too many great players to list but if pushed all time favorite player: Maldini
Is the premier league and their spending power a problem that needs fixing or is it up to our league and the other big leagues to get better?

Wonder where the game is in 5 years time.
It’s a combination of the two. A lot of other leagues don’t have the marketing of the EPL so they find they cannot compete financially. But this is also on the leagues themselves with greater organisation and cooperation with each other they would be in a much stronger position financially and in terms of marketing.

Elliot won’t get off ac milan until they get back everything they spent on the club + more

Didn’t we all read the same reports?? Elliot didn’t want a fixed price for milan. They wanted new buyers to pay for the clubs potential growth too (building a new stadium) etc

I see no difference between gerry and yonhong li… eventually if he doesn’t get enough investors to maintain the club/pay for the loan, then Elliot will overtake the club yet again

Saudi wealth fund PIF leads investment in $800m Middle East infrastructure fund

Aberdeen and Investcorp announced the fund two years ago with a view to channel investment into the Middle East’s health care, education and utilities industries

The Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund chaired by the Crown Prince, has agreed to commit up to a fifth of a planned $800m Middle East infrastructure fund being established by Aberdeen Standard Investments and Investcorp.

They scouted Julian Alavarez. Elliott only gave them 4-5 mil for Lazetic. The also scouted Botman and Enzo F. Again not enough funds available.

CDK could still become v good like Leao, Tonali. And Origi, Florenzi, Giroud were super cheap / free transfers. Elliott were spending more when Milan bought Theo, Bennacer, Leao...
Aha , so Redbird released 35mil to sign CDK & only 5mil to sign Alvarez/Enzo/Botman ?
It was never that Maldini had +35mil & he decided to buy the obvious wrong player ?
You guys will pull trees out of your asses just to avoid holding MMM accountable for things that clearly are their duties.

PIF investing in an Investcorp fund. How does this mean PIF has anything to do with Investcorp’s Milan bid?

They weren't directly involved in the bid. PIF are investors in Investcorp. At the sametime PIF is investing heavily in sport including golf, football, car racing, winter sports....etc.

Now lets say PIF wants to get even more involved in European Football and their buddies in Investcorp already own a big European club then it opens up other possibilities....

Lmao.

Elliott giving ninja loans to absolute bums to buy milan and then recouping their assets when the bums fail to pay as they continuously skim from the top of each sale.

Incredible.

Is there any indication of RedBird/Gerry financially struggling other than people's emotional reaction to Milans January?

Judging by outsiders they delivered the same usually 50mil budget & MMM wasted it.

A club like Chelsea or Arsenal or PSG might buy a few 30-80 mil players. Many will turn out to be a "wrong players" and some will turn out good. Man City bought Grealish for around 100 mil and Alvarez for 20 mil.

Alvarez was in the winter market where Elliott only released 4-5 mil for Lazetic.

Then in the summer Elliott made available 35 mil net or around 45 mil with sales. Management made CDK the 1st priority. After CDK around 10 mil was left for 2 positions total ( Vranckx, Thiaw ).

Now lets say management had 20 mil in winter for Alvarez and 70-80 mil in the summer. They would have signed Alvarez, CDK, Botman and Enzo F. So basically out of 4 players only one would have been what you call the "wrong player"! Three hits out of four players signed is a pretty good hit rate.

It's irrational to your financially conscious ethos.

Maybe their plan was to spend big for a few years and then flip the club or ramp down and be more sensible before spending again on another cycle or going self sustaining but didn't want to pass their fair purchase price.

Your argument in the posts though make it look like you are just arguing for the establishment no matter what and at the moment the emperor has no clothes.
This is what I don't get. Sounds like he chose a side and has to now defend it no matter what. This is not Milan fan behavior.

Yes, they accepted a loan from the seller of the investment they're trying to acquire. That's a sign of weakness. Could they not get a loan approved by a third party?

This isn’t accurate. Nothing changed. Adli and CDK were the darlings of analytics nerds. Even Vranckx was an outlier on a lot of metrics. The rest were ‘opportunities’ with older players for free, to add leadership qualities and experience.
But isn’t the point of analytics to find undervalued assets? Adli I agree, but CDK was anything but

Here's another report re the bonus / payout: https://acmilan.theoffside.com/2022...rchase-ac-milan-news-1-3-billion-elliott-news

Il Sole 24 Ore were reporting that RedBird Capital are close to an agreement with Elliott Management to purchase AC Milan for 1.3 billion euros with potential bonuses taking the deal to 1.8 billion euros over the coming years. The same outlet via MilanNews.it are now reporting that Elliott in addition could keep a minority stake in the business.

Bloomberg are now reporting that a preliminary agreement is in place between RedBird and Elliot at the stated 1.3 billion euros for the club and confirmation should arrive next week. The 500 million euro earn-out is a significant factor in favour of RedBird and Elliot will remain as a minority shareholder for a transitional period.

And the sale agreement with all the terms was signed quite early, around May / June. Redbird took a few months to close the deal that was signed.

Re the loan, I think at first they were going to take 300 mil loan, but then they ended taking around 600 mil. Maybe they found it difficult to raise funds and then increased the loan amount.

Well all those reports about the exact figure - the 500M - have been published the 20th of May. To me it seems one put that in circulations and all the others copied it (as it happens in 99% of all media reports also outside sport, it's just the way it is). It's never been mentioned again after that date tho, no?

I don't question tho the existence of such an earn out clause. I just wished to see it somewhere officially confirmed or at least broken down.

Re: vendor loan, GdS reports on 31th of August, the day of the closing, to be 550M. Il Sole 24 Ore reported it to be 300M at 7% June 6th. The Calcio e Finanza link you provided reported it to be 200-300M at 6% the same day. I think in the end it's as you say, probably closer to 600M than to 300M. What all agree on tho is that vendor loans are a very common practice in such take overs and not a sign of financial vulnerability.

Another thing that comes to mind while writing this is that back then there were talks that another reason why Investcorp got refused was that they wanted to take huge bank loans on Milans behalf to complete the deal, meaning that if they folded to repay those bank loans then Milan would be held accountable for those loans. Impossible for Elliott as they agreed with UEFA to not increase bank loans as part of the Settlement Agreement.

This last paragraph is completely from the top of my head. I need to fact check it first but I'm on the run and still wanted to share those thoughts

Moncada thinks CDK will be worth 55/65 at peak

Not a huge amount of profit but he will reach it easily
Remember...a player called Anthony Gordon is worth 40 million pound...

This same article of yours says: The second reason is that the Bahraini-based fund would’ve only spent around €70m in the summer transfer window, only €20m more than what RedBird actually spent.

20 mil more gets you Enzo instead of Vranckx or Botman instead of Thiaw!
