What I’m curious about is how much of our success really was down to Moncada, because going to a director role from scouting is a huge step. We’re already seeing some revisionism go on with “it wasn’t Maldini it was all Moncada all along.” Which of course he was a huge part of it but I’m also not sure Maldini still wasn’t hugely important in our turnaround, obviously. At the very least we’ve lost a crucial part of convincing some players, we know this. I would think Maldini and Moncada had some shared vision, it wasn’t just one or the other.

We will have to see what Maldini says later on, I keep hearing about how it’s a difference in ambition and I’m not totally sure about that. Maldini has been here for 4 years and he had a long back and forth with both Elliott and now Redbird, he very well knows we can’t really move up until the stadium happens and we keep growing revenue. Like I said yesterday, I bet Gerry gave Maldini full control in exchange for saying “we’re gonna continue the low cost stuff.” Maldini had a bad season with that control, and it was either split decisions(he wasn’t gonna do that again) or goodbye.

I can kinda get it from that perspective, but what sucks is I think they’re underestimating the pull Maldini had in attracting players, and I also think Maldini and Massara would have had a better summer. All clubs miss of some signings and windows, things had mostly gone well under them and I was confident we’d have a good summer mercato.

If it really is the case that guys like Leao, Theo and Mike want to leave because we removed an ADMINISTRATOR- then that really lifts the lid on how restricted Pioli’s role was by those up top.

This is completely unprecedented, and if the sacking means losing key guys in the short term, but ensuring that any coach we have has complete autonomy over his squad and dressing room, then I have to say, I am totally for it.

You have to remember, the majority of Maldini’s career was spent under administrators like Berlusconi and Galliani having significant influence over the day-to-day operations of the squads that he was in.

Bruh Pioli doesn’t give a fuuck
If he doesn’t play him then what they gonna do sack him? Lol
sacked by october if he doesn't field all the desired players by management until then

right now it's for stability to the team (don't think so, or a really small part of it is) and financial reasons (rightfully so since maldini just extended and that was one of maldini's disputes with gerry)

From Lollo, Youtuber and he also works for Milans SoMe Channels, evethough it seems recycled news from CM.com:

Updates on how Moncada will operate in the market phase :
- No profiles like Arnautovic or Berardi, only young profiles.
- Loftus-Cheek and Kamada will still come to Milan, also appreciated by him.
- Possible international surprises, with Moncada in charge of the soccer market he will be able to make the choices he has always "advised."

unexpected turnarounds today

general going balls deep for gerry after sucking off maldini the whole time

qaas mourning maldini and calling him by his correct name
I would’ve never disrespected him like that if I knew it would end like this

I blame @SecondStar for manipulating us into using that Paul nonsense

If the alternative to American ownership was a passionate, eccentric but somehow progressive Italian billionaire, then I’d be all for it. They really don’t exist.

Unfortunately, the alternative so far has been a shady businessman from China with lime-green blazers.

The state of Serie A with its labryinthine bureaucracy and decaying infrastructure doesn’t attract the kind of investment many pine for on this board.

It’s a painful day, but we don’t know whether all of this will be positive for the club in the long run. It’s fine to mourn Maldini’s departure (I am), but decisions like this will be common with this ownership. We have to wean ourselves off of this nostalgia for Milan’s heyday. We may get there again, but it can only be done through a successful commercial model. Alas.

This is what I hate about. Not the firing itself. I disagree with it, but the way it was done is the bigger issue. Horrible, shocking, unexpected. Gave everyone a shock. Disgusting from Gerry, I will never forgive him for this. Our legend doesn’t deserve to be treated this way.

One thing against Maldini: he lacks diplomacy.. confrontation is the only thing he knows and thats not a good thing.
Maldini? Lacks diplomacy? Now I've heard it all

@bullard ^

you can have the little African poor kid

im milan until I die no matter what

maldini can spit on the shirt and I’ll still support the club

roll with who you want

I know one of the red bird guys from my PE connections

I’m actually going to call one of the principles and get their take. Doubt I’ll get anything other than fuck off
The bold part, I'm 100000% on this train.
I will always support Milan no matter what. I survived a lot of bad years and some humiliating games, I still continued to watch every game and will continue to do so.
I want the best for Milan, that we succeed and win trophies, but even in the darkest hours I will always be there to support Milan (even if there are decisions taken within the club that I don't like or agree with, that doesn't diminish my love for Milan).

So the expectation before was "being smarter than everyone else on limited dime and dominate CL in 3-5 years" but now we get rid of the guy who's publicly pushing for more money and for us to achieve the goal sooner we should demand them to win cl immediately?

Hilarious

Maldini built this team as an extension of his soul with blood, sweat and tears. A loyal and dedicated team.

That's why it will be all the more ....

Look at Perez in Real Madrid. He doesn't give a shit about this things. No attachment from him. Casillas, Raul, Guti, Ronaldo, Ramos, Zidane, Marcelo, gone, just like that. And we all know who were Raul or Casillas at that time. Also same thing with Robben, Di Maria, Bale, Ozil, Sneijder, Makalele, Higuain, now with Benzema or Hazard. You came, you served, you go. No place for emotions.

Thats why Real is the biggest club in the world

And I think their league win was somewhat of a fluke.
Not really hard to win the league when your main opponent is managed by a dude who won 5 league titles in 25 years.

In the "new" #Milan more powers to #Furlani and to the scout leader #Moncada . The philosophies for the market are different compared to the duo #Maldini - #Massara . Some negotiations carried out until yesterday have stalled. The one for #Kamada is still going on, awaiting new talks with the agents. Also likes #Nelson on a free transfer from #Arsenal (live contacts but competition in the Premier and relaunch by the Gunners).

So reports are saying Maldini wanted Berrardi and Arnautovic here. That’s sack worthy if true.

Covid hit them hard because of how they ran their finances. I didn't think they had the team or the management to win anything this year. And I think their league win was somewhat of a fluke. Real was monstrous in the CL but lost some very bad games in the league.

But I never understood the guys who were saying that they are going under or that they will suffer. None of those things happened. Their value even increased. And their player values are high so even if they have to sell, they can sell for profit.
You got into it a lot last summer with people who were saying they would go under and all this, and they were always wrong because it’s not in the interest of those around them to have Barca fail. And they’re still popular enough to sell themselves off. You were right about that.

But they’re still vulnerable like I said, no one can argue they aren’t. Not in terms of being a club but their status of what they have been. That would be like saying Milan was too big in 2005 to fall off as quickly as we did. Bad decisions snowball and teams can become bad very quickly.

You said they can just sell players but what if they have a CDK type signing that just totally flops? What if Lewandowski ages really poorly and they have a 35 year old on massive wages that nobody wants? In fact that is what got them into this position, huge salaries for players that dropped in quality or got old(sounds familiar).

And this is all to say I think they’re heading in the right direction, I think xavi is a good manager for their young players and the ones they have are really good. But my point is I wouldn’t use Barca as a “I told you so” right now, because they’re still delicate. They have to get their decisions right, a few bad ones and they’re back in a lot of shit. They’re not out of the hole quite yet.

management just sacked club legend a day after the end of the season, placing all eggs in the moncada basket, what signs do you think it transfers to an otherwise failed coach who uses milan as lifeline for his career?

who is moncada? gerry's choice

all that is to say that moncada isn't necessarily someone who should be listened to just yet.. but that the leash on removing the cogs which don't work in the machine just got a whole lot tighter
In theory yes
But I dont think thats how its gonna plan out

gerry really undermining the power of football culture and our fans. Adli is a non factor when it comes to what they need to worry about now

Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, AC Milan CEO and Head of Scouts respectively, arrived at Casa Milan a few moments ago. The two, in conjunction with the farewell of Maldini and Massara, should acquire even more tasks and "power" within the Rossoneri organization chart, especially as regards the transfer market.

Wondering why M&M didn’t listen Moncada about players he advised?

We were already there. Gerry kalima'd it away from us. Stole the heart of milan from underneath our noses when we were mourning the departure of Saint Zlatan. Gerry's trying to end the maldini lineage like the Bolsheviks ended the Romanovs. I pray for Prince Daniel for he is in great danger.

I don't compare them. I am just telling that emotions are not good in football. Fans can be emotional but not the owners or directors
