Now that the world is falling apart I’ll say I have always hated the 4231, fucking lame formation.

1 line striker is boring as fuck, I watched a match featuring Gilardino and Inzaghi up top the other night and it was miles better than watching Giroud miss every holdup play.
I hate one thing we outnumbered in midfield in cl knockout. Krunic didn’t have any chance today.

Maldini knows better and why is acting so silly? Diaz Am Jesus fucking Christ absolutely insane.

You could argue this but I don’t think any of Inter players are on the level of Leao/Theo/Maignan. Their midfield is undoubtedly better but I definitely think our defence, especially our keeper and our fullbacks are superior. Tomori/Kalulu were monsters last seasons.

Attack wise Leao is much better than Martinez. Even if Giroud is worse than Dzeko, the Leao/Giroud combo is clear to me than those 2. We saw it especially when both were firing at the start of the season. Bennacer at CAM was also doing okay.
Onana is a very very good goalkeeper. Might be number 2 in the league after Maignan and even before Lazio’s keeper.

Their attack is better than ours and the stats and our games against them prove it. Look at the pile of shit we have as attackers. Their midfield is much better than ours it’s not even close. You can argue that Theo is better than Di Marco but he has been excellent this season. Dumfries is well ahead of Calabria or Kalulu. Kjaer/Thiaw/Tomori vs their defenders. You be the judge of how much better they are

Our fans need to snap out of the delusion

This is inaccurate. Inter clearly have the better attack. It’s not even close. Martinez, Lukaku and Dzeko would all start for us.

They also have a better midfield. It’s delusional to think otherwise.

We have a better GK but their GK is not a scrub either.

You can argue our defense is better but again not by much. And some might even argue we’re not better in defense.

Inter is the better team on paper and on the pitch. They beat us 3 times this year. We couldn’t even get 1 goal in those 3 games. It’s not debatable.

Better team won. We need to focus on ourselves and move forward. Many lessons learned from these two games. Now it’s on the management to fix things.

We did well to reach the SF of the CL. But not qualifying for the CL next year will make this season a failure. The faster the coach can get this team to focus on the remaining 3 games the better.
Yeah, they’re better now. But their squad is aged and way more experienced than ours which is the main reason they won the tie imo. Once that big bunch of players stop being quite as good because they are old, where do they go from there? We are planning for the future. Not sure what inters future plans are.

But who gives a fuck about them anyway. Forza Milan.

get players that can finish chances and fix set piece defense and much of our dismay wouldn't exist.

Very respectful comments when our squad gave him every right to shit on us for the rest of time. God forbid they win the CL, man.
Imagine talking nice about Hakan when we have Diaz#10.

Leao is the most important player in the team. Team should be build around him. Give him great striker and RW who can take on defenders and take some pressure from him ,you would see balon d' or player.

Always brother. Process this defeat. This is also part of being a fan. We won 2 Euroderbies against them. They have 1. Can’t win them all.
I don’t even remember those like that
It annoys me that we basically won nothing in the years I was most passionate about milan
Last years scudetto was so much needed.
But this season made me forget about it, no joke.

Losing a CL semifinal can happen, but its the way we lost that’s heartbreaking… and againt the club I hate the most.

What was shocking to me, is how fucking stubborn Pioli is. He has seen Diaz at AM struggle against inter for the last 3 games against them, yet he keeps on doing the same thing. EVERYONE could see that as soon as Diaz had the ball somewhere between the box and midfield, 2 of their midfielders would go aggressive on him and overpower him. Fucking Pobega or even CDK would have been better against them at AM. Problem was not him not having the skills or vision, the problem is that he's built like a preteen and playing with adults.

Maignan (6 – MOTM): You could make the argument that he should’ve done more on the goal, but ultimately he was let down by his teammates at the back. Plus, he made several fantastic (really fantastic) saves tonight. So it’s a pass for him.

Calabria (4): From what we have seen in these two games, he’s not captain material. You need someone like Tonali, who gets stuck in ALL THE TIME, to lead the charge and not someone who’s constantly out of position and is weak physically.

Thiaw (6):
Along with Maignan, probably the best Milan player tonight, although that doesn’t say much. He did well against both Lautaro and Dzeko, winning some duels and at least keeping them at bay when losing them. The goal came after he was subbed off.

Tomori (4.5): He improved in the second half but his positioning was truly awful in the first half and left a hole in the heart of the defence (just like in the first leg). He’s not the Tomori we fell in love with, sadly.

Hernandez (5): Not great defensively, let’s be honest, and even though he was allowed to have a higher position from the start he added very little to the attack.

Krunic (5): Just a tad better than in the first leg, covering more space defensively and remaining calm on the ball. But he was too reckless (again) and could have been sent off.

fc-internazionale-v-ac-milan-semi-final-second-leg-uefa-champions-league-4.jpg

Tonali (5.5): He was very bright in the first half and created that fantastic chance for Diaz, but almost completely faded in the second half. Not to say that he was bad, but he wasn’t involved enough sadly.

Messias (3.5): Awful, just awful from him tonight with sloppy passing. Given that Leao was heavily marked, Milan had to play on the right a lot but the Brazilian – even when he created space for himself – was really poor with the final touch.

Diaz (3):
Questions should be asked regarding his future at the club. As soon as he got the ball, he stuck his head down and tried to dribble centrally and it always failed. Never passed when he was supposed to, and missed a fantastic chance in the first half with such an embarrassing finish.

Leao (4.5):
He wasn’t involved enough tonight, which Milan needed him to be. He had one moment, which came after a clearance really, and nearly scored but looked lazy otherwise and wasn’t synced (potentially slightly injured still).

Giroud (4): Didn’t win enough duels, just like the first leg, and when he did the flicks were always to an Inter man. He was no threat to the Inter defence.

Substitutes

Kalulu (3): Such an embarrassing error from him on the goal, especially since he was marking Lautaro two seconds earlier and then just left him completely free.

Origi (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him to give a rating.

Saelemaekers (N/A): We didn’t see enough of him to give a rating.

Krunic did fine, 5.5 to 6. Tonali a 6 too. The rest yeh, could agree.....Pioli should be 5 too if we can rate him..or 4.

This. Baffling how he did not make adjustments with Diaz's role during half time. First half was bad enough.

Berlusconi was right, back to attacare. Back to our home.

Kalulu can't be CB at Milan. Don't have body for CB .That is laughable.
Problem is, he isn’t exactly lighting it up at RB either. Just another capable rotation player

Well, that was a bad way to close the otherwise overperforming CL season. Semifinals in our second outing in the last 10 years is an accomplishment actually (don't get started about the lucky draw etc., it's all true but it still needed to be done).

Looking at the match today, I don't have much to say, the better team won and we played much cleverer than a week ago, I believe we lost the semifinal in the catastrophic first half of the first leg. For today, I blame Pioli for not making substitutions earlier, as it was visible we ain't getting anywhere with Messias and Diaz today.

Inzaghi has to be praised though, he completely closed our left side (Theo/Leao), leaving more space for Messias/Diaz who mostly operated without any success the whole game. Even with this, our two biggest chances came from Leao's solo run (maybe a handball also) and Tonali's pressure on Mhiktaryan on the recovered ball. When they were sitting deep, we couldn't do anything.

I read Maldini's interview and it's obvious he wants investment from the owners, and this time if we manage to qualify for CL at the expense of Juve's penalty points, there should be no excuses not to invest and reinforce the team.

Also, Boban had a good analysis of Diaz:
“He’s not a real 10. He’s a mix between a 10, a second striker and an wide player. He looks great in a great Milan in the last half hour, I think he can change many things because he’s eager. But can he lead the team as a 10…”

Basically, he should be a rotational player at max for Milan. He's a limited player with awful decision-making. Looking today, when he was able to get past his man in the first few steps, instead of looking for 1-2 with Giroud or Messias, he would always dribble himself into the next player, losing possession. Also, his finishing during the season was simply awful. In short words, a player to change the game, not a starter definitely. Then we still have to decide if to invest 25M into rotation players considering we have more pressing needs.

Messias is Serie A mid-team player, OK inexpensive solution during our transition years, but nothing more. To make the next step, he should be replaced.

One thing I don't agree with Maldini is Dybala: for cca 20M for a three-year contract, we would get the player who is a proven difference maker in Serie A, and with him in the team, I believe we would have already secured the top 4 spot, bringing calmness to our game.

This team is not garbage, nor it is a top 8 europe team yet. The reality is, we have a solid core with several top-class players (Maignan, Theo, Leao), several very good players (Tonali, Tomori, Bennacer), several good players with the potential to be very good/top class (Kalulu, Thiaw) and several squad players that can be part of the rotation in next year's Milan (Kjaer/Giroud as experienced players, Calabria as backup RB, Krunic as jack of all trades in slow tempo matches - certainly not a starter, Saelemaekers) and several unknowns such as CDK, Origi, Adli.

Issue is, it is evident we lack goalscoring power and quality upfront, I don't care if it's Arnautovic as 'poor people's Ibrahimovic of 2020', or Openda, Wahi, Okafor etc. We need to be smart and effective, because without Leao, nothing separates our attack from the likes of Bologna etc. This is why missing on a deal as Dybala last summer or Thuram this summer, a low-cost reinforcement that guarantees goals, is failure I don't think would happen if Boban is still around.

When you're not playing well, a quality player (example Leao) can invent something out of nothing and get you the points. In return, you get less pressure and calmness, having the ideal atmosphere to work and get through the rough patch. Milan on the other hand, don't have this and Pioli during the season didn't even bother to prepare for 'life without Leao', he failed to integrate every single new player and that, in addition to bad mercato last summer, might cost us at the end of the season.

Thing is he is lost playing in two position. Clearly not a CB. Can be more defansive RB, but we all have witness that he can cross beautifuly. Good coach would help him grow.

Literally 2 positives this entire season:

1) Renewing our core
2) Reaching CL SF. As easy as people say our journey was, we beat an EPL team and one of the best teams in Europe this season. Both ties at least half of our fans expected us to lose.

The rest? Oof
