Ceaser was great and a genius but declaring himself 'dictator for life', when he really didn't need to totally sealed his death.

It's also ironic that out of the so called liberators only Brutus was genuine at heart about serving the republic, the rest of the assasinators were self-serving oligarchs who had personal motives for the betrayal of Ceasar.
Things haven't really changed 2000 years later in the modern world, people's predatory behavioral patterns are pretty much the same in politics and buisness.

What a tortured imperial reign he endured. In recent years, I’ve come to believe that the most impressive feat by the Romans was surviving the challenges that began under Marcus Aurelius (plagues and Barbarians at the gates) and continued through the Crisis of the 3rd Century.

Incredible men like Marcus Aurelius and a slew of Illyrians (Aurelian being my favorite) saved the empire and allowed it to continue for centuries in the west and nearly a thousand years in the east.
I recommend you should also check out the Eastern Roman Empire. They had some great challenges and by the great deeds of great men the held it together for another 1000 years.

Theres 2 great podcasts that I highly recommend if you have time;
The History of Rome - Mike Duncan
The History of Byzantium - Robin Pierson

This project still requires PATIENCE, but the fans and management seemed to run out of patience this year. CDK and Adli were expected to perform THIS SEASON despite being young and coming to a difficult league from far inferior leagues.

There is still a chance CDK, Adli, and Thiaw can develop into stars, Thiaw already looks like one. Adli and CDK can make that jump honestly. You could argue the same for Vranckx.

The Scudetto kind of sped up the timeline… we need to remain patient, because investing in prospects 1) Does not always work (Haugue) and 2) Doesn’t always pay off immediately (Tonali)

#Repubblica: Giorgio #Furlani informed former technical director Paolo #Maldini last week that the summer budget would be 35 million euros, plus the proceeds from player sales.

Something many of the terrible emperors have in common is youth. CDK couldn’t handle the pressure of Milan calcio at 22, imagine being given the reigns to the Roman Empire as a teenager with unlimited wealth, debauchery, and in someone like Nero’s case almost no connection to reality.

The emperors also tend to be slandered by the Senatorial class, who basically wrote or contributed to most of the histories that have come down to us. So, it’s hard to know how terrible they truly were.
True, did my final paper on Marcus Aurelius and stoicism, and the upper class often took down emperors that weren't favorable to them in the annals of history. Nero's actions were probably filled with vain and self grandeur but also were highly exaggerated.

But to put a joke into it, senatore defaming a young star is exactly what happened with sacchi and cdk.

I’m on like my 5th run through of Mike Duncan’s History of Rome.

I started The History of Byzantium but didn’t get far because of life. I will revisit after I’m done with Rome.

And absolutely yes, I am aware very loosely that there are generals and emperors in Byzantium Rome that rival the greatest generals in the Roman Republic/Imperial eras.

I would start a History and Milan podcast tonight if it would set me free of corporate America. I can’t be part of a system that destroyed Maldini any longer.

Damn, this guy is like the 2023 Mercato version of hitman
I like it and I like that he doesn’t provide sources. I don’t want to know the sources anymore. Just chaos.

he failed one mercato, and did great in another 5,
why are you conveniently mentioning just the one?
Because its the one that followed after forcing his way on the ones who are paying his salary.

Pioli specifically didn't play CDK on the RW when every Belgian coach and expert said that is where he should play.

Pioli's tactics required a passer at CAM, and he had one of the most creative young players in Europe in Adli and played him 144 minutes in total. Did Maldini force Brahim to play as the CAM no matter what?

You're telling me Vranckx was a Maldini choice but Thiaw was a Moncada choice then? Maldini is suddenly fixated on the Italian market only, but for some reason has an obsession with Brugge and the captain of the Belgian u21 team?

Or maybe Pioli is an incompetent moron?

Like, I'm sorry they're giving more credence to Pioli who suddenly isn't at fault for his demonstrable incompetence.

And yes, I'm aware of Billy Beane's theories about soccer unfortunately. He helped AZ, where... an ugly Hungarian LB plays.

I can't wait for the brilliance of Beane and Pioli to combine together to bring the next Vranckx for Pioli to masterfully sit on the bench, and blame Maldini for it.
Hey man

You just converted to Pioli out

I was born in it

We both know why he is hanging around, he's willing to play ball and Maldini wasn't

Enter Commodus, who had every opportunity and the greatest man to emulate and become a noble ruler. He was so bad and debauched that it is really the only bad stain on the great Marcus Aurelius' life and legacy.

Those self-serving senators did my boys Domitian and Gallienus real dirty...
The biggest failure of Marcus aurelius' lifetime was probably handing down the reign for nepotism reasons rather than by merit like before him during the 5 good kings

Hearing maignan definitely wants out.

You think gerry would reach out to the players but he's probably back in LA working on his tan.
Gerry does not and will not have a connection with the players, this is a company hierarchy with a trickle down structure. Gone are the days of attacare. Gordon singer came to see games like milan-empoli because he genuinely loves the team, gerry came to 1 cl match and to the last match just to fire Maldini.

If reports are true that he will be more present and hands on next year he has an uphill battle to fight.
