i have a nice laptop but it wont support win11 & support for win10 is to be discountined. a friend said LM isnt command based but interface like Windows. I figure id try it.

You can always install Windows LTSC (google it if you are unfamiliar with it), it bypasses hardware requirements and you receive updates practically indefinitely. I run Windows 11 LTSC on 3 of my rigs, while only 1 can "officially" support it. You can find versions with less bloatware, versions with only key features etc. Was a lifesaver for me, bc I just couldn't get into Mint or other Linux-based distros... And it wasn't for a lack of trying, I'll tell you that.
