He makes that frail backline a bit more secure. He can be beaten by aerial battles but other than that de Boss. I like those sliding tackles to intercept a pass. Very underrated move.

De Jong had 97.3% Pass Success in 2 matches in CHL (Ajax and Celtic) better then Xavi, Schweinsteiger and Pirlo.

but his passes don't lead to goals

or would you say he is a better passer than those mentioned above?

everybody knows he's not a better passer than those guys, but the number prove how composed and effective he is

De Jong plays safe passes, hence the higher rate. He is accurate, but Xavi, Pirlo etc are not only accurate, they also are able to calculate the movement of the players and give enough power to the ball to be intercepted by the teammate.

If I remember correctly, last year Zapata also had 80-85% percent success rate ... and we all know how good Zapata is at passing the ball.

he is getting booked too easily (i know today it wasnt a yellow card) and that leads him not to be able to play 100% otherwise a beast in our midfield

Pirlo's goal was partially his fault.

Not very compatible with Monto so far

His short stature and poor aerial game for a CDM is hurting us, in open play and during set pieces..especially since the other mids aren't exactly Van Bommel either. It doesn't help that he doesn't have Van Bommel's awareness either.

He's a very likable guy and I love his professionalism...but he's not improving our mid from the one of 2nd half of last season with Flamini, Monto and Muntari/Ambro. I expect his understanding with Monto and the mid as a whole to improve, but, honestly, to me it doesn't look like our mid can reach next level with NDJ and Monto.

No it won't reach the next level for sure.

Our squad is poorly constructed. We need 2 or 3 world class midfielders to start along with only one of them.

If hes so fakin good i guess why we lose all fakin games and we have ball posessions like 30% per game lol. Middlefields usually create game after they win in the middle of the field. That statistic about passes not tell anything if he shoot ball to next closest player. I havent seen him once as assistent in game. zzz hes crap as all others...

Disagree.

He is our best mid and does his job. His main issue is that he isnt the quickest but he doesnt have to be. The Pirlo goal was a slack giveaway and then an even worse wall setup.

I think Montolivo is more at fault because its his responsibility to get us going. This midfield can only work if Monty steps up alot and Poli/Muntari play consistent.

On set pieces - our players need to learn to mark and stop standing around and the big players take the responsibility of clearing when they can like Ibra did when he was here.

I would rather see him start alongside monto in a 4-2-3-1 with kaka/honda dropping deep and ses/niang on the wings.

but all in all I think he's doing a very good job at anchor, goodfella is being very harsh.

AC Milan is weakest at defence take a look how many goals they have already recieved this season. Hes a defending middlefield who create an organization that oponent players should not come close to goal. He failed much more then his fans see who praise him as best player. Hes far away to being best player. Last 4-5 games attacking middlefields and attackers in last minutes all the time save points to AC Milan after 3:0 or 3:1 lossing game... After big fail of defense where he is captain

more or less agree

but to me, he's not ideal for an anchor, but he is for a double pivot.

either move montolivo to anchor OR force a double pivot be it a 4-4-1-1 4-2-3-1 or whatever

Yes,

If Allegri doesnt get any movement going though then Kaka/Honda will have similar issues to Monty and we will have possession without creating much. Those two though maybe able to take the ball forward and then do something.

I want more direct passes to Mario and then let him drop off the ball to the AM / Wing players in space.

He looks incredibly good in this years Milan shirt. Something with his skin tone that matches perfectly with red, black and gold.

Other than that, I do think that he's done some tactical mistakes. Just because he's been one of Milan's best performers doesn't make him outstanding.

Bcse hes so fakin good defensive middlefield AC Milan defense is like Swiss chesse full of holes with him as commander who should take controll of the ball on the field out of danger zone and thats why we have 20% ball possesion on all games.
