That's nice and all, but what if you go spend it on shit like Maldini did last summer and they don't play? Is Gerry going to ok giving you more money?
The rejection of Zaniolo and penniless winter mercato should've been the first indication to Paolo that his job was at risk...

Based on what other than your mood? The more I hang around RnB the more I understand how easy it is to start a war.
Based on common sense ?
As soon as Moncada took over & he is after those two.

Tonight, I graduate from my fellowship training in Neuro-critical care. I started this fellowship in 2020, when COVID was at it's worst. I've had many ups and downs, wintnessed more deaths than anyone should see in a lifetime, and have learned so much about life and grown as a person as a result.

Last year was an especially challenging but rewarding year, which culminated with an important personal milestone, as well as my beloved team winning their first Serie A in 11 years. So, treated myself and bought the special edition 9th scudetto watch to remember that time. I have nicer watches, but this will be the watch I wear for my graduation.

It says a lot when despite a crazy few years with many ups and downs, that our 19th scudetto was still one of the major highlights of my life.

Honestly the way things are going right now I think we could be in line for a Mirabellend style revolution with a dozen or so players leaving and being replaced. For example, you could sell both Messias + Salad for 15m and use the money to sign Zhegrova and add Bouanani for just a few million extra.

Because like I said earlier, I'd be shocked if most of these players are still on the roster next season bar a handful e.g. Mirante, Pobega + Krunic.

Tata, Mirante, BT, Dest, Florenzi, Gabbia, Baka, Pobega, Krunic, Vranckx, Ibra (too old), Rebic, Origi, Messias, CDK (Dybala was free!)
The following are gone for sure:
Tata
Dest
Baka
Vranckx
Ibra

I would be surprised if we replace Dest, because we have so many needs. Upgrading Calabria has to happen, the rest of our guys are serviceable RB backups (Calabria, Kalulu, Florenzi).

We already replaced Tata and will I assume attempt to replace Baka, Ibra, and Vranckx.

Gabbia, Miranre, and Pobega stay as rotational/homegrown players.

The following should all be placed on the market if Pioli doesn’t want them:
Rebic
Messias
CDK
Origi

I defended him a ton but how can you not play Adli at all when your attack is duller than a butter knife? how does it take you forever to remove Bennacer from anchor and you cant sharpen your squad up when they all go walkabout for practically an entire season - All he could say is 'Yes we understand the moment' and 'I know the problems' only to get spanked again.
Pioli probably wanted to fail Maldini.
That bald mofo turn out to be such a conspirator

I believe he is still under contract for a few more years. He probably doesn't want to lock in long term if he isn't going to be given a shot at the 1st team. He'll go elsewhere.
He's got two years left on his deal...I wonder if Moncada promotes him to the first team this summer as a show of faith (like Daniel) to see whether he can get some minutes and be convinced to renew.

The only transfer for some amount of money was CDK for 32 mil plus bonus. And the Origi transfer was quite bad. Personally, I don't care that much if it's Maldini that builds a super strong team for Milan or it's Moncada who does it. If the ownership thinks Moncada can do a better job then fine.

I'm talking about Maldini's idea to build a strong team from now vs Redshit wanting to wait till 2028 when the stadium might be ready! That idea of building a strong team without waiting can also be done with Moncada in charge. However it seems that Redshit just want to do a few cheap transfers and aren't really interested in making Milan a top European club.

I think you guys are reading too much into this "sudden change" to be honest, connecting dots about "Pioli didn't use these players, that came in when Maldini took over!" I'll tell you why: Yacine Adli.

Adli might have joined the squad last year but he was bought two years ago, during the magical "transfer times" which seems to be the new "post-lockdown utopia" but for transfers.

Maybe Pioli is actually an incompetent who doesn't even understand how to maximize his own system? Or worse? What he actually wants to do is... bad?
Starred this because it was so obvious Adli was purchased before so that is a glaring issue with that narrative of freezing out players he didnt want.

Maybe he was just jealous of his hair?

Look you don't need to convince me Pioli is a moron, I agree with you

But if we simply agree that the last mercato is a write-off, Adli looks like an outlier. I mean as shit as Salad is even he got ample chances under Pioli

If he doesn't deliver I do think he will be out. Toulouse is reportedly sacking their coach despite their success because redshit isn't satisfied with the progress, I can't imagine Pioli will have too long a leash but there's enough there to justify giving him another chance

I'm literally watching Moneyball right now and some of these scenes must have been literally taken out of Casa Milan.

God is that a good movie.
They're planning to make a sequel after the end of next season. Moneyball 2: The Italian Job.

Why the heck do you think they brought the actual Billy Beane to Milan, eh?:ibralol:

This is Gerry's first step for Milan into the Entertainment Industry.

I don't see kjaer staying next year sadly, goes against youth project and isn't good for the lists like gabbia

Pioli fields him as 3rd/4th cb and thiaw has cemented his place next year after this season. Don't see the moncada method mixing youth and veterans like Maldini's vision.
Kjaer would be nice to keep around for his leadership and experience

but when he started complaining about lack of play time and the incidents towards the end of the season

wouldn't surprise me if he moves on

It could also show how miserly Cuntinale and Redshit are. They could have gotten Furlani to buy a player in winter and make him available for Pioli.

RedBird isn’t here for sporting success, so they don’t care about building a top team for any reason other than the fact that our revenue will grow substantially as a result. Look at the report earlier that Milan’s brand increased dramatically in the last year.

Unlike Elliott, RedBird doesn’t have the capital to make Milan a top side with experienced signings like Maldini wanted. They have to invest smarter, utilizing a combination of operating profits and sales to achieve that goal.

You’ve got to accept that fact, man. It is what it is. Maldini couldn’t accept it and it got him killed.

Nope, because here’s the thing that I’ve said multiple times: they know not all prospects will hit.

Ballo Toure is an easy example of this. They know very well that when you don’t spend a lot on hidden gems, sometimes they won’t work. I too believe in Adli’s talent to an extent but for now I put him in this category. Adli was definitely a scouting find, not a maldini purchase, I think that’s really obvious. In fact Maldini probably didn’t even know who he was. Just because an individual player doesn’t work out doesn’t make him some gotcha, because he was signed prior to 2022 summer. Adli isn’t the only player signed before then to fail lol.

I would have a bigger issue with signing players like Bakayoko, Florenzi, and Origi then paying low money for a young player with some talent that may or may not work.

And remember Sam, I’m putting Maldini and Pioli in the same boat. I’m not willing to overlook 3 years of really good growth for one bad season. For Pioli or Maldini. I do think rather than nitpicking singular players as part of Maldini or Moncada failure/success, it does seem to be that maybe Maldini changed the operating of the club. He asked for more power, we know that, good or bad he asked for more autonomy. And the people around him didn’t like it and want to get back to the way things were from 2019-2021.

Like you said, they need to make it work this season or else it’s a huge failure. The ONE good thing about all of this is that it seems their collective vision is back. Whether or not Maldini was right(he may have been), it’s definitely better for the coach/management team/owner to be in sync. There’s no way that’s not true. We had that for about 3 seasons and it ended with going from 6th to 2nd to 1st. I still believe in the potential of this team and a shared vision is a good thing.

It's possible although I wonder whether they decide to cash in on Gabbia + Pobega for 100% capital gains and reinvest the money in better players for a similar fee or less e.g. Ndicka + Hjulmand. Obviously there's the homegrown lists to worry about but we've got the likes of Colombo + Maldini returning  and must have one or two youngsters in the Primavera who can be promoted to the first team given all the investment.

Also
Consulting with him and give him more of a decision making role after the scudetto when he got leao, theo, maignan and the rest of the gang without any input? And magically gelled them into the squad successfuly.

Sounds to me like the only reason why the 'pioli has earned the right to be consulted' narrative has legs is because Maldini fumbled the summer transfers when if only he would get hits like previous summers no one would think about giving Pioli more responsibility.
