself available for a combination. In other words once you receive the ball you are on your own. Ridiculous. We also take wayyy too many touches on the ball. We about three just to control the ball. We look unatural with the ball at our feet especially our midfielders bar one or two. We are also too far away from our teammates. We never run to assist or offer an outlet so we always pass backward. The football just isn't modern. But I'll breath red and black till I die.... I just hope that my coach notices and addresses these issues.. Forza MILAN

Its all about that mental part

Both Pippo and Seedorf talked about it, but it takes time... You cant expect the team thats mentally down been underperforming for over 2 years to get up and play like Simeones players after a month of pre season. It takes tine

Also, some players could just be weak mentally and are pussies. I have quite a few on my mind.
Poli dissapointed me a lot. We all now that hes capable of a lot more but the guy is scared of even making a 5m pass forward.

if the coach decide to use bonera in every game and make him captain, then yes, he is the fault.

that "friendly matches don't mean nothing" logic is beyond me, especially when it's during PRE-SEASON which are meant to be PREPARATION matches...
this is not "oh we're in march and we're not in CL and there is international break, a free weekend, let's play a friendly and let those who have not played much have some time"
These are the matches meant to make us find our mechanisms and automatism to be ready for the season (less than 2 weeks away BTW)

great contribution!

that lack of teeth, incisiveness going forward is frustrating.
i'm not particularly a fan of Taarabt, but i think he is the only player (among those we can get) who can help us with that unless. i'd pick him before Cerci or Douglas Costa.
that Solo-ism that would be a flaw in any normal organized team is what we desperately need. someone who will take the game to the opponent....someone crazy, when he gets the ball the opposing defenders say "oh shit, here comes that fucker again!"... right now, when we are attacking the opposing defenders say to each others "just stand your ground they're not going to do shit, they'll pass among themselves then send it back to their goalkeeper"
and under Mister Seedorf it showed, the only few games he was on the bench we were back to our toothless selves ...
i hope and think Armero also be one to put opposing defenses on their toes.

about Pippo, from the beginning i have my opinion of the type of coach he is or will be, it's only based on intuition. only time will tell how good/bad he is. sure certain decisions are WTF-ish and the overall quality of our play is not good enough (even when considering all factors, like players out, and 5 weeks in pre-season).
BUT...we are in the Galliani system, a system that HATES real changes...and Pippo has been appointed because he is one that will not change much ... the last guy wanted too much change ... that's a capital sin the system.
so unless that system is dealt with, coaches (no matter how good or bad) will only be able to give as much result as the system allows... and with that system the max we can only go up to 3 stars out of five.

I'm not liking the system of the formation. In the letter it is 4-3-3 but in the game is not the same. Full backs are advanced and our DM looks like he is a 3rd defender. So it looks like 3-4-3. There is no team work, we only defend with 2 players, it reminds me of Allegri's game.

I love how everyone is freaking out because he is playing Bonera and Zaccardo. Isn't it obvious that the players getting the most playing time are the ones playing for their jobs? Pippo is giving them an extended look to determine who stays, who plays, and the like.

It's hard to tell whether Inzaghi is very good if he doesn't have a lot of good players. I doubt even Ancelotti would go very far with our current team. Yes some coaches might be better at creating plays and getting some rough points, but the question is not whether Inzaghi is an awesome coach atm but whether he's an ok coach with possibility to get better.

In other words, it's my belief that any ok coach with this team wouldn't do better.
If you're dissapointed that Inzaghi is not an awesome coach atm, then you should stop believing the bs that Galliani says .

we walk a delicate line now . do we sacrifice players with no talent but good influences or players with talent and bad influences . seeing as bonera and zaccardo have been blocked and balo sold ...its pretty clear where we are heading .

poor pippo ...he dreams of pandev and dzemaili . 2 guys with next to nothing to offer and so of course want to come to Milan I mean why would these two care about playing champions league ...who else will take them ..man city ..psg.

he's the coach and perhaps he felt he couldn't work with balo and I respect him if that is the case but it isn't . the truth is he was hired because he won't complain and because he won't demand .

I wish him all the best cause it could potentially be the season that destroys us . this is not melodramatic ...this is the truth . if we have no money after one failed season...what will we do after 2 .

Saturday August 23 2014 Inzaghi: 'Milan on right track'

Pippo Inzaghi said Milan are “on the right track” and can win back their fans after beating Juventus in the Trofeo TIM.

The Rossoneri won 1-0 in the opening 45-minute match of this pre-season tournament, which also includes Sassuolo.

I am very happy with the attitude of these lads. Clearly Juve are an incredible team, but we held out well, did good counters and threatened a second goal,” the Coach told Mediaset.

We are really on the right track and I like the heart and hunger of these players, which is what we wanted to rebuild.

I see improvements with each game and the team is growing constantly. On the one hand I am happy, on the other I know we need time.

The Milan fans will return to the stadium. That was my objective and seeing them play like this, with this intensity and desire, I am sure their enthusiasm will come back.

We're counting friendlies now  ... probably Allegri won't sleep after suffering such a humiliating defeat.

isn't he used to that?

Sunday August 24 2014 Inzaghi: 'Milan gain without Balotelli'

Pippo Inzaghi said Milan will “gain in team spirit and hunger” with Mario Balotelli’s move to Liverpool.

The Coach spoke to reporters at the Forte dei Marmi beach resort, including MilanNews.it, about the imminent £16m (€20m) transfer.

When a player leaves, it means all the parties involved took this decision. We are certainly losing a great player, but we gain something more in team spirit and hunger.

I wish Balo all the best at Liverpool.”

The search is on for a replacement with the likes of Jackson Martinez, Mattia Destro, Leandro Damiao, Fernando Torres and Alvaro Negredo mentioned.

The directors know what I want on the market. I have to train the players at my disposal and we have a squad up to the task. If someone else arrives then even better, but otherwise we’re fine as we are.

Inzaghi hinted the key to a post-Balotelli system would be using a ‘False 9.’

Jeremy Menez can play any of the three attacking roles and help us to use a different system. He is a versatile player who will be of great use.
