You take that back, infidel
Why? He is free to join whoever he pleases. I wish him the best.
Forza Maldini.

He might even go to Inter for all we know.

They trust in Pioli who doesn't even understand his own tactics.
I've said it a few times, it's the only way to maintain squad harmony and trust

I don't expect him to last. I can imagine Furlani and Moncada will be pretty frustrated with his failure to maximize new signings because he's very limited tactically

Will probably play the same role as Gattuso when Elliot first came on

Went to bed last night after the initial madness. 1000 posts over night.

After catching up and as a long time lurker before I started posting, I have to say I'm really surprised with General's posts on this.

Again, name me one SD who doesn't sign a flop here and there? This is madness. Can't wait for us to be sold in the near future. Maldini doesn't deserve this. This club is a family always has been. We can't start making decisions like this. These guys are frauds. Where's the stadium deal? Get out of here!

When I woke up this morning, there were 2 things I did not expect to happen: 1) Maldini getting shitcanned 2)@papaberlu back aboard the Pioli train

But here we are. Life came at us real fast today.

Which general? G unit general or the hedge fund manager that lurks here? The latter is a ruthless machine. It's either perform or perish with him.

Too bad our management is toothless.

I’ve been trying to get my thoughts together on this decision while avoiding emotional or reactionary posting.

BUT

I’m not sure I see the logic in it and my initial reaction is that it is very short-sighted.

We did not win trophies this year, but the season was still a success by every other measure, especially the measures an American PE company would normally prioritize. Revenue grew, expenses declined, we will be one of the only large clubs in Europe to post a profit. All 3 of those measures can be attributed in large part to Maldini’s work over the last several years: He has cut our largest cost (wages) while dramatically improving our performance on the pitch - resulting in revenue growth (Gazidis deserves credit as well obviously).

Yes, we didn’t win, but again this is sports and no one just wins year after year, especially as early into a project as we are. We won the Scudetto a year ago, Maldini built that team and hired the manager. We went to the CL SF this year and finished top 4 again. Financially, we accomplished our base level goal (top 4) and generated a windfall with progression to the semi-final.

It’s short-sighted if the decision was made because we didn’t win a title. Looking at the bigger picture, Maldini has generated incredible results, almost impossible truth be told. It’s a huge mistake to make a change based on this one season, just like I argued all year that discarding Pioli after 1 rough season didn’t make sense.

Americans don’t care that Maldini is a legend, I get that. It’s business, not personal. Got it. But it reeks of bad business to me.

My best guess is that Cardinale wanted to pull the trigger last year after Maldini went to Gazzeta and demanded authority. He absolutely couldn’t fire Maldini then from a PR perspective, so he gave him a year and the on field failures gave him the cover he wanted to make a move.
There is more to this than "not winning a title". There was a fundamental difference in philosophy coming from a charismatic leader. The situation was not going to work long term. As I see it, "not winning the title" opened the door for Cardinale to do something he was probably planning to do anyway.

They've removed their margin for error with their actions. If they're in a spot where they have to fire Pioli, then they're in deep shit.

so before we start looking at potential players to sign, we have to look for people who will sign said players and ones that will actually keep the team competitive while doing so.

The other X factor in all of this is Pioli. Wtf are they doing with him, and will anyone ever understand his tactics and the players he actually needs

And now that Milan fans have tasted victory again, they're not going to settle for top four.

The same narrative surrounding the supposed intelligence of Todd Boehly at Chelsea last year is emerging here with Redbird.

I thought Redbird were different because they were keeping their management in place.

Redbird are showing themselves to be incompetent. I would love to be wrong and eat crow, but I'm sorry, these aren't the choices of some "dispassionate business." This is taking on even more risk in a volatile industry with money that isn't yours.

Eh. As long as it isn't a disastrous summer and Milan can retain Leao and Mike they should still achieve top 4. And keeping the players together is where Pioli comes into play, I don't expect him to have more than a transitionary role unless there are some drastic improvements. So financially it isn't deep shit

A lot easier to rectify a manager than a director who you don't trust over a mercato

Last summer already set the club back a bit as it is

I wonder if Maldini himself will make any sort of statement. Knowing him he's probably gonna speak to our stars personally and tell them calma.

If Moncada for some reason would fail in this new role that he has never worked in. It's more than just scouting, something we all knows he excels in, you really think he would go back to just scouting for Milan? This club would be in deep shit, possible year zero again in one or two years.

I must admit some of our targets… Arnautovic and Loftus-Cheek… what were we doing?

I love General, he's one of the commode gems but i will never forgive him for turning his back on the great Paulo Maldini in this manner😔

As much as General loves this club forum, he is an american venture capitalist at heart so naturally his loyalties lay with the balance sheets 🫠

I see redturd is already turning the positivity force, which is no easy feat. Are we all now united as the "neggars"?

This guy was onto something. Nobody listened to him. Predicted this back in May 17. How the heck did you know?
I know nothing, don't give me importance, but i can tell you that i also heard that a girl who works for Milan press office is married to a Gazzetta journalist and this girl has been hired by Maldini and the ownership did not like this choice at all
