People say it was luck running out are being simplistic and futile. It is not that simple. Something broke. It maybe Allegri fault for letting it happen but still it’s clear the collapse was more external factors than just teams ‘figuring’ us out or luck running out.

I push back on the "something (suddenly) broke" narrative because the warning signs were there in December after crashing out of Coppa and Supercopa, when we were still unbeaten in Serie A and people were celebrating after the lucky Como-win in January like we'd already won something. A few of us were already arguing that the margin between winning and losing was razor thin, that we were being figured out and that the style of play was unsustainable. We got told to stop moaning.

The collapse was always coming. The margin was just so narrow that as long as the fine details kept going our way, the results held up. The moment they stopped, there was nothing underneath to absorb it. No tactical flexibility, no alternative plan, no way to grind through a rough patch with something other than hope. And when the negative snowball started rolling, there was nothing to stop it becoming the desastrous avalanche we've witnessed in the last couple of weeks.

Missing out on the CL sucks balls. But in all honesty, we'd just be making up the numbers. Looking at how this sqiad is assembled and most of all, how Allegri set us up....we have no realistic chance of being competitive. It would be surprising if we even got into the playoff round. And along the way, we'd be at serious risk of being embarrassed by a real team.
