Now that our season is over, we can conclude:

Too little spent in the mercato and the bets that we made turned out to be wrong. The direct result is a failed season and missing out on CL. How this is going to impact our rebuilding project remains to be seen but it could vary from bad to catastrophic depending on the reaction of the owners this summer

Also, don’t neglect the more subtle L in CDK not playing or even being subbed in tonight. He is not trusted when ALL attackers and midfielders are playing like shit and we got nothing to lose. Horrible bet we made there.

Adli has been brought on twice as a sub and has been a spark each time yet he is constantly shelved. A player like him would mean so much for this midfield and attack

Thiaw is this team's best defender and yet he is inexplicably benched for a month+

The team is young, our core is here to stay for at least another 4 to 5 years, when they actually HIT their prime.

The team were ahead of schedule for the Scudetto win, and did take advantage of an easier draw to reach the UCL semis.

Plus, this season itself was awful in terms of squeezing the schedule in the first half of the season (21 games in 80 days) and then a World Cup in the middle of the season. Did not help with our players fitness and got most of them injured unnecessarily.

This defeat stings only because it was against Merda. If it were against anyone else, we would've conceded that the better team won.

THAT SAID..... Management and Pioli made quite a list of mistakes this season, and the team has regressed back to pre-Covid levels (we finished 5th that season). Bringing in new players was always going to be hit-or-miss. But if we had brought in players who were more ready to play than CDK or Thiaw or Vranckxx, perhaps we wouldn't be where we are right now.

Unless Gerry invests heavily this summer, I don't see us improving upon what we have right now. We may have a less stressful schedule in 23/24, but our inability to break down the low block still exists.

I'll hold my tongue until we see where we are at at the end of the season, but if Gerry thinks that he can get away with an Elliot-style summer mercato. He's got another thing coming to him.

who cares about what people on the forum said? tottenham + conte are a terrible recipe for cl and it was evident throught the 2 matches, maignan also saved us from going to ET and possibly losing (they were without lloris also but never mind that).

i don't wanna defend inter but they had gone through a tougher cl campaign and objectively came out on top during both legs against us, same way we were on top of napoli. the difference in coaching level+squad is just too big.
