It's derby time! I can't wait for this game!

Preview from Channel4.com

Inter - Milan
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

The Derby della Madonnina couldn’t have come at a more crucial time, as a win would put Inter back in the Scudetto race and defeat would let the Rossoneri silence their critics.

Roberto Mancini continues to maintain the title is not beyond him despite dropping 11 points shy of the joint leaders. They had the opportunity to close the gap last weekend, but allowed a late Henok Goitom equaliser to give Udinese a 1-1 draw.

Adriano is still looking for his best form after three weeks out with a calf strain clearly affected the hitman, who hasn’t scored since December 12. Christian Vieri suffered bruised ribs during the Stadio Friuli game and might make way for Obafemi Martins, whose pace could prove crucial against the less than sprightly Milan back line.

The Rossoneri may have struggled to scrape wins against Lazio, Reggina and Cagliari of late – earned with two injury-time winners and a freakish own goal – but they have still managed to eradicate an eight-point lead to catch Juventus at the top of the table. Those victories came at a heavy price, however, as Andriy Shevchenko clashed heads with Cagliari’s Simone Loria last week and had two titanium plates implanted to heal a fractured cheekbone. It’s an injury that has ruled the European Player of the Year out for a month and we probably won’t see him on the field again until after Easter.

With Filippo Inzaghi still out of action with a fractured bone in his right hand and Giuseppe Pancaro suspended for this tie, we could see Carlo Ancelotti revert back to his favoured Christmas tree formation. Patron Silvio Berlusconi has always publicly berated his Coach for using this tactic, but in the circumstances it could be his only option, especially with Jon Dahl Tomasson and ex-Inter hero Hernan Crespo struggling for form. Serginho has impressed of late and could be used in a more advanced role, or as a left-back in place of Pancaro with Manuel Rui Costa partnering Kaka in that support slot for lone striker Crespo.

Inter (probable): Toldo; J Zanetti, Cordoba, Mihajlovic, Favalli; Veron, C Zanetti, Cambiasso, Stankovic; Adriano, Martins

Milan (probable): Dida; Cafu, Nesta, Maldini, Kaladze; Gattuso, Pirlo, Seedorf; Rui Costa, Kaka; Crespo

Ref: To follow...

My formation for the INTER MILAN MATCH:4-3-2-1
DiDa
Stam Nesta Maldini Kaladze

Gattusso Pirlo Serginho

KaKa Rui Costa

Crespo

Stam will help with marking the big target for Inter which is Adriano and Christian Vieri. Seginho to give his exceptional pace on a wing and crespo upfront pretty much the same as the lineup who played Manchester United.
If we win it should be a 1-0 win to Milan.

we need more fresh legs than that after that epic at old trafford...
i wanna see
dida
stam - nesta - maldini - kaladze
ambrosini
pirlo dhorasoo
rui costa
tomasson crespo

gattuso was running around everywhere and kaka needs a rest. cafu at his age (ahem) also needs a breather. they can come on in the 2nd half if we not winning yet...

seedorf did well in old trafford but thats cause the english style of play gives him so much space. i expect a tighter affair from a serie A team...dhorasoo s fresh and gets the gong from me.

rui costa and kaladze not seen too much first team action and i feel they have earned their right to start this derby...
we also need whatever time for tomasson to earn his paycheck as well

I think we should play with our best defence

cafu---stam---nesta---maldini

We need cafu on the flanks, he's verry important for us because he's the only defender that makes it to the backline and has the ability to deliver some good crosses

And ofcourse we have to play

Rui costa---kakà
crespo

upfront :)

I agree about the fresh legs but we still need Kaka in this match and I'm sure that Christmas formation is the best option for this match. Maybe Carlo should play Stam and Nesta in the center and Maldini in the left with Cafu still in the right. There isn't any problem with the midfield for me (if Seedorf can play well, but Seedorf usually plays well against Inter - remember last season :p) Crespo should be the lone striker :)
My prediction: 2-1 for Milan
FORZA MILAN!

If Inter is going to lose their unbeaten record, no better team should do it than Milan (the way MU beat Arsenal's record).

Both team will be tired after the CL game but a win would put Inter out of the scudetto race for good. Our performance hasn't been spectular despite getting 4 wins in a row, topping the league and beating MU but our defense has been really strong and that would be decisive against the like of Vieri, Adriano and Martin.

If possible, all players that play againts MU should be played with Serginho substituting for Rui Costa.

I hope the guys have gained some confidence after beating ManU this week and will trash Inter in front of their supporters. I wanna see things like Inter supporters giving their subscriptions for the season to homeless:D on the street (like,:D that happended before) and whistling at their players!!!:devil2:

We should stick for now in 4-3-2-1 formation , it gives us more security in the middle .. probably the victory againts M.United will help us , we should limit that kid Martins .. such for Adriano .. he is off .. but u never know at him .. If Inter plays openly it will be great match ..

FORZA MILAN!!

I think we should go for the jugular against Inter and attack, attack, attack!

Therefore, we need to play Kaka - who plays well against Inter.

A lot of players may be jaded after last night's match, but it's the same story with the Inter players just returning from Portugal and I doubt very much if any member of the Milan will not give 100% in a derby, especially against an unbeaten Inter side.

I'm worried about this game. Not because inter are a better team(they aren't) but because it will be a very psycological mathc. Inter have not lost this season. Milan must forget about the past and just pummel them. If you beleive that a team cannot be beaten, you will not beat them.

The only thing I remember in the match against Manu concerning Gattuso was when he was lyeing flat eating the turf several times ... or maybe his desperate chasing of the ball. IMO Gattuso needs a rest!!!

Seedorf was on the point of being substituted in the 2nd half when he was becoming too slack , but fortunately his shot that gave Crespo the opportunity to score came in time.

I think the fact that Inter are unbeaten will give the Milan players extra motivation, if any were needed, to beat them.

Milan to win by seventeen clear goals...over the ninety minutes, naturally.

Surely it will be a motivation for Milan.. About Gattuso, he needs a rest but we need him in Inter match and I'm sure Gattuso himself doesn't want to miss this game! I think every players are ready to give the best in this derby match!

Yup, Adriano is off form but Martins is still a danger but I don't really worried about that.. Nesta and Maldini surely know how to stop him! About the scudetto race, Mancini had given up last week..

Well, everything points to a draw I think... with Inters record. But looking back over the last few years, current form (of both teams) and the confidence gained after Old Trafford I think we´ll win this one. Maybe not 6-0 again but maybe 3-1.... I hope :)

Here´s what i´m hoping for:

Dida

Cafu - Nesta - Maldini - Kaladze

Pirlo

Seedorf - Ambrosini

Rui Costa

Tomasson - Crespo

I heard last week that Mancini had said that they could still win it ?!? Actually the article was there because everybody was surprized that he had´nt given up.

Whats the story then? Has he trown in the towel or not?

Then again, does it matter. This is just speculation but I think he will try to make his team win this match no matter what.

Somehow I doubt Milan will have the concentration. Taking a victory from OT provided too much of a high (comment Crespo: 'The goal was better than an orgasm :D ') + now they're slowly coming down...

A draw.

ja, for some reason the draw looks almost inevitable. Not a good time for a draw either, seeing how Juve are hosting Siena this matchday. The good thing is, Juve still will have to play Inter once more where as we will be done with them after this weekend. A Milan victory would all but cash Inter out. Maybe the the boy wonder will resume his previous dominance over the cousins this weekend.

I hope the derby man "Serginho" will be played.
He's so lucky in derbies, and we do need fresh legs after the exertions of CL.
