Pippa also was a great finisher and good with headers. His high iq to be at the right place at the right time plus combo of movement and timing of his runs made him lethal. Not a complete forward but if you have good passers behind him he would be devastating.

Like haaland without the speed but Pippa had much higher iq and better off the ball movement. And Pippo was a far better big game player. Not choker like haaland.

Of course it is, but it's a well reasoned one.

I think outside of the personal opinions theres some really good info there. It quantifies and confirms what many were already thinking. Leaos rare combination of skills and attributes is why people cant deny his talent and potential. But also he has a low defensive work rate even amongst his peers which makes people call him lazy. Not just that but even when gets into good positions to score, hes not an elite shooter (low shot placement). In theory those should be things that can be learned and trained, or at least thats the dream that is often sold. But unless he improves either end product or defensive workrate, he wont break into the argument of being a world beater.

But Allegri is not playing that game. He's not going to be like Pioli or Conceicao or Fonseca, shouting at Leao to get back to track the fullbacks, or to praise him whenever he hustles and presses and tries to win the ball back.

Allegri accepts Leao for who he is, and wants to unleash the superpower he has without caring about the negative side. That's entirely the reasoning behind our switch to 352. It's literally all about putting Leao in a position where he's an asset and not a liability. We defend in a way that doesn't care what Leao is doing, and attack by maximizing his superpowers.

Allegri wants Leao to basically forget about defending. Maybe annoy the CBs with a light press, but that's it. He won't waste his energy. Out of possession, Leao will try to find spaces attack once we win possession and then burst forward as the outball, hopefully with the other CF helping him create space, or bouncing a direct ball into his path.

Once we have the ball and are camped in the final third, Leao will shift to his favorite left side zone and try to beat his man for a cross or a shot, while someone else is in the box waiting to finish the chances he creates.

Allegri wants the Leao that runs the entire length of the pitch during quick transitions. He wants the Leao that can beat his man over and over again on the left wing in sustained possession. He does NOT want a Leao that is in our third, blocking crosses and tracking overlaps by fullbacks.

Yeah I agree, playing in a front two is a good solution. Low defensive workrate is far more common place for SS/ST.

Plus overall with Allegri we’re expected to be scoring less, so i dont think many will care if his output isnt that high. At that point youre not sacrificing much to keep him on the pitch.

RLC if he's not scoring is frustrating. He slows the game down when the team is on the break (helping our opponents), he dribbles into alleys, and doesn't pass the ball when he should.

Few deny RLC's talent, he has all the tools to be an insane player.

But we talk about him the same way you'd talk about a youth player with potential. He's 29.

His lack of defensive contribution, in particular his lazy tracking/marking in corners, set pieces, and crosses is hardly covered--he was at fault for PSG's goal in his supposed super performance in that game.

If he scores 15 goals, that would be great, but he seems insistent on not learning how to pass, connect play, or track--things that are kinda important for a midfielder.
