If he remains, I hope the management forcibly enroll him in some coaching crash courses whether it be with Capello or Sacchi or both.

I understand he doesn’t have a good squad but the lack of ideas and stubbornness are on him.

No ones saying the squad is world beaters but it's better than the results Pioli has got this season.

We have been hammered by Sassuolo at home and Lazio away were 2 of the worst. We can't beat teams in the bottom 3. It's time for him to go.

We don't need to debate this. Let's see who the next coach is and let's see what happens with this squad and where we finish.

This might have been a surprising performance for most this year but not beyond the realms of expectation after the summer mercato where we gambled on a bunch of no name amateurs while letting the more important players leave.

Allegri is a world class manager.
You aren't around back then here in RnB, nobody considered him world class. In fact most of this forum laughed their ass when news broke out that marotta hiring him to replace conte.
I see similar potential with allegri in pioli (probably even greater tbh). Our last season comes out of nowhere, unlike the 2011 where we're heavy favorites. Who know pioli true capability if given the right players to work with?

He won panchina d’oro at Cagliari and won scudetto in his first season with us. 11/12 was a failure considering what was at stake but 12/13 was a success given what transpired the summer before. I wanted him sacked in 13/14 but if we’re honest that squad was woeful to say the least. His success at Juve wasn’t surprising. Look at what he’s done this season as well.

I think we need to make a ton of changes next mercato....too many players are not Da Milan. We thank Pioli for the scudetto but he's out of ideas and needs to go. Maldini needs to get rid of the trash and do a much better job getting players. If we get a new coach we need to get players that fit his system and not create new roles for them. Also Gerry has to open his wallet or we'll be back in the banter era. I know Giroud has re-signed, I wish he didn't because he's not the type of striker we need, and Diaz has to go, I'm tired of watching him get dispossessed. I don't understand how management can't see his flaws that are evident to all of us. Next season will be very important to see what direction the club will go, so failure to get good players is not an option.

Too much talking about lack of ideas.
What ideas can you have if you do not have the tools to implement them?
Roma score only on corners because they have headers of the ball. Inter play wide effectively because they have 3 good strikers who can rotate for 2 positions. If you look at their performances a few months back you would see how shit they were because Lukaku and Martinez were not in form.
Having ideas worth nothing if you can't implement them.

So, we are fine by hiring a new coach and giving him the players who fit his system. But it was ok to remove key players from Pioli's system and not replacing them?
Even his scudetto winning team had to be reinforced with a good RW and CF. But we ignored that and gave him bunch of kids. The striker position got even worse as Zlatan could not play even 2 full games this season and Giroud got a year older and slower. How do you expect him to repeat what he did with a much weaker squad while almost everyone admits that the team overachieved last year? You guys need to wake up and face the reality.
This team needs a real DM, RW, CF, and CAM to play the perfect football we saw from Pioli's Milan last season. His system needs certain players to work well, just like any other successful club.

This is true but also you cannot ignore how poorly he dealt with the new signings.

Adli was supposed to replace Calhanoglu, and he was left at Bordeaux to ease his adaptation. He hardly ever plays.

CdK was bought in as an attacking option and we saw that he had talent during pre season but is it normal how he looks now? When he actually starts to gain confidence Pioli shuns him. When he is out of form he brings him on only to lower his self confidence. And he never tried him as a vice-Giroud it must be said.

Vranckx and Pobega, they also never got a proper run of games to try at DM either. Pioli preferred to overuse Tonali there.

Thiaw looked excellent 9/10 and he went for Kjaer in that 1st leg UCL semi. Even Kalulu looks low on confidence, could it be because he was dropped to the bench after suffering a minor injury?

Can we say for sure that any player improved his level this season thanks to Pioli's management?

Leao still cannot play centrally, Rebic is done for, Alexis still doing his stupid flicks and his goal contribution decreased, Tomori still looks lost on space, and even Theo seems more timid.

I admire what Pioli has done for us, I will always be grateful to him, he has been the only proper coach we had since early days Allegri but the way he managed his squad this season makes me feel that he doesn't have that same passion he had when he first join us. It's probably time for new ideas.

He was a sensible coach till this winter. He completely lost his marbles. Maybe we had high expectations. I like Stefano though

if they brought in a solid cf and rw I’m sure pioli would have been fine for this season.

Origi instead of Dybala was a huge costly mistake.

With that being said, I do believe we had enough quality to fight for the scudetto. and just completely threw it away.

We looked like champions early on, but I feel pioli really threw that away and killed our momentum

I never expected much of Pioli, and after this high levels chalengings, i expect much less, lack of ideas, attitude, every opponent face us knowing exactly our game plan, giving us the ball, packing our wingers making our CF useless. Pioli never overcome any of that. Were the same team from the day Ibrahimovic arrived, won a scudetto with two goals 44+ and lost another 2.

The 'project' went well for him, i hope for him only the best, but we need to have a better coach, even Conte that i hate, would do.

You are wrong ,we never had enough quality for scudetto. But for top 4 we had. At the end ,only Juventus can save us to reach top4.

Origi didn't come instead of dybala, it was the useless CDK who did come instead of both Dybala and Ziayach, to be honest i expected Origi to do good things here, not sure if he sucked and that we lacked any attacking plan, Injury of he isn't good enough, but regardless of anything we will need AM, CF, and RW and knowing maldini we might end up with one of them and the rest he will cry about the money and the fair play rules which only applies to us.

Pioli should leave, however i don't think this is happening this year unfortunately.

I completely disagree. We have three top top players in this squad. And very solid players in other positions. We have a weaknesses in our cam and rw positions. Winning last year was no fluke.

Depth now is a whole separate issue.

It’s also no fluke that we annihilated Napoli this year(league winners). There is A LOT of quality in this team

He should have been given the boot in January. At least then we would have made top 4 in the league.

It has been a season of truly awful performances in the league.

Time to go.
That's a definite, yes? For sure?

And would we have made CL semifinals? ( I know it doesn't mean much now)

You can never be sure in football but a change was needed in January. I've loved the run to the semifinals in the CL but the weekly form in Serie A has been atrocious.

Pioli has made some strange decisions resting nearly all first teamers in certain games and we've paid the price.

Without a footballing miracle - us recovering 4 points from 9 over Lazio or Juve being docked over 10 points we won't be in the CL next season. The main responsibility for that failure is with Pioli.

The summer transfers were poor. Maldini dropped one going for Origi over Dybala. I honestly don't see what Maldini sees in Origi. He is as average as the day is long.

Although we have shown improvement in the CL run we are now out of the competition next season. That of course means less money for transfers and some players will only join for CL football. Our progress comes to a halt.

I don't want another Serie A season like this next year.

I'm not going to pretend that I am content if we miss out on top 4, I think there would be serious questions and he should probably go unless we cannot find a serious alternative.

Swapping the entire squad for the small teams was not a good idea, it literally never worked out.

2023/24 head coach = Pioli IF AND ONLY IF WE SOMEHOW END UP QUALIFYING FOR THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE

I am being reasonable up front so hopefully it helps Pioli’s addicts digest the rest of the post.

I have calmed down a lot since Tuesday and decided to stick around the forums until the season is over. I must stay away from match threads though regardless of Milan winning, losing, drawing, qualifying or not qualifying for the Champions League. They are not healthy at the moment.

We need to take a careful and neutral look at the work of the whole management team without picking sides.

Maldini & Massara

Goods – Brought in Maignan, Kalulu, Theo, Tomori, Thiaw, Bennacer, Tonali, and Leao (and getting close to renewing with Leao which is so fucking unbelievable) over the years.

Bads – Took forever to negotiate their contracts in summer 2022 and did not fully focus on reinforcing the squad, brought in CDK lololololololololol.

Pioli

Goods – Laid out a good foundation for the next 5-7 years with the players he won the Scudetto with; won the Scudetto in 2022.

Bads – Mindless & panicking & unnecessary rotations, took away match fitness from key players with rotations, picked the wrong target to fight for with very limited resources (we are coming to the end of the season, resources are very limited AND THERE IS NO WAY TO CHANGE THAT FACT AS WE SPEAK, so crying about limited resources aka squad depth is impotent; be ghetto, get the best done with whatever is on hand, he might have still failed since resources are so shit but at least he would have earned a lot of respect just by picking the right and better target to fight for).

RedBird/Cardinale

Goods – nothing lel

Bads – took over the club in the summer while opponents were reinforcing their squads at the same time, paperwork was complete on August 31, 2022 lel when the summer transfer market was technically over, CDK felt like a last-minute deal than a well-planned transfer which of course turned out to be stinky and hopeless. Can’t really blame them for not putting down money in advance for M & M to go shopping, they did not want to invest more money on top of the 1.2 billion they were already spending on acquiring the club, remember they were still competing with other potential owners and did not own Milan before August 31, 2022. It is like you are bidding on a home with 2-3 more buyers and you are already doing renovations, think about that for a minute; TOOK FOREVER to renew with M & M which in turn distracted them from doing their much needed work in the transfer market. We will see if they are truly ambitious in football or just pure Murican capitalists this summer.

Anyways, if Pioli is staying make sure he FUCKING ASKS for the following reinforcement. He needs to stop being overly diplomatic and to be more direct in what he wants. Then when he does not get what he wants he can go back and slap Cardinale / M&M while packing up his stuff.

MUST-HAVE REINFORCEMENT NO EXCUSES. MANAGEMENT EITHER GET THESE OR COMMIT SEPPUKU.

Notes:

Loanees from other clubs currently at Milan, if names are not seen below are to return to their parent clubs.

Milan loanees across Europe, if names are not seen below are to renew their loans or to be sold for good.

Current players whose names are no seen below are free to move on from the club.

GK: Maignan, Vasquez, Mirante, Jungdal

Tata is going to leave.

Bring back Jungdal.

DF: Calabria, Kalulu, Florenzi (RB), Theo, Balo-Toure (LB), Tomori, Thiaw, Kjaer, Gabbia (CB) // Need one LB & one CB

Kalulu will have to compete for a starting position, he is an offensive RB and not a reliable CB. Florenzi as third RB.

Need one quality LB for Theo’s deputy. Balo-Toure third LB.

Need one seasoned CB to replace Kjaer, Kjaer can stay until his contract runs out though, he will be the next Ibrahimovic in the team.

MF: Bennacer, Adli, Tonali, Pobega, Krunic, Maldini // Need one AM and one DM

CDK goes out on loan, he has never been ready for this level of football. He should feel lucky to be a Milan loanee and not a sold player. Fucking stupid 35m.

DESPERATELY need one excellent AM who can press and make plays, think of prime Pogba, technically and physically good. No more midgets please. We need someone to replace Bennacer IMMEDIATELY.

Need one decent DM, does not have to be excellent though.

FW: Leao, Salads, Messias, OG, Colombo, CF // Need one CF and one RW

Rebic and Origi are to be sold for good. Fucking depressing pieces of shit, bad influences.

OG to stay until his contract runs out, he needs to stop asking to be the first CF though.

Bring back Colombo to be the third CF.

Need one excellent RW to be the first choice RW. Messias will be the second RW.

Need one excellent CF to be the first choice CF.

Salads will stay because he can play on both wings, not excellent but always give grinta and a good spirit.

RENEW WITH LEAO.

Long story short, one of the following is needed over the summer.

CB, LB

AM, DF

CF, RW

Head coach: ROTATES RESONABLY WHEN WE DO NOT HAVE TO ROTATE SO WE CAN ROTATE WHEN WE NEED TO ROTATE, minimal ego, impartiality (playing Favouritism-Pioli’s number one flaw), a good mentor, improvement-oriented, improvisation (brain freezes mean lack of improvisation skills, in order to improvise on the spot, you need to have understood your resources very well, and to say there is nothing to work with meaning you do not know your resources well enough), strategic thinking, ANTI-COMPLACENCY (being Complacent-Pioli’s second biggest flaw). Is this too much asking? Nope. There are less than 20 quality coaches across Europe while there are easily more than 200 quality players across the continent. The job is very specific and specialized, not many people can do it, let alone do it well.

If Cardinale laughs at this we slap him in the face until he cries. We are being very reasonable, only asking for six and not ten players. We need reinforcement.

Then after all this if you realize we are not qualifying for the Champions League as everything stands right now you just don’t know how we will ever be able to attract these reinforcement players to the club.

It is sad.

I am done venting.

Forza Milan.

There's no way that CDK goes out on loan, Adli on the other side is very likely to go out on loan. I agree on the midgets part, i want big players who can score from corners
