We have been a middling, inconsistent turd of a team for almost 20 years. Our ascendent years most of you chucklefucks weren't even around for, myself included. It's cool to regurgitate wikipedia knowledge and "back in my day" bullshit, but if you can't see the club for what it is and has been, then that's your fault.

I used to be teased for watching Serie B religiously way back, but it taught me some perspective. I understand there's glamor in watching a team like ours that has historically put up some of the greatest teams of all time. I get it. Good football is almost always more enjoyable watch. But watching lower level play is instructive. Hell, I'll grind some second division Scottish football just because it's on Paramount+. If you watch a lot of football, I think you'll realize that our level is not at the very top, but that doesn't mean we're in the gutter, or that we're doomed for Banter because we're going for used-to-be world class or almost-world class players. Allegri's resume on paper is as good as few other managers in our history. One can critique his football, but the results speak for themselves, which is why we've taken the punt on seeing if that's still true.

I'll conclude my rant by saying that when I read comments like "Theo is worse than Mesbah and Taiwo" or that Xhaka is a Bertolacci-tier fodder, I'm lost for words. I must be being trolled. We can't be watching the same sport.
