Kessie has been impressive in a more defensive role.

yeah, I think he can do well there... he's good at getting in attacking positions too, but always fucks up, but a more limited midfield role is good for him... he has a lot of stamina and physically a beast

hope he continues and only improves

Yep, I said last year if only he stopped running forward he'd be much better. He can get into positions but 99% of the time messes up as you've said, and is much more suited to this current role he's adopted.

Agreed. He's now always where he should have been. I'm surprised it wasn't more obvious to the coaches.. I mean, what is he good at? stamina, strength, running, breaking up plays. What is he bad at? Decision making with the ball, dribbling/beating his man, shooting.... hmmmm seems pretty tough to find his best position right? ;)

He's been playing so well it is almost confusing why we need to replace him and get somebody else unless they're miles better I'm not sure I see the point or the value in it...

Been our best player since the league restarted.

The only possible reason one could want him out is if his type of play doesn't fit Rangnick's system. Even then it doesn't make much sense.

The possibility of finding a new player to come in and play at his current level is very low.

He's playing on a different level....a true midfield monster. It took him some time but the hype from his Atalanta days is proving to be true. :proud:

Hes a fuckin monster now. Arguably the most important player in the team.

Credit to Pioli tho. Finally found the best position for Kessie

Franck the Tank!

P.s. - Also added sweetener is that Necro doesnt rate him lol

Easily my favorite player in this Milan squad.

He was a victim of Susoball. Having to protect the Spaniard all game and being confined by the touchline was not the kind of game he should be playing. In wide open central space he basically steamrolls the midfield with Bennacer. Will always remember the Lazio game last week where he forced Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to ask to be subbed out.

Totally wasted as a box to box midfielder... he was a pivot also at Atalanta

Maestro Pioli is showing him the way again

Tonali is nothing compared to Kessie

macro doesn't rate any physical players. Funnily enough kessie is actually both physical and impressive technically too.

Stronger players can be technical too. That's what we need anyway.

As I had been screaming hoarse through the summer, he's such an obvious unfit to the style of the manager that our inability to sell him was one of our biggest failures of last summer market.. right after our inability to sell Suso.

Now we'll just end up selling him for peanuts next summer.

He's the Niang of midfielders.

So god damn sloppy and wasteful.,

But we have no one else with his athleticism and work rate on his position and this is painfully obvious when he's not on the pitch.
Just like 2014-15 season Niang.

There's a big difference though.
Niang was extremely frustrating to watch, but I wasn't mad at him.
This guy is as infuriating as it gets.
How many times have we seen him do this?

He's not alone in being selfish, but his selfishness is something else.
There's something seriously wrong with this guy.
I always felt he was a bit "off", and then the derby row happened.
Pretty sure he would be diagnosed with narcissistic / anti-social personality disorder if he met a psychologist, but it doesn't explain the stupidity in his selfish decision-making.

@Fabio as much as we love Kessie since the restart, you can't deny he was infuriating for large spells of the first half of the season and even last season at times. He had stagnated and wasn't improving. Maybe not all his fault, blame the manager or w/e as well for not playing him in a suitable role but yeah...

He's wasteful, and selfish when he's in the box. I'm pretty sure he has ADHD, or some other disorder. Watching those gifs is still infuriating.

However I've always appreciated his workrate, and wanted to see him in a more defensive role.

We're depending far too much on Kessie in the final third.
Paqueta on the other hand seems to be overburdened with defensive responsibility.
Move Paqueta up the pitch and confine Kessie into a mainly defensive role.

Mainly, not purely defensive role.
A double pivot system still has room for box-to-box running from the mids.

Biglia or Bakayoko would have the sitting role. Kessie would still be the engine of the team, still do up and down running on and off ball, and probably still get to waste tons of attacks(and still have a chance to improve in this area), but it will be reduced in favor of Paqueta.

Turns out Paqueta is even more wasteful than him.

When RESTRICTED kessie can do well as we saw. Still some dumb fouls coused by raw force but when he plays simple its muuuuch better. Kessie "essien" was horrible!
