There were MANY of us ringing those alarm bells a looong time now. The scudetto was like a big bandage that masked all of our GLARING deficiencies

I won’t even talk about RW because it’s like saying a dude in a wheelchair can’t walk.

We only have one style…and even then we still rely heavily on Leao and Theo.

In reality both of them have gone quiet because reasons and the entire fucking team collapsed. If we had more viable attackers or *gasp* players competing for their spot - then the collapse would NEVER have been this dramatic. Fuck something quite similar is happening at CB.

All the positivity force nonsense and “lol Barcelona” bullshit has come back to core out our asses.

WE LITERALLY HAD PPL LAUGHING AT OTHER TEAMS FOR SIGNING EXPENSIVE PLAYERS AS IF THAT WAS DUMB!!!

This is a cluster fuck of epic proportions.

I can’t believe we didn’t bring in a backup goalie and starting DM on the 1st of January.

These 2 alone would have helped so much. As many people said, we are one Tonali/Bennacer injury/suspension/fatigue away form disaster.

I get giving Vranckx and Pobega a chance in the first half of the season, but if they aren’t up for it - we obviously needed another CM. 3 man mid makes this requirement even more glaringly obvious

All hands on deck now, not getting top 4 with Juve out of the picture is completely unacceptable.

Seeing that 3 man mid without Bennacer made me puke

Also if we play 433 and play Messias over CDK, man oh man. This is literally the perfect setup for CDK to thrive in, in the center-right channel

If Leao and inshallah ain’t working, what can Pioli provide? I hated CDK before but i’ve seen the light. Pioli is just a limited coach who can’t coordinate a play to score against a 10-man Torino nobodies.

Milan need a coach who can motivate players right now, and Gattuso is the right profile for it. It is not coincidence that Milan and probably Napoli this season win the scudetto after Gattuso coached their players.

Honestly helping young players grow and improve with some basic tactics that work is probably more important than 4D chess inverted full back type stuff for the present and future of this team.

I can agree that some young players we brought in recently might not be up to the mark but currently Pioli is making Maldini and Massara look bad, as if the young talent they brought it are complete duds or overspends.

Is Pioli the right man to integrate, coach, and develop young players into future starting 11 and potentially world class players? Honestly, hard to say. He’s been great with Theo, Leao, and to an extent Kalulu. But he’s been horrible with almost everyone else - Kerkez, Thiaw, CDK, Adli, Vranckx, Lazetic, Chaka.

The trend here is that 1)Pioli plays young players only when there is no one else available and that 2)Unless they are a generational talent like Theo/Leao, he hasn’t really been able to take a rough diamond and mould them into a consistent performing player. Adli is the best example of this, dude is obviously talented.

In conclusion, if we are going to continue on a path of scouting/buying/developing young players (which I think is the only viable way forward), Pioli’s body of work suggests that he’s not the right person to lead us

I’m thinking a 4-3-3 where the left Mezzala is Tonali and all he does is cover lateral and vertical space behind Leao/Theo

It’ll be a bit wonky but I can’t think of another way to make Theo and Leao work in the same team. And obviously we don’t want to ask Theo to start playing conservative

The other obvious solution is a 352, with Leao as a SS. But that would require a fundamental rethink on literally everything

Fortunately, I think that's the plan we're going for. Maybe not against Inter, since Bennacer is out and Tonali will play anchor, but once he's back it will most likely be Tonali on the left, Bennacer deep in the middle, and Krunic (or Vranckx?) on the right side.

We suddenly have 4 or 5 players now fighting for that single RW spot.
