Asian preference for light skin is rooted in their own tradition, it's unrelated to Europeans
People with tanned skin were historically perceived as ''lower/working class'' because they were outside doing menial jobs
That's the root as to why they even wear a lot of clothes in their steamy hot summers, which on an unrelated note the more sunlight you get the more DNA damage that can occur so they accidentally protected themselves from that
