I think of it as more of paying 5 mil as an implicit cost for a suitable long term backup instead of dealing with the protracted cost of keeping Tata in goal until mike’s return. Everything doesn’t have to be an explicit cost. Enduring this much damage (potentially not qualifying for ucl) over 5m is beyond unnecessary and outright stupid.

I still believe in CDK, reasons for which I all think we saw today. If he can still become a very good player for us I don't see how the mercato was such a failure by Paolo. What I do agree with you is that we have a flawed squad with too many maybes currently looking like maybe nots.

I don’t think it was such a failure on its own. But coupled with Pioli’s failure to incorporate new players quickly and the overall spiraling out of our form, it definitely has to be under examine that he spent so much on CdK. I understand this isn’t really “fair” for any of them but it’s just the nature of how things go.

Regarding Pioli, I felt like we could have at least waited until March or so to offer the extension but I’ve been explained the thought process and I agree overall.

And at the very least makes 350k for Vasquez looks like a “let’s throw shit at the wall and see if it sticks” type of moves. If we are going for these hail Mary’s, we have more desperate positions to try them at
