When I first heard of the new pope, Leo XIV, I thought they meant Leao but guess he was not in the running.
These papal elections must have been rigged because the big favorite was an Italian while Leo was never mentioned among the papables. The last Italian pope John Paul I only lasted one month before dying under suspicious circumstances on Sept 28, 1978. Since then we had a Polish, a German, an Argentinian, and now an American after over 400 years of Italians. Wonder if the CIA was nvolved...
I don't want to get into politics or anything, so I apologize:

Pope Francis elevated 108 of 133 Cardinals, which is about 80% of the eligible voters, and Leo was a prominent member from that faction.

The Church is trying to appeal to different parts of the world, those two factors seem to be the biggest reasons.

Vincenzo Italiano is a profile that Milan hold in high regard for the post-Sergio Conceicao. Geoffrey Moncada is betting big on Riccardo Orsolini and has also put the two central defenders Sam Beukema and John Lucumi under the magnifying glass. [Longo]
Moncada will remain here? :fp:

Just remember Keane left his Irish comrades ar the 2002 wc and they still reached the knockout phase

Kean was at united for over a decade...reached 1 ucl final....once he left they went onto reach 3 in 4 years 😳

Keane isn't fit to lace Vieiras boots.

Yeah, I saw that after reading about him. Many believed that the church wanted to move back to a more traditional and conservative role for a new pope while Francis among other things expressed empathy for gays and atheists that some saw as a step too far.

^^true... but he wanted 7m
Yeah, it was too soon to give him that kind of money but Fassobelli caved in to Raiola on their first contract and the price was always gonna go up. In retrospect it was Miha's fault for promoting him too quickly and would have been better to keep him with the youth squads a little longer.

Dolla's biggest issue when he was here was always that he couldn't play the ball with his feet.

Haven't watched him in years, but if he's improved on that aspect since then, he should be decent.
He's a bit better in that respect, but his shot blocking ability is world class. I think this has been his best season at PSG that at some point benched him for his mistakes.

In the end Donna’s greed and annual game of more demands and his agent fees was always going to be a problem.

There were so many factors in the saga that was Milan and Donna. Would it have been better to sell? of course. As it would have been with Hakan and Kessie but no clubs were bidding.

This conversation could go on an infinite loop (it has been on that loop) but the outcome will always end the same way. As will the pattern of how it came to pass.

They made a huge plusvalenza and replaced him with Dumfries at a much lower cost, one of the many smart transitions made by Marotta. Dumfries is probably worth at least 50 million after his billiant performance in the semis.

We need players that have the fire

The fire to win again

Inter is able to extract every little ounce from their players

Why can’t we?

That’s why u need a top coach and good management

Inter will play against Hakimi in the finals.

Why did they sell him? Are they stupid?
Zhangy boi was in massive debt, he had to sell a couple of players to make his Oaktree repayment requirements. Hakimi and Lukaku were the sacrifices. It tided their finances for the next two seasons before they were forced to sell off Onana and Pinammonti and Bozovic (and let Skrinniar go for free).

They were running on fumes all the way until Zhangy boi defaulted.

But the one thing that they did well in all that time, is that they never stopped trying to bring in good players on loan with option to buy (something they copied from Paolo).

Honestly, even if we are able to afford 20M-40M players nowadays, I still don't see why we completely stopped that policy of trying out talents for cheap. Closest we have in this day and age is Jimenez.

Exactly you want players who understand what Milan is and what it means to represent Milan.
It starts with everyone being on the same page having the same directive and having clear ambitions.

Not this scatterbrained approach by the current management, their coaching choices and their precious “algorithm” based revolutionary concept.

Modernity is important of course but you don’t cast out all previous and proven working models just because of your modern algorithm or concept.

It is the equivalent of needlessly re-engineering the wheel. The most concerning thing is I fear the current management are likely to make many of the same errors again. Thinking they are actually reinventing the game and succeeding at it.

When they clearly are not.

I think KDB can succeed in the Pirlo-journey, moving from AM to DM (regista) or, if you want a modern, more infuriating version.. he who is currently bossing our neighbors midfield.

KDB’s reading of the game is second to very few, the tempo is not as pacey as in the PL since the players in Italy use their brain more.

I was thinking about PSG and the champions they had like Messi, Mbappe, and Neymar that never won in Europe, evidence that a collection of super-stars does not make a team despite their individual brilliance.

Today with a very good coach and players that actually sacrifice and have good chemistry they're in the CL final.
Kvara always impresses me with his work rate and defensive play that in the semi almost scored a fantastic goal that hit the post but played more LB than LW so his defensive contribution was instrumental in the win. Well worth the 75 mil PSG paid for him. People scoff when I write that I prefer him to Leao but he's better in many aspects of the game, including shooting, passing, defending, and obviously a harder worker.

Then Fabian Ruiz bought from Napoli that solidifies their midfield even if not flashy, and players like Dembele`, Vitinha, Barcola, Doue`, Hakimi, Marquinhos. It's a solid group of very good players but nobody dominating or playing as individuals which is what they did before. It started when they hired Campos to run the mercato and let go of Leonardo that the molding of a real team and not just a bunch of big names began. If our Milan execs are even paying attention, it should be a lesson of how to create a functioning team based on who best fits a certain system.
