paolo bless his heart was trying to give us one more glimpse of the salad days we experienced when he was still playing.
'american' investment firms aren't going into the red like silvio berlusconi did...there was a greater purpose in those days.
eternal salute for paolo maldini the greatest player in milan's history, his scudetto 21/22 victory as director the scudetto against time

Accounting wise, 160m on a players sale could technically fund a 800m mercato (in terms of transfer fees), assuming all players are brought in on 5 year deals.

Whether it’s paid in one or 160 installments is irrelevant to the P&L (assuming of course that additional funding via debt doesn’t need to be taken up to fund immediate cash requirements)
It can, but the teams selling players want money. Unless you manage to earn profits each year to service those transfer fees, your gonna have to pull some Barca levers to pay them off.
We don't have Barca levers.

Let's hope so brother star.

Let's certainly hope so.

Meanwhile, i have personally thanked Gerry on linkedin as the voice of milan fans for his patronage of milan and for taking the bold, necessary, and well thought out steps he did today. :proud:

Cardinale :proud:
Redbird and all of these vcs are following the city football group model of owning several clubs in different leagues and continents, no problem, do your thing Gerry. My only wish is for Redbird to treat Milan as the crown jewel of the Redbird sporting portfolio as we rightfully deserve. City football group have their granadas and nycfc’s, etc. but their primary/almost sole focus is on city. I want Redbird to treat Toulouse as a complete afterthought and focus on Milan. Then, Gerry and I will be the best of friends. If Redbird tries to run Milan exactly as Toulouse, we will have a major, major problem.

@General I never fully comprehended how Julius Caesar must have felt when Brutus, a man he thought of as a son, buried his dagger in his chest…

Until today…

… when I read your posts praising Cardinale for killing ‘Dini
General heel turn for almighty dollar was predictable but I am shocked

How do people feel about keeping Pioli on board now that Maldini is gone?

I was always in favor of replacing Pioli, now I’m more even more in favor.

Might as well go full reset of the sporting area including better athletic trainers/Physios.

I don’t Rafa or Theo are going to leave because they’re going to gravely miss Pioli’s dribble and figure it out good luck lol tactics
Obviously players play but you forget Rafa's quote just a few days ago.
- Why wouldnt these players agree a move if a big offer comes in now?

They need to move quickly now to show that things are definitely moving in a better direction right now.

Interesting times.

Thats only possibly Ibra

Whats going to happen though when Moncada goes for his players and we still cant close them because SD's dont give us the time of day because he isnt Maldini or Galliani?
Dial the next tier down and then the next one like we have been doing?

We have to hope that the reports of Massara overruling Moncada were true or its going to be an ugly summer.
bro, brugge's sd made a mockery of maldini when he made him do several roundtrips, and it took another flight to switzerland (summit) to close the deal

if anything, and especially during gazidis' time, the club has shown it has valuations on any player and will not exceed it by a penny. we have probably missed out on many a players in the past because of it but our cautiousness has also made us get more bangers than flops since if you don't spend/spend frugally you're also less likely to lose.

maldini during last summer was dragged on the nose regarding cdk and we lost both on time and money. moncada presumably is the one to estimate the valuation, so why would any sd laugh him off/ won't make the time of day when he comes up to him with a fair offer/offer that is within our standards? if it isn't to the rival club's satisfaction, we continue on.

spoiler alert- sd's have laughed maldini off as well in the past, that is the fault of having a moneyball plan which we unfortunately do.

I don't think you need to know the culture and social intricacies of AC Milan to know that if you fire the general manager of the team, who is your club's greatest player, who delivered the first title in over a decade, who all the fans trust... you're going to be put into a really big clusterfuck of a situation.

The possibility of lost revenue from fans, from players not agreeing with the decision, to worsening performance is huge. This is a very risky choice that they're taking right now.

They are making a massive bet. And if you're making this decision over interviews, then you have to win.

You want to make it about "oh well, they're going to turn us into Dortmund" that's your whole point.

You think Milan fans, after tasting success again, renewing world-class players, having Maldini lead them out... they're going to accept... 2nd-4th place finishes now?

It's a terrible strategy. You'd do better looking like you're "trying" but just "oops it didn't work" then what they just did.

They either have to start spending serious money, to get fans to forget Maldini, or if you want to do your little "data driven Comolli bullshit" then you have to win. There's no way around it.

Redbird look like fucking inept morons.
Hard to tell what will happen. I agree that RedS**t has to win something to avoid frustrating fans even more (which would be bad for business). But ... will they? And, if so, what will they do? Most likely, they are not going to invest heavily, but they may be more open to selling players if that helps them raise funds (that includes player we would rather see at Milan). While it is not in RedS**t interest to run us like Udinese, I think we will see players getting sold. So, perhaps, the question is who can they sell that can generate cash without impacting the team too much. CDK? Adli? Kalulu? Or will it go deeper ... Maignan?

I think thats slightly different - yes they laughed them off but at least the door was open.
Moncada may not be able to open the door on certain players and will obviously move on to lesser and lesser profiles if the strategy is dime a dozen players.

I fully agree with you regarding CDK but do you think a no-name exec could pull Theo?

Insubordination leads to insurrection. Paulo inadvertently started one against his superiors Indirectly by asking for investment. Sadly this would be the end result.

Had we won the title or reached finals of ucl, maybe he would have had a better standing ground.
